Prather Landscaping - Owner: Ryan Prather

I can not recommend Ryan enough. He is not simply a hard worker with a clear vision and knowledge…read moreof plants and yard ecosystems, he is an artist. When we meet, he creates a design that is appropriate and healthy for the landscape itself, he seeks to understand how we actually use our outdoor living space and then enhances it to make that experience even better. For instance, he trimmed branches not only to make the trees and yard healthier and more attractive, he did the job in such a way that our view to the pond beyond was opened up from every window in our home. Also for instance, he chose a mulch color that picked up tones in our brick and driveway that we had not even seen before. And finally for instance, he created a pair of dry riverbeds leading from the front to the back of our home that not only looks fantastic, it creates a feeling of welcome and peace for anyone joining us in the back yard. I'm telling you - an artist! Customers and trust his landscaping knowledge in terms of seasonality, growth patterns and what works in the Midwest. But that is not what sets him apart - it is his all encompassing, custom to YOU approach. You can trust his vision as well.

It really is very hard to find a good lawn and tree trimming company to do some work for you. I…read morepromise you I called several and the one thing that I found is that 80% don't even respond, very frustrating for a customer experience. What I love about these guys, they were responsive, professional and had a superb team that came in and took care of business in one day! I had a big old tree that needed to be removed that was rotten, it was probably like 20 feet tall and I had two other big trees that need to be trimmed. Also, on another note we had a little minor issue where the tree stump was sticking out more than normal after they cut it down, I mentioned this to Dustin and they came out and the next day and stood by their work without any complaints whatsoever! They just wanted me to be satisfied. The crew came in they were very nice respectful and they were working very hard to get the job done, thumbs up for this company!

Pros: Good Communication, Clean worksite, Professional, Fair pricing, Honest…read more Cons: Long waitlist (This is a pro in our eyes, but understand some might want a project done yesterday) Earlier this summer my husband & I decided to get some professional landscaping work done for our home. After a consultation visit from the owner, Dustin, we decided to have his team complete 3 projects for us. Work began on a Monday and wrapped up that Friday morning. Here is our experience working with the TrimWorks team... As stated, we called Trimworks in the early summer. My husband spoke with Krista and she set up a meeting with Dustin at our house to see if they could help with our needs. Dustin came across as: - Extremely knowledgeable - Artistic - Takes pride in a job well done He listened to our vision, agreed with some things, and offered ideas of his own - which we really liked. By the end of the meeting, we were even more excited about the projects and awaited the quote. A week later we received the quote; Krista and Dustin were both easy to work with regarding one change in plan so another quote was put together. Communication of expectations was clear from them on cost (deposit + final payment), payment options, and time frame. Also, the majority of communication was via email which gave easy detail reference for both parties. As stated above, there was a waitlist so after they received the deposit it was 3-4 weeks wait. Honestly, this wasn't a problem for us and judging by pictures of previous projects they'd completed, we assumed they were an in-demand landscaping company. Plus, as stated above, we already understood the wait because of good communication. When the Trimwork's crew arrived Monday morning Chris & Dustin had 1 more conversation going over the 3 projects' details then the team got to work. Also, do note that during this time Dustin made himself readily available for questions and concerns. We were quoted a 5-day timeframe from beginning to end and they worked fully on our project until it was complete. Friday morning there were a few finishing touches and then the job was wrapped up (On a side note, I very much appreciated how each day the work site was cleaned up before they left!). Before moving to the conclusion, I want to give you a tip though on a mistake I made during this process that has become a huge learning experience. This is something you probably already know, but it's easy to not do and has the potential to lead to complications... Share a visual to explain what's wanted. I described what I wanted in my own words but realized a couple of days in that I missed some details. So, be sure to put together an image or two of your final vision before you contact a company to do the work. Having these examples will leave no room for misinterpretation. The reason I bring this up is that after the second day I came home from work and noticed one of the projects wasn't quite what I expected. I contacted Dustin to discuss... and this is where projects can go sideways. Fortunately, Dustin's professional demeanor and earthworks knowledge were able to explain the complications of what I was wanting, which would include building a retaining wall, larger boulders, and would have driven up costs to an amount higher than we budgeted. You might be thinking they were trying to cut corners, but just spend 1 hour talking with Dustin and you'll see he's an honest guy who tries to do the right thing. In fact, he even spent extra time reconfiguring the stones in the walkway to be absolutely perfect. So, back to the main point of the tip: have example photos ready to show what you want. Our experience with Trimworks Lawn & Landscape was positive. Dustin and his team: - Did outstanding on our projects - Communicated quotes and timing efficiently - Positive and professional team - Kept the worksite tidy We have complete confidence in Dustin and he proved his expertise. At the end of the day, he wanted us happy and was willing to go the extra mile for us. We will definitely be using Trimworks again because one project we're doing in phases and his vision is exactly what we're wanting. If anyone has any questions, leave a comment to my review.
