We joined Seaside Shadows for another tour last night, this time the Paranormal Pub Crawl, with Kim as our guide. She was fantastic! She was so knowledgeable about the area and a natural storyteller. It was great stopping into different bars along the way, grabbing a pint, and listening to the eerie lore of Mystic. Kim's enthusiasm was contagious, and you could tell she truly loves sharing the history and hauntings of this waterfront village. My wife and I were in town for a few days and we wanted to do something unique. We found the ghost tours through a TripAdvisor "top things to do" review. Originally, we booked a graveyard ghost tour, however that tour did not have enough participants to take place. The owner was very courteous in offering us a refund, rain check or to switch into the downtown ghost tour that also took place the same night. We only had one night left, so we decided to participate. Our tour guide Kim was fantastic. Not only was she personable but she was full of knowledge as well as rapport. Kim was an excellent leader and took us on our tour throughout the spooky city shrouded with mystery. And fires that have happened - ask about the fires! During the tour we stopped at key places to speak of the mystery and spooky history of Mystic. At times, the dialogue went on but it explained the story behind the ghosts/hauntings. The tour also is a mile, so there is a lot of walking. As the sun finally sets and the stars come out - it only adds more spooky to the stories. You cannot expect to see a ghost as one cannot command them to appear, but you can feel the vibe and if you are lucky have some kind of "experience" occur. I had a few concerns and once the owner was made aware, she directly reached out to me as her mantra was about making things right. She did, sadly I do not live close enough to go back to participate but the generosity of this small business was admirable. I would recommend the tours as a great way to see, experience and indulge in Mystic with the chance to get a haunting. At the very least, experience a town through the passion of a great tour guide and awesome owner. My husband and I took the Mystic tour through town. You are definitely on your feet the entire time with no where to sit, so be prepared. The tour doesn't end where it starts, so we had to walk back a little less than a mile to get back to our car after standing/walking for an hour and 45 minutes. The guide uses a speaker so you can hear everything, however, it is a bit loud and as we are standing outside restaurants and stores, I would imagine it is distracting to the customers of those places. Yes, all the above can get filed under "Our problem, not Seaside Shadows problem." Agreed, if you are a walking machine you will love this tour. Our guide was very well versed in the history of each location and was filled with tons of information at each location. I was hoping to see a ghost, LOL, but the stories were great either way. It also doesn't need to be an hour 45, they could cut it down. The last place on the tour, the Captain Daniel Packer Inne had the best stories and possibly the best opportunity to see a ghost. Based on that recommendation, my husband and I went there the next night for dinner. Definitely add that to your visit, the food was great and the Inne is very period. We went on the haunted historical graveyard tour with our guide Andrew. What a creepy good time it was. Andrew is such a character with great story telling skills! Although this was a creepy tour, Andrew had some humor which was quite delightful. He had great knowledge of the area and the buried historical figures in the graveyard and was able to answer all questions everyone had. The downside was the weather where it rained but that is the ONLY bad thing about it! Highly recommended! read more

What a great time we had on this spooky, historical, ghost tour! Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and an incredible story teller. He taught us so much in two hours! We were not expecting to see or hear any ghosts, but oh boy was I surprised. The start of the tour starts at a very special spot in the graveyard. As soon as I stood in that spot, I started hearing the grass, leaves and twigs tussling behind me, like foot steps. i immediately figured it was the black cat we were warned about that lives there. I thought nothing of it, even though when I turned around there was nothing there. I continued hearing it over and over as I stood in that spot. I moved over about ten feet and still heard it, directly behind me. We continued on the tour to different spots of the graveyard and no matter where I went I kept hearing footsteps and rustling directly behind me. Every time I'd turn to see what it was, the noises would stop and there was no one there. About half way through the tour, my teenage daughter and I turned around at the exact same time. I asked her "did you hear that?" and she replied "yeah what is that?" (She does not believe in ghosts) I brushed it off so that I didn't scare her or anything. But it kept happening and she kept turning around at the same time as me to see what was making the noise. I finally told her that it had been happening the whole entire time I was there. Needless to say, this graveyard made a ghost believer out of my teenage daughter. She was generally creeped out! I did not feel threatened. I just felt like the spirit was messing with me and playing games! This tour is not a jump scare type of thing. It is more about the history of New England and how the people who are buried there have been known to pop up in spirit form, at the graveyard, from time to time. My recommendation is to wear very comfortable shoes as you are standing on tree roots and dirt the whole time. My feet were killing me because I did not wear comfortable shoes, but it was WELL worth it! Also, definitely bring bug spray and a flashlight with you! Some of the headstones are so old that with the slightest touch they could fall apart, so you don't want to accidentally trip over one while walking in the dark. This was our first time in Mystic for a mini family getaway. We did a lot and saw a lot on our trip, but this graveyard tour was the highlight of our trip!! Thank you so much for a wonderful time! P.S. I also captured a very interesting picture when I was taking a picture of a headstone. For context, I was holding my flashlight in one hand to shine it onto the headstone and my phone in the other hand to take the picture. To the right of the headstone, it almost looks like an adult hand holding a knife and a very small child's hand under the adult hand! THERE WERE NO SMALL CHILDREN ON THIS TOUR! I really enjoyed the Midnight Paranormal Investigation at the Whitehall Burial Grounds in Mystic on Halloween night. Our tour guides were dressed for the period and told stories of some of the inhabitants of the cemetery. It was a full blue moon that night which lit up the sky like a night light. The tour guides used paranormal equipment during the investigation and encouraged us to ask the spirits questions. We were given treats (candy) on our way out. Seaside Shadows does a really good job with these tours and because of COVID 19 they make sure to go over the rules of social distancing and mask wearing requirements before the onset of the tour. They are a great group of people and I would definitely do this again. read more

My kids and I really enjoy doing these tours. You get a close up tour and learn a lot about the area. We did learn some history as well as getting a walking tour of the beautiful historic downtown area. Andrew was the perfect tour guide and keep us interested throughout most of the tour. Great personality and suited well for the event. Our only downside was it started at 8, the we didn't leave the same area until 8:30. We were loosing interest with the fist story standing for so long, but otherwise we enjoyed the tour. read more

Sadly, we didn't catch any paranormal activity on our phones but we did learn a lot about the history of Mystic dating from the colonial early settlers through the revolutionary and civil wars. The guide was professional and a good speaker. She's not afraid to speak about her personal experiences as well as other people's encounters. I enjoyed listening to her very much. It was literally a dark and stormy night and what a perfect backdrop for a ghost tour at a graveyard. Though the history of the occupants were interesting there wasn't much about the actual grave site. So any sightings would probably be very few, but I'm not psychic. Since it was very dark and rainy one must watch one's step or risk tripping over a little tombstone. The actual tombstones were amazing. We couldn't touch any of them as the agreement for being out there at night, but we were allowed to photograph as many as we wanted. Towards the end we sat inside some type of body holding cell. It was small and creepy but very cool. I enjoyed myself but I'd rather go to their other tour, located in downtown Mystic, where more activities are reported. read more

The walks are always fun; you learn a lot of local history, especially on the downtown Mystic tour. The guides also speak about their personal experiences, which are spooky fun to hear. The creepiest one (I won't share here so you'll be surprised on the tour!) was from the guide who did the cemetery tour about one of his experiences as a child, and it still creeps me out. For any tour, wear comfortable shoes, there's not a lot of opportunity to sit down. read more

The cemetery is one of those in plain sight hidden gems that can be easily overlooked if you don't know what you are looking for.
