Artillery Battery at mouth of Columbia River at Fort

Seaside is not one of my favorite Thousand Trails parks, however it has so much to do and has shopping close by. I give it 4 stars for this reason. We are full time travelers and it's all about what there is to see and do close by that is important to us. This is a high use park so you have to book early otherwise it's hard to get into. We have never had problems getting into park by doing this. Check in went quickly, staff was friendly and helpful. We checked in on Tuesday found a few sites to choose from. We only looked in the section that has a manned ranger station. We found a fhu 30 amp site with extra space by it. The section has a small lodge, small dog park and laundry room/ bathroom. This building could really use new siding and a coat of paint. The section across the road has a lodge, inside pool, sports court. The road leading to it is very pretty but the sites themself are close together part of them do not have trees around them. As I said this park is all about location. Day trips to Astoria, Seaside beach, Town of Cannon Beach, Tillamook Cheese Factory, Museums, all the different State and National Parks. And of course all the beautiful beaches. Cell service on our AT&T in the park was okay but was iffy during high use times for streaming. Verizon hotspot worked as well but had some issues during high use times as well. We will continue to visit this park while in the area.

Where do I begin...we were so excited to explore Seaside and Cannon Beach, and had made our reservations a year out (see brouchure). And while COVID did not cancel our reservation (as this is a private campground), Thousand Trails Seaside did not live up to the expectation. Our fun weekend started upon check in when we learned that all sites were "first come/first served", even with a reservation. We lucked out and stalked someone packing out their site to leave. But many campers could be seen driving the loop several times before giving up and leaving. What they don't tell when you make your reservation is a majority of the sites are "permanently reserved" for members only. So you will be stuck trying to squeeze your RV into the smallest site on the side of a hill or in the mud! All of the "fun stuff" (pool, hot tub, club house) were closed as expected due to COVID, but there was only one restroom open for the entire camp for all cabins, tent sites, and RV's, and it was located the farthest possible location it could be. There were not enough fire pits (see picture of the one on our site for a laugh) as you could see people take from other sites. The only redeeming quality TT Seaside has is its close location to beaches (you are 10 minutes from 3), cute downtown areas(Seaside, Cannon Beach, Astoria), and attractions (Cape Disappointment, Lewis & Clark). And the staff on duty was very friendly, even during this difficult time.

Our site accommodated 2 tents.

Reasonably priced, great staff. We stayed 2 nights at a camp site. We had an unexpected extra guest w/their own vehicle and didn't get charged for it. We we're lucky and the only tent spot open was the best one! We'll definitely be back.

Great experience here! The campground is nice and quiet, the bathrooms are super nice, and the staff was friendly.

Go on hikes, look for rocks shells, surf, get lost in nature, just sit in the grass and watch the ocean. Here is what you can do at Ecola State Park: Hiking & Walking: Explore trails ranging from easy strolls to challenging hikes through Sitka spruce forests. The Clatsop Loop Trail follows the path of1806 explorers, while the Oregon Coast Trail offers longer, scenic treks. Indian Beach: A popular, secluded cove for surfing, sunbathing, and tide-pooling to see sea stars and anemones. Viewpoints: Take in spectacular vistas from Ecola Point, including views of the Tillamook Rock Lighthouse ("Terrible Tilly") and distant Haystack Rock. Wildlife Viewing: The park is known for herds of elk grazing in the meadows, as well as sightings of bald eagles and migrating gray whales. Picnicking: Enjoy lunch at the picnic areas located on the grassy bluffs with ocean views. Photography: The dramatic, moody coastline provides excellent opportunities for photography. Oregon State

The drive through the forest is a passage into another world. Sitka spruce and hemlock lean over the road as if they are curious about you. At the end of the road the land opens and the Pacific announces itself in vast gray blues and greens, broken by sea stacks that rise like stubborn monuments. The trails are generous. Some wander to secret beaches, others climb to high points where the ocean and horizon meet like two old friends. Indian Beach is a gathering of tide pools, surfers, and quiet sand. Crescent Beach feels private, almost hidden, with the company of seals if you are lucky. Wildlife belongs here as much as people. Elk graze, eagles soar, and sometimes whales turn the water into theater. The park offers all of this without asking much in return, except that you take your time. Bring layers because the wind and mist move through the park like they own the place. Take your time. Sit, watch, breathe. This park gives you a rare combination of accessibility, natural beauty, and serenity. I regret not praising this place sooner. Ecola State Park holds the kind of beauty that makes you feel both small and fortunate. Five stars, without hesitation.

Arlene, the camp host, was really friendly and we were able to buy firewood and a s'mores kit from her office. The bathroom was clean and the showers were hot. There were also some fun amenities like a badminton court and a basketball hoop. The campground itself was really well kept and beautiful. I will say that campsites are not super private, but that's the price to pay for camping so close to town.

Luckily, we got a spot because they were booked up when we arrived and Gladys was ready to tell us that they were full. This is definitely a more rustic campsite. it has been family owned for decades and I have a feeling that it wasn't worth adding hookups or newer facilities to the site. However, everything was adequate and the staff could not have been nicer. Everyone at the site was very friendly and we talked with a few couples before we departed. If there is downer about this site, it's that the beach and center of town are about a 30 min walk from the site and you need to walk down a small stretch of highway onramp. It seems to be closer than any other alternatives but I do wish it had been a but closer. All in all, I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone camping in cannon beach for a night or two.
