It is as bright and cheerful as the staff. Still, you choose a bank for service more as well as people, and that is what we have found here. When we've had a question about mortgage rates and refinancing, we got terrific service from loan officer. Most recently rates hit historic lows and she was there to guide us through the process. Thanks to technology, we easily did all the paperwork online. We followed that with one final in-person meeting to close. Stop in, appreciate the beautiful new building and enjoy fine banking service.

I'm writing this review because I read an extremely negative review on one of the other locations…read more That review mentioned a large amount of money being lost due to lack of fraud protection. That is not the experience I've had. From approximately 2005 to 2019, there were a handful of times that fraudulent charges were made on my account. I believe these were from credentials compromised online in common schemes. Each time this happened I contacted Hills, filled out a report, and got my money back. Granted, these amounts were far smaller than the amount mentioned in the negative review. I can't speak to that person's experience. But in my experience Hills does have competent fraud protection. There were other times that fraudulent charges were blocked without any loss up front. I had one experience where someone I know in person used the bank to steal from me, and the bank did not reverse the charges. I do think the bank should not have honored that transaction, but in that case I also understood the bank's position to some extent. The people I have done business with at Hills were professional and helpful. My experiences at Hills Bank have been generally positive.
