Another GREAT local business that serves its city well. I first used Security Iron Co. over 10 years ago when I had them install some iron storm doors on my old drafty house. A very nice guy named Jim came out and did some measuring, gave me some design options and came up with what I felt was a very reasonable quote for iron doors, on the spot. They came out as scheduled to install the doors. No fuss, no muss. Over the years the look of the iron doors has held up very well. I have had some of their crew come back at my request to adjust some things as settling on my house has occurred. It is both a great product and they provide great service. I have recommend them to friends many times and have been thanked in return. Then, a few months ago I got a letter from my insurance company asking me to install handrails around my front porch and stairs and without hesitation I called Security Iron Co. to get a quote. Guess who came to my house the very next day? My old pal Jim from 11 years ago. Again he did measurements, we discussed design options and he produced a reasonable quote. Not happy. Never acknowledged us as the customer as set up through our contractor/landscaper. Unresponsive and not customer friendly. Seemed like they thought they were doing us a favor installing our gate. Ongoing problems with the gate since installed which I've had to troubleshoot myself. read more

I am really perplexed by the bad reviews. These guys were awesome. They took care of a bad situation the previous owners installed. They got right back to me when I had an emergency and walked me through a reset. I thought their charges were very reasonable. I am a residence and they did not hock me to buy a contract. I originally went with Security Iron because they were an old company and close to my neighborhood. Their salesman, Jim, wrote up a professional looking quote and was back and forth with me on correspondences. I felt like I could trust him because he was a good talker and fairly clean cut. That was my first mistake. He was nothing but your usual con artist salesman. Once he got me to sign the contract and pay the deposit, that's the last time I could get in touch with him. He was gone. First he said the service team would start in two weeks but it ended up being four weeks. They decided to come surprise me with the installation of the fence the day I was leaving on my 2 week honeymoon. They said that they would talk to the guy that poured my driveway slab so that the gate would swing open all the way, instead it I returned home to discover that the gate only opened halfway because it was installed too low to clear the grade of the concrete. What's the point of having a gate on my driveway if I can't even fit my car through it because the gate won't open more halfway? Very very unprofessional work. I called them several times to come resolve this issue. I did not think it was fair that I had to pay over $4500 for an iron fence that wasn't installed properly. The guy answering the phone named wayne just told me what I wanted to hear and was often rude. "Yes we will have someone call you back and a service team go repair it." No one ever called me back after calling 7 times, NOT ONCE. Then they told me a month ago that someone was coming to look at the gate. That never happened either. Then they said they would put in a service order, I wait another month and that never happens either. Honestly, I never leave bad reviews but this was nothing short of robbery and I don't know how they stay in business other than the fact that it's an old company. Do yourself a favor and bring your business elsewhere. These people just want your money and do not know how to properly install a fence. Now, I have to pay a separate contractor to come fix my gate so it will open all the way, which will run me another $1000. I never write reviews online, but I've had such a negative experience with Security Iron Works that I feel I must say something. The tech they sent to help us with issues with our electric gate was a nice guy, but he installed an indoor key pad outside, in a location that was against code, and after several visits and a span of 6 weeks, our problems were never resolved. The most frustrating part of my experience was the lack of communication. My calls to the office about our ongoing issues were never returned, nor were my emails. Their customer service is beyond terrible. I've now paid several hundred dollars for work that was not just done incorrectly, but created more problems that we've now had to address with the help of another company. In sum, very unprofessional work and the worst service experience I've ever had. read more

First two times I used them it was a fabulous experience...sadly they have just become supremely lacking in the customer service department. No return phone calls. Not showing up on time or at all. Unless you get Jim on the phone don't bother...you will be waiting all week with whatever issue you might have. Bummer. read more

The guys at Security are great. They came out and gave me an estimate quickly. I stopped in since they were on my daily running of errands and dropped off a deposit and they got to work on my order. It wasn't a lot to fabricate but it was peace of mind for me. They came out the next week and fixed my 'gravity latch' and fence. Painted it and all. I have used this company twice before in the past and received good service. I decided to used them again to install quick release window guards on my house, what a nightmare this has been. Someone came out to measure the windows 4/1/16. Came to install the guards 4 weeks later, one guard was the incorrect size, the other three were of poor quality. Explained to them I was not pleased with the work and would like to have the same type of guards that I had originally only with quick release. Here we are 4 moths later, I have paid for the guards and still have not received the guards. The keep making excuses as to when the guards will be installed. About a month ago they call to tell me that the guards were ready and they would install them. Called back a day later to state the guards were not ready. Told me that the would install the guards on Saturday past, did not show up. Called to inquire as to what happened, stated that they did not have me scheduled to install the guards on Saturday. The salesperson/worker was very ugly with me. Telling me "this is the thing". I told him the thing is that you have my money and I have nothing to show or it. It this point, I have contacted my attorney and he is now handling the situation for me. USE THIS COMPANY AT YOUR OWN RISK. THEY GIVE LOUSY SERVICE, POOR WORKMANSHIP, AND APPARENTLY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. I HAVE LEARNED MY LESSON, WILL NEVER, EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN. read more

Searching for a business to install an iron gate was not an easy task! There was not much information online, but I am so happy that we found Security Iron. We did our due diligence and got three quotes from different companies. Security Iron offered the lowest price which was attractive to us, but more importantly they offered a beautiful, high quality gate and great customer service. We live in an historic district so we wanted the gate to match our home and the neighborhood which it does wonderfully. The sales person had great expertise and provided valuable suggestions to us for placement and size of the driveway gate and walk through gate. Also, the two men who installed the gate were professional and kind and happy to answer my questions and make custom, minor adjustments to our gate during the installation. We are now looking to sell our home, but will certainly use Security Iron again if we need to install a gate at our new home. read more
