    Seaside Park, Bridgeport

I had stopped in to this park with hope of getting to see the Tongue Point Light but it seems that it's inaccessible to the public because of the industrial facilities that surround it. Oh, well. I did get the chance to explore this huge park and on a weekend in the early evening, it was very busy with other park visitors. The entrance to the park is under one leg of the imposing Perry Memorial Arch https://www.yelp.com/biz/perry-memorial-arch-bridgeport?hrid=o2KVRLSOp8DX8QIQ0iAhyA. The park is some 375 acres and the "seaside" referenced in the name is the Long Island Sound. I am guessing that "soundside park" doesn't seem as much fun. Several different amenities are around the park including ball fields, many picnic areas, beaches, a bath house and hiking trails. I spotted dozens of parties and picnics being enjoyed in this lovely weather. The Civil War monument https://www.yelp.com/biz/soldiers-and-sailors-monument-bridgeport?hrid=ND7NWurdAUiiwcKUNy-C4g stands on the former training grounds of the 17th Regiment of the Connecticut Volunteer Infantry. The popularity of venturing to the coast to watch the troops train helped lead to the creation of Seaside Park after the war. Access to the park does require purchase of a decal from the city's parks department. I was only here briefly and never left my car parked for long, so I was not disturbed. There were a couple of police patrols here and there. [Review 15154 overall, 656 of 2021, number 11 in Connecticut.]

    'Closed', truly a bummer.

Nice, very nice Seaside Park with great views of the Long Island Sound! There is plenty of space to roam, run, amble and jaunt. Parking is sort of a 'park wherever' type affair. There are band stands, steps, meadows, only a few benches, water fronts and paved paths where it makes sense to roll, push, run, skate. Early in the day the place has a chain which marks it as closed. Review: 5

While I would neither sun nor sand on the beaches nor swim in the water, this location can be a most tranquil place. Great to walk and take in the beauty of the ocean and look across to Long Island. Outside of the high season is best to do so, because summer months consists of crowds. Expansive park---created by Frederick Law Olmsted at the request of PT Barnum! Follow all the way down to the road to view the Fayerweather (Black Rock) lighthouse or cross the rock breakwater to see up close and personal. Worth the experience.

Beautiful beach. However Water is far from clear. Never the less a good time. We came for a salsa at the beach event. They charge $40 per car for parking $60 if out of state. That's RIDICULOUS. we parked in a random parking lot near a baseball field that said PERMIT PARKING ONLY. Nothing happened thank God. We went on a Sunday

Seaside is still my favorite beach in CT. It is beautiful and low tide is the best time to visit. I usually go during the weekdays in the summer so I avoid the crowds.

    Love the beach!

Best beach in all Fairfield county. This park has a Long Beach which provides plenty of space for everyone to enjoy. The beach area has a couple of concessions stands as well as a playground and splash pad for everyone to enjoy. As you come to the park they have plenty of baseball fields as well as soccer fields for anyone who chooses to play sports. Plenty of bike trails for people to ride or walk if they chose. For city residents all we have to pay is $15 for our parking permit, not exactly sure for out of towners but you are able to get a day pass to use our Beach. Overall you are not going to find a better beach in this area.

We compromised with a short stroll to the shore and back, just enough to enjoy the fresh air and the view of Long Island Sound.

Rocky beach and no waves because it's on the bay. Parking is $22 for non residents. Wish the water was clearer but it's natural. Brought water shoes but didn't really need them if you're careful. They have an East beach and West beach within park. West allows bbqs, larger fields and nice views. East beach is more like a beach due to lifeguard staff. Nature center located on east beach as well. My photos are from west beach only.

I arrived at 11ish, paid $22 (non-Connecticut residents have to pay) and found parking immediately. Around 12:30 the parking lots were at capacity and closed. I love how there's so much to do at the park. You can grill, go to the beach, go for a walk and even ride your bike. It's a great time. The beach is small and full of rocks and pebbles. The water was freezing even in the hot weather. The walk towards the water is even worse. There's rocks everywhere you step and can be extremely painful. My sister and I both cut our feet trying to get in and out of the water so I HIGHLY recommend getting some water shoes! My favorite parking lot is the west side only because there's a bathhouse where you can change, use the bathroom and take a shower. Highly recommend to come here for a fun beach day or picnic or grilling. Love love this place!

For a lighthouse lover like myself-Jackpot! The stroll is flat and easy (think the total length is 1/2 mile) and you can stop along the way to read some of the area history and also what types of fish swim nearby. I go here often to walk and appreciate nature and quiet, or to sit and watch the boats, the sunset, or the fishermen and women. It's a great spot to be outdoors and relieve stress or contemplate the meaning of life. There are a few picnic tables and benches. The whole area is always very clean. Parking is free for Bridgeport residents in season with a sticker, but I have never gotten a sticker and never had any issues. Keep it quiet and clean and keep your dogs on a leash , please, as this is a true oasis and you will be stunned it is actually in Bridgeport!
