Marcos was so incredibly nice over the phone, took the time to explain everything and how it works…read moreto become a member there. I asked if I was able to try a few classes before I have to sign a contract. He said how it works is that everyone has to watch one class first, then they could participate in the next class. He said tonight was a great night to come in because it's women's only night. I got there early at 5:30 because Marcos said that's around the time to get there. I assumed that was because I needed to sign a waiver and maybe chat about my martial arts background. But ten minutes after I got there a women pulled up, I smiled at her and she just looked angry. She got out of her car and said "What, are you waiting for me?" I mean I don't even know who she was, so that was awkward and made me feel unwelcome. Then she unlocked the door and I started to bring in my scooter (Marcos already said I could) and she said "Oh sure, you can bring that in too!" It was condescending and made me feel even more unwelcome. I guess I should have explained that I did already get permission and was respectful about it, but my brain just shuts down when people are hostile. She then then tried to get me to sign a contract immediately. She said it was so that I didn't have to when I came back next. I said but I don't know any of the prices yet and don't have enough info, can I wait for later? She said oh don't worry about it, leave the rest blank but make sure you sign it. I told her that two other places did that to me before Eastern Ways and Extreme martial arts. I signed a blank contract and they started my contract over and changed the terms and it was my fault. I learned my lesson. So I told her no, I will wait to sign it until it's filled in with what I choose. She seemed even more hostile after that. Just super bad vibes. I'm giving 3 stars because I'm sure most people there are amazing and Marcos seemed great, but this woman rubbed me the wrong way and that was a huge huge red flag. I won't ever go back, I didn't even stay, I ended up grabbing my scooter and getting the heck out of there.

Reading my old review makes me sad because the overall vibe of this gym took a turn for the worse…read morestarting in late 2025/Jan 2026. The usual cleanliness of the mats took a decline. The family business vibe that kept me for 6 years was minimal. The owner (Patrick) turned into a MAGA keyboard warrior. I avoided Patrick's classes because it was 45 min of stretching and 15 min of workout. Coach Kirby's classes kept me going since my strength gains were worth it (and you don't need to take your shoes off for strength training lol). There was no point in coming here after the last certified personal trainer quit their strength program and more women gradually left. I would rather drive more to train at a different gym (more than one Muay Thai & strength gyms exist in Sacramento) than come here. I don't mind the cost as long as I am in a clean facility and the vibe is worth it. The only reason they have one star left is for Coach P. - he is a good Muay Thai coach and a rockstar. I didn't really go to Coach Rocci's classes until last year, but the few times I did his music was the best for sparring. Pro tip: use a different personal FB account to post political content where gym members can't see them. Regardless of whether people agree/disagree with your views, there is a level of professionalism needed if you want to be a successful business owner.

There is humbleness to recognizing anyone can be a great artist and be skilled, but what is a blessing is a space of support and caring people. We make mistakes in life out of lack of experience, we are all learning and working each day to be better people. Everyone has a human right to train and be wherever they want too. Come try out a free week and see if it's enjoyable. In life we should spent time exercising now versus a life of pain just being still in the future. Think of it as an investment to your retirement, so you're healthy in old age. Also investment to be able to enjoy life traveling, playing sports with younger family members. Hardest part is walking through the front door and you can walk right out is a good first goal. I've been out and injured over and over but everytime I'm welcomed back and my bodily feelings acknowledged and not pushed when need to rest my injuries. Here are some pictures I took, I wanted the members to maybe love themselves more and maybe see more what role models and lights they are just being themselves fun, passionate, understanding, and supportive.
