We have been attending here for over 3 years, and I can say that my family and I have found our people here. I have been able to grow in my faith with meaningful messages and intentional community. They are really family friendly. We have two kiddos (4 & 8) and they love going to kids church, where they have age appropriate teachings and get to connect with friends. You can also keep your kids in the service (some folks do!) if you or they are more comfortable with that. They have free coffee & donuts every week so if you're running late don't worry about grabbing coffee before you leave. If you're looking for a welcoming and family friendly church, this is the one!!

Personally, I love that the kids' church has a curriculum to it where the little ones can get involved and begin learning about Jesus. It's way more than just a place for kids to hang around during service. They get involved in the message and learn how to apply scripture to every day. Adult service is amazing. Pastors Dan and Abigail do an amazing job teaching. They have a real passion for what they do, and it shows in whatever that week's message is. 10 stars if I could. 10am on Sundays at the Centre. Coffee's always on. Come on down, grab a cup, and stay awhile. You'll be glad you did.

Pastor Jeff Bucknam delivered one of the best Easter sermons I've ever heard today!…read more Harvest Bible Chapel is not perfect (and no church is) and it has had a challenging past (not unlike most churches), but where it is at today is aligned with the purpose it began with... biblically centered teaching. Watch some of the sermons online and you'll see what we experience live... line by line teaching of the Bible. Pastor Jeff specifically includes relatable personal stories and while he's humble, he does not refrain from challenging the congregation and offing an unapologetic view of scripture. We are working on getting connected into a small group and would eventually like to serve, and one of the things that could be better is the connection center at the end of services. I know the team is short on volunteers, but I have had the chance to meet a few people. We also feel comfortable here because there is a little more diversity than some of the other churches in the area. There are also a ton of programs for children, both during service and throughout the year, like summer camps and youth ministries. Choosing a church is very personal and sometimes, larger congregations get a bad rap. I think that HBC is on the upswing, so stop by and check it out for yourself!

As you walk in, the church has a modern Christian feel. The church space was a former brewery and restaurant, but you wouldn't have guessed, they made it work. They are very friendly and welcomes new guest with a smile! They offered free coffee and water and it looks like you can also bring your own beverage into the service area. The music can be a bit loud but they also provide free ear plugs as needed in the front entrance. The service area is two floors. The 2nd floor is open so you can see the stage when you are looking down. The singers and live music was pretty good. They even had the words of the songs on the 3 jumbo screens so you can sing along as loud as your heart desires! They have a pastor who spoke with heart and you can relate to the message, funny guy. They even had video clips, props that keeps you engaged that you will laugh and shed some tears during the service. No judgement here everyone seems to be open and friendly. They even have people if you wish for a personal prayer after service if you need it. Overall, it was a good experience. Want to connect with God and be part of an Elgin Christian church? Then make the time to check it out and connect with them. We'd come back here again for service when we're in the area.

The church has containers of free ear plugs for people who don't enjoy loud, enthusiastic worship music. The words for the worship songs are on screens at the front of the church to make it easy for people to sing along. The Pastor (Dan Alarcon) is very warm, spiritually mature, and funny. His messages are clear and easy to understand. Pastor Dan, or "P.D." as some people call him, uses video clips and other visual aids to keep the audience interested and following along during the sermons. My husband and I continue to attend and to appreciate this church and the people who attend it. Of course, since the COVID-19 crisis hit Illinois, Discovery Church has followed all of the Governor's recommendations. The church has recently begun meeting again on Sundays, but are seating individuals, couples, and family groups six feet apart from one another. My husband and I heartily recommend this church to anyone searching for spiritual guidance, friendship, and human connections. The church offers mid-week classes and groups. There's something for everyone at Discovery Church (DC)!

Enough…read moreto install a $40 million prayer path, send millions overseas and millions to adopt other churches. However, during major crises affecting members in its own backyard, the response consists of verbal expressions of "walking alongside you," without desperately needed material assistance. In every service, Christ Community Church dedicates a specific prayer to encourage giving directly to the church. Yet they do not help their very own members. Members=wallets. Additionally, the pastors frequently express support for globalism and anti-white rhetoric, which contrasts with biblical passages such as the Tower of Babel account (Genesis 11), where God disperses humanity and confounds languages. The Great Commission instructs believers to "make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19), emphasizing outreach across distinct peoples rather than the merging of nations into a single entity or the erosion of national boundaries to facilitate a unified global system. Christ Community is a seeker-church. Discipleship does not go deep. In fact, Pastor Clayton Keenon believes the Garden of Eden existed alongside preexisting civilizations. This interpretation breaks the doctrine of original sin and the gospel itself. This man has no business leading anyone, let alone the thousands that attend Christ Community campuses. This undermines the authority of Scripture and opens the door to further compromises. Perhaps this heresy is why Christ Community's doesn't have a pulpit, but rather a stage. If you're looking for an entertainment church, this is the place. If you're looking to grow in biblical truth and knowledge, look elsewhere.
