I had the privilege of speaking with Michael at Johnson, Gasink & Baxter. I contacted the firm to discuss estate planning, including SSDI and a new move into Virginia. My "estate" isn't at all "estate size", although still in need of planning and attention. States have differing laws and regulations regarding titling, probate requirements or not, all on top of a move where I presently have friends and family 3000 miles away.
Michael was patient with his time (initial consultation was complimentary) and answered numerous questions I posed. Offered general advice on setting up trusts and wills in this circumstance. He provided referrals to attorneys specializing in elder-care/disability law, who would know the specifics applicable to my case and finances. He also gave the names of multiple local, smaller, banks which I'm not currently with on the West Coast.
After going online and reviewing Michael's recommendations, as well as other contenders in the area....a cross country move with no local resources or neighbor to call for a reference, my uncertainties have vanished. I've located firms which will provide services and support for not only my present needs, but also those sure to come up in the future.
Michael ended the call by letting me know I was always free to call him again should I have any questions or needs he may be able to assist with. My initial communication with Ashley in the front office was also efficient and professional. An appointment was scheduled in a timely manner and needed paperwork was emailed promptly. If you're needing better than this office...you very likely won't find it.
