The pizza was ok, but the prosciutto was way too salty. My other friend ordered a customized pizza of just mushrooms and buffalo mozzarella, and the waiter was happy to do so. I didn't know you could do that. He also hit his head on the ceiling on the way back from the bathroom... so tall peeps, beware of the low ceiling there! They offered a little shot glass of some sweet red schnapps after the meal. It tasted faintly of alcohol and was slightly reminiscent of grape juice. All in all, I would say it was a pleasant place for dinner and a chat with some friends, but I wasn't terribly blown away by the food.

Despite all the people, it only took about 30 minutes to get in, so it wasn't too long of a wait. Inside was only one large dance room, and it was PACKED. The music wasn't consistent, with the dj playing mostly tech-house and electro, only randomly interspersed with very little actual dubstep. Due to a discrepancy between the cash register and menu, the bartender overcharged us a CHF for each of our beers. Pretty sneaky for a place that was selling a bottle of Cristal for 3000 CHF... but he was cool and refunded our dough when we pointed out the error. This club is one level underground, literally next to the train tracks, which was cool because at one point you could see the train pass behind the dj through the wall-to-wall window. Overall the club was okay. The only annoying thing were guys who would occasionally whack me with their backpack as they were jumping up and down. (Who the hell carries a backpack to a club anyway?!) I probably wouldn't pay the 25 CHF entrance fee to go back, but if we got another pair of free tickets, I might consider another shot.

When I visited they had a great live free-style hip-hop, show put on by two guys from Berlin. The show was top-notch, the sound great, and the crowd was well mixed and hopping. Strange to be at a live hip-hop show and not a brother there to representing the black man, but whatever. Since there was a live show, there was a 14 CHF cover which I though was worth every cent. Drink prices where also quite reasonable, costing 6ish CHF for mixed drinks and wine. The people working there where very laid back and friendly. Worth noting here is when you order vodka, they will not understand you unless you pronounce it vood-ka, but maybe they where just giving the foreigner some shit. :) The location is stumbling distance from the Hardbrüke station, nice to know when it is pissing rain. Over all I highly recommend Helsinki as a drinking and live music venue.

Thus, the space for roller skating is small and the floor is not flat and smooth. But, you can't be picky when their are no roller skating rinks to be found in Switzerland. Be sure to come early when doors open at 10pm, because if you don't have your own skates to bring, they most likely will run out of the popular sizes. For 25 CHF and a personal ID (be sure to keep the paper number in order to pick your ID back up at the end), you get a pair of quad skates and the ability to skate your heart away for the evening to music played by DJ's from across multiple generations, so if you are a hater of the 70's Disco era, do not fear, because they only played a couple of songs from that genre. Once you have obtained your skates, you can rent a blue Ikea bag for 5 CHF to put all your personal belongings in and have stored (be sure yet again to not loose the paper number). Once you have successfully put on your skates, be prepared to climb some stairs in order to gain access to the "rink" area. There is a bar serving libations and random places to sit outside the rink floor. Once the evening gets going the floor becomes a slow moving rolling sea of bodies, some of which dressed up in colourful attire. There is no end of wonderful people watching opportunities here. For those with real skating skills, you will find solo roller dancers showing off their funky moves in spaces they can find on the side. A good evening out with friends, to get your "skate" on, enjoy some people watching, and groove to the music.

Part of our crew did not want to leave. And yet we remained 'till closing. Knowing that the next day we would pay the price.

I'm guessing those instances are probably limited, given the relative neighborhood-y feel to the bar, but with its proximity to the train station you never know. There's not much specifically identifiable as great about Olé Olé, but it's the culmination of everything about the place that just makes it generally lovable. The bartender gals are cheerful and charming, and even manage to have their own labeled beer as a result of their infamy. The patrons are chill, but friendly, so much so that we wound up back at the flat of one of the people we met at the bar to have some after-hours drinks and inevitably chat about global politics (some things never change). Pricing seemed decent, with 4 beers (I think) being about 25-30CHF. They only had the local beer Amboss on draft in two varieties, which was pretty mediocre, but still better than the Bud or Miller products you would find in a similar dive back in the U.S. This definitely feels like more of a shots or whiskey sipping kind of bar. The bathroom deserves its own special mention here, with some of the most odd / interesting decor I've ever seen, featuring a full size skeleton hovering over the toilet with a bouquet of flowers for a groin, and a machine that dispenses something called "Travel Pussy".

It gets difficult when you are with more then 4 people. And you can not be outside because it is right at the street. For sure a place to go once in a while.
