We found this little gem close to our rental apartment on our first day in Vienna. The restaurant…read morewas cute with plenty of outdoor seating. The service amazing our waiter (Aleks) was professional & courteous, exchanging conversation & recommendations. Our drinks were delicious. I ordered the minestrone soup it was good but not exactly what I expected. Hubby had the beef wok with little spice, it was good but still really spicy. Our friends ordered the Risotto Chicken Curry & the Pizza News. Both meals they said were excellent & each would order them again. The Risotto was his absolute favorite meal he's eaten during our entire trip so far. Trust me when I say that's a huge compliment. **** UPDATE **** I hate making BAD reviews but this post needs to be added to. We visited News Cafe on Sunday & Monday evenings which resulted in the above review. However, Tuesday we went at noon & talk about a different story. The two female waitresses were absolutely rude. We arrived & ordered drinks first, I ordered on Aperol Spritz, hubby hot breakfast tea & water for the third person in our group. What we got was nothing we ordered, I got a fizzy apple juice (tasted but did not drink, it was gross similar to sparkling apple juice in the states) hubby got earl grey which he didn't care for either. The servers avoided our table like we had the plague. No it was not busy. We finally got someone to return to the table I reordered my Aperol Spritz & was actually asked if I wanted it with wine or prosecco, prosecco it was. I asked for the daily special (tomato soup with mixed green salad) and was informed I couldn't make up menu items. Said I wanted the tomato soup, it was tasty obviously freshly made. The guys ordered fries & once again received rude looks & eye rolling. After finishing our snacks we decided that if this had been our first experience we never would have returned. If you want a great experience at News Cafe go on the weekend/evenings when Aleks is working you won't be disappointed.

So many options, especially great since my boyfriend has a gluten allergy. The servers were so kind, the ambience was amazing, and it was a great place for the whole family to unwind with great food and drinks. I would recommend this to anybody!

I was looking for a local cafe near the Schönbrunn Palace with good Yelp reviews. I took the metro…read moreto the stop before the castle and walked 5-minutes to this cute cafe. Don't be discouraged by the simple exterior - I would have walked by without thinking to enter if it had not been for Yelp. The Ambiance: I came around 9/10am to get breakfast on a Wednesday. This place was hoping with locals - little old men reading their newspapers and older women catching up. Since I'm an 80 year old at heart, this was my kind of spot!! For actual millennials, you'll like it too! It was clean and light with spacious booths. The Food: Their menu is bilingual in Austrian/German & English. Loved the yummy, but simple, breakfast selection. They had all kinds of egg options, different breads and small items. I was craving eggs, so I ordered two soft boiled eggs (conveniently peeled for you). They were just perfect- freshly cooked. I also got a ham and cheese croissant to get some carbs in. It was a nice crispy and buttery croissant, perfectly matched with the ham and cheese. Delicious!! The prices were also very fair. I thankfully chose to avoid overeating at my hotel for $20 euros and spent maybe $10 on two soft boiled eggs, ham & cheese croissant and hot chocolate with water. Drinks: The best bit was the Viennese hot chocolate I ordered!! I'm going to dream about that heavenly goodness for a while. If you're at this place, definitely order it over a cappuccino or coffee. It's a treat. They also served it with a little water glass since it's so rich. I appreciated that since most places don't give you water unless you ask/pay for it. Service: The waitress was equally friendly with me as she was with her regulars. She didn't completely forget about me, but also gave me room to enjoy. She was fluent in English, so it was nice not to have to try to mime and speak in broken Austrian/German. I was really impressed. Final Verdict: Loved this spot- I'll definitely be back since I want to see the Palace again. Great selection, prices and friendly service. What's not to like?

If you are looking for an authentic, quality Viennese breakfast to jumpstart your day of touring at…read morethe Schönbrunn Palace, Cafe Raimann is the perfect place to try out. Only a few minute walk from the nearby metro station, it's easy to access but you can tell that this place is the farthest thing from a tourist trap. It was pretty empty when we went on a rainy weekday morning, and the few other customers were clearly locals stopping in as part of their morning routine. They have an English menu and the server spoke decent English so thankfully there wasn't any serious language barrier to overcome. The food was good quality, certainly nothing to blow you away, but that's really not what you come to a place like this for. As a tourist you want to experience the food, culture, and daily life of the local residents and this place definitely delivers on that front. Their prices are quite good, noticeably cheaper than the cafes we visited in the city center. One thing to keep in mind is that they are cash only so come prepared!

The waitress isn't overly warm, but generally friendly and didn't look at me skeptically despite my being a slightly shabby 20-something student with a laptop. My order was served VERY quickly - coffee within the a minute or two, and scrambled eggs after 5 minutes. It's not super cheap - 4,80 for scrambled eggs (two small eggs) with a bread roll on the side - but it's okay. My breakfast was delicious, and the coffee was also quite good. I was there on a Wednesday morning (11 am), and so it was rather quiet and relaxed there. There's some music in the background, but at a comfortably low volume. There's free internet (Freewave) and even an electric outlet at my table, so that's quite convenient. If it were just a bit cheaper, I might have become a regular - as it is, I think I'll come back here once in a while. UPDATE: As it happens, when I paid for my breakfast, the bread roll cost an extra 1,80. I'm almost tempted to lower my rating for that, since I didn't actually ask for a bread roll, but I'm going to give them the benefit of a doubt and assume they did tell me about the extra price and that I over-/misheard it or something. In any case, that makes 7,60 for two eggs and a breadroll, which is kind of expensive.
