A truly wonderful seal sanctuary & conservation centre. As well as the seals, there are a range of other animals & birds all in a range of wonderfully constructed habitats. The sanctuary is beautifully laid out & the planting is stunning, it really is a joy to walk round, especially in the summer. There is an excellent café serving a range of extremely nice home made food, which can be eaten in the indoor or outdoor seating area. There is also a small gift shop & toilet facilities. read more

This is a great place to visit if you are in the area, with something for every age group. Packed full of different animals (not just seals) and interesting and informative exhibits about the area, including two 'time walks' showing what the area was like in pre-history. There is also a great cafe serving some lovely food, and a small but well-stocked gift shop catering to all pockets, there is something for everyone here. Access is not great for wheelchairs/buggies as there are a couple of sections that would not be accessible to some, but there is still plenty to see. The seal sanctuary does a lot of good work in the field of animal protection but this is a review if the sanctuary as a visitor attraction so should be read as such. It is in effect a small zoo with a variety of animals and birds in cages. As is a common problem, I suspect, the design is such that often the animal can find a place to rest where it cannot be seen by the visitor so a good number of the cages appeared to be unoccupied. There are various different mammals as well as the expected seals. The seals were fairly few in number and in fact there are only a few pools for seals and only a few seals that you can watch. I was expecting more. Obviously their aim is to release seals back into the sea and I am sure that is the right thing to do but it lessens the attraction for visitors who want to see seals! The interpretation and displays are mostly old and some are not in the best condition, indeed the whole place seems to be a little bit run-down. It comes across to me that the management's priority is seal protection rather than running a tourist attraction but unless they are successful at the latter they won't always have the income to do the former. Worth a visit but could be better. read more

this is a great place to go and visit. the sanctuary was well laid out and does contain other animals. there were baby seals and adult seals. there were plenty of great chances to take photos of the seals. the sanctury is right next to the enterance to the beech so s work making it part of your day out. read more

would fully reccomend the seal sanctuary to any animal lovers, they have seal's of course and also a wide selection of other animals including monkeys, lynx's, birds, foxes, badgers, owls, pony's, rabbits, and lots more. brilliant place visit if you can you wont be dissapointed. read more
