When I visited they had a great live free-style hip-hop, show put on by two guys from Berlin. The show was top-notch, the sound great, and the crowd was well mixed and hopping. Strange to be at a live hip-hop show and not a brother there to representing the black man, but whatever. Since there was a live show, there was a 14 CHF cover which I though was worth every cent. Drink prices where also quite reasonable, costing 6ish CHF for mixed drinks and wine. The people working there where very laid back and friendly. Worth noting here is when you order vodka, they will not understand you unless you pronounce it vood-ka, but maybe they where just giving the foreigner some shit. :) The location is stumbling distance from the Hardbrüke station, nice to know when it is pissing rain. Over all I highly recommend Helsinki as a drinking and live music venue.

Super Slick yet Simple // Relaxed Atmosphere // Young Guests…read moreMe and my friends have been spending a few days every season at the Riders Palace in Laax for the last 3 years. The young crowd and the simple and informal setup is very inviting if you're not looking for the formalities of a regular hotel. The design of the building and the rooms is very slick yet simple and comfortable, something typically Swiss in my opinion. They also have a bar in the ground floor and a club in the basement. On the weekends the bar tends to get crowded because usually there is live music in the club and people commute between the two. The 360 rooms are equivalent to the RP middle class and tend to be around CHF 75 / person and night which is probably the cheapest private room you'll find in Laax. Here you have 3 beds and a sofa or a fatboy, as well as a TV, a private shower, sink, and a toilet, all of which are separate. The rooms are very comfortable and safe due to multiple cardreaders you need to pass to access a room. They have 2 large rooms in the basement where guests can store and dry their boards and gear, as well as a storage room where you can keep your luggage if you wanna go boarding/skiing on your last day or before you can check in. This room has a shower and towels as well which is very very useful. My Dislikes: The parties get really noisy and the bass makes your bed vibrate if your room is close to the club. The toilets have no proper ventilation so that RP decided to cut off the top and bottom 10cm of the door which can lead to very uncomfortable situations if you know what I mean. IMO the prices are a bit too high considering you don't even get a proper breakfast.

I only hung out for about an hour because I had promised to join my friend for a little bit after our dept xmas party, but it was still fun to get our groove on... and burn off some of our massive dinner. ;) I've heard some complaints about this place trying to be too posh, but all of my friends love it, and I've felt equally comfortable dancing in a black cocktail dress and also jeans and a tank top. The staff is uppity, rude, and though signs say "international welcome" I certainly do not feel welcome to their over priced, low-self-service, absolutely rude company. If you want to see flash on the walls, have an inflated drink because the river is outside the patio full of cigarette smokers, and feel dehumanized because you're American or "other" (as he made fun of Italians and French when I explained we were there too) then come here. 0% chance I would return.
