    Twiny Station - Chicken Sandwich

Well, Lucerne is a great city with amazing views, but when it comes to cheap eats, it certainly…read moreneeds to do a bit of work. We went to twinys looking for quick bite to eat under $20 and it was a hard search unfortunately (we were tired of quick meals at coop and migros). And twinys really came to our rescue. It's a food stand so everything there is to go and there is no where to sit. The staff was very friendly, one of my friends had a food allergy and they had no issues whatsoever adjusting his sandwich accordingly. I got the chicken sandwich, their staple sandwich and I was a big fan. Would recommend getting the twiny sauce and the garlic sauce as well. Was quite a flavorful sandwich and the staff even added extra pickles after I joked it. The bread is nice and crispy and the chicken came out hot. My friends loved their salami sandwich. I would note that the sandwiches can be a bit messy, we had a few bread crumbs and pieces of lettuce fall out while eating and the sauce does start to drip. We ended up coming back for more sandwiches later in our trip as our go to quick eat spot that is inexpensive. If you are looking for a bite without spending a fortune in Lucerne would recommend a visit!

The price tag is a little more consumer friendly than most places. It's a takeout window. Easy to order and food was ready quickly. I ordered the large chicken schnitzel with garlic sauce and a side of pommes for 20 CHF. Served on a baguette, the sandwich had multiple cutlets of schnitzel throughout. They go heavy on the sauce and Im here for it! The sandwich was filling but a little messy. The fries were good, nothing remarkable, but good old heated up precut frozen fries. We took our food down to the water and ate on a bench. It was great. In fact, we were so full from our sandwiches we decided to skip our sit down dinner a couple hours later.

I just cannot resist the cartelized orange chicken and white rice. It sounds like an ordinary plate but its not! I've been to places and have ordered orange chicken but it doesn't compare to this! It is very busy during lunch time but I've always managed to find a place (and I even have my son in his stroller)! It is very spacious in there and it's always fun to go shopping after a full stomach! In regards to the cost... it is a bit pricey for cafeteria style food. But that's Geneva for you!

There is also the possibility to make own crepe: You order crepe with ingredients you want! This is a cool option! Fresh carrot orange juice was tasty too. Their coffee is strong and good. Restaurant interior decoration is nice. I like much daylight getting inside and there are some tables for sitting outside too. Service is very friendly and price corresponds to high quality food but is still below Geneva average! It's to mention restaurant is crowded over lunchtime and it may be difficult to get a good seat! ps: I avoid eating sushi and sashimi not only in Globus but in every restaurant in Europe! It apparently becomes very difficult to get fresh fish! Well! I'd eat sushi and sashimi in Japan because fish has been always fresh!

It is located on the other side of the Nyon train station across from the entrance to the local red train that goes up to Saint Cergue. It is temporary food stand/outside cafe. I finally got a chance to enjoy a late summer evening here after getting off the train. This place is always packed and can often be hard to find a seat. All the seating is outside and you go up to the trailer window to place your order and take it back to your seat. Then take your dishes back to the window when you are done. They serve a choice of coffee, tea, beer, wine or other alcohol free drinks. They also have a variety of light items to snack on (changes each day). Typically they offer salads, sandwiches, a meat/cheese plate, sorbet, yogurt, or home made sweets. I happened to take an espresso and couldn't resist a slice of chocolate tart. My espresso was fine, but the chocolate tart melted in my mouth and was perfection - lightly crispy on the outside and gooey soft on the inside. YUMMY! If I get a chance to stop by here again I will before it closes. Dependent on the weather it closed last year at the end of September - beginning of October. Fantastic little spot to enjoy a drink on a beautiful day as you are waiting for the train or ending a day.
