Family-friendly stay, kids had a great time We stayed at…read moreBest Western Leamington as a family and overall had a positive experience, especially for traveling with kids. The biggest highlight is how kid-friendly this place is. There's a warm indoor pool, arcade, basketball area, and a playground with rock climbing, which kept our kids entertained the whole time. We even saw several families hosting birthday parties here, bringing their own food and decorations -- it felt very lively and welcoming for families. The hotel is also a convenient 2.5-hour drive from Toronto, making it a great option for a quick weekend getaway. That said, an honest note: the room was a bit small and felt somewhat outdated, and we did wish the common areas were cleaned more frequently, especially considering how many children use the facilities. Overall, the kids loved it, and for a short family trip where fun matters most, this hotel is worth considering.

Didn't they hear of checking out early! I had to wake up a 75 year old woman (caretaker) so I could checkout at 7:30. There are only about 20 units. No security (dark) and you park your car in front of your place. Room was small but nicely furnished with 1 bed and new bathroom. No box spring under mattress. No fridge or microwave eventhough their website showed pictures. I had to use booking.com (Priceline) since they don't take amex unless you book there. I checked in with the restaurant staff. It was annoying to have no desk. Cable TV was included and $100 is a little steep. Lighting was very poor in the room. There was a coat rack but no dressers. They have 2 bed (rooms) and a few suites and one with a kitchen. Web site looks nicer than room. But it was clean and had new thermostat. This is better suited to vacationers (couples). They should have made it a bed and breakfast.

The staff had no particular interest in being helpful, unless asked, and even then, I felt like I was their chore for simply asking for information on the local scenery or convenience items. I was new to the area, but quickly learned that the town was small and sleepy, with all establishments closing at 9p.m. or earlier. However, there was a wedding party that chose to celebrate in the parking lot of the motel, starting at midnight. When I called to ask the staff how long was this noise going to last, I was asked (very flatly, like the person on the other end cared so little about the inconvenience and discomfort of the person on the other end of the phone) "is it bothering you"? The restaurant attached to the motel had terrible service. The wait staff got our orders wrong, we had to ask for water refills, and she took forever to come wait on us. To boot, the manager, when I explained all the instances of poor service I had received proceeded to argue with me about how there was nothing she could do, that I should have told her my service was bad when I checked into the hotel, and that she was not able to control their guests. I initially was not making complaints to have anything comped, but I think that was her assumption, and she several times over talked me, not listening to the several instances taken together and how poor of an experience I had there. I didn't want anything to be comped. I only have one opportunity to take time off work for a vacation, and this experience was so poor, that I found myself having no desire to return to the town, which was beautiful. The motel offered very little in the way of convenience and pleasure items (no pool area, vending machine, etc). But, for the money we spent, my expectation would be that there would be good service from friendly people who happened to be a family owned business. That was the furthest thing from the truth and I regret taking the advice I got to go there.

The pictures of the newly remodeled rooms helped me decide to give the Comfort Inn a try. When I called and explained why I was making a short notice reservation the young man who answered immediately offered a reduced rate for such occasions. Very nice. We arrived late at night and were greeted by a very pleasant young lady who welcomed us and apologized for the fact that the lobby was still under renovation. She also apologized that the elevators were temporarily out of order due to the construction. She was a tiny little lady yet offered to carry our heavy luggage up to the second floor for us (a visiting hockey league took up the first floor). Of course I declined her offer but was impressed with this second example of the staffs eager willingness to be of service! Our room was freshly remodeled and very nice. I think the bed will benefit from a bit more break in but was pretty comfortable if not a little firm. Breakfast was what you expect from a continental breakfast. Egg patties, fruit, breads, waffle maker ect. It was here yet again that the staff showed their eagerness to serve when I wandered down late to a closed breakfast eating room and was greeted by a very nice young lady who opened up the various cabinets to ensure I was able to make plates for my wife and me before reclosing for the day. It really is the service that has me giving this hotel the fifth star. The remodeled rooms are very nice and a great bargain but it is the staff that puts this place over the top! Great job!

Untold spills and stains were blatantly obvious. After seeing this we'd better thoroughly check out our room. We found crumbs or debris in several of the corners-- possibly a cherry stem -- what looked like a bit of cookie- and a pill with other debris on the floor in front of one of the beds. We took a few pictures, but after a few minutes we're so grossed out we decided to stop looking as we could not stay here. We returned the room keys and explained the situation to the front desk clerk. She herself checked the room but didn't see anything so my husband went back and pointed out the pill and some of the debris. The thing is, if all that debris was obvious, what else were we missing? ? The manager was contacted, we were offered another room (to which we shuddered at the thought of) and declined. The manager then said we had to reach out to Booking.com to recover any of our money I'm pretty aggravated as I have not been able to reach Booking.com yet. I'm probably just out the money. When I went to book this hotel, I did not intentionally go through Booking.com. I am sure I just searched the Internet for the name of the hotel in the town, and was prompted to use Booking.com to make this reservation. So beware, if you're going to stay here, make sure you contact the hotel itself otherwise you're at the mercy of a third-party should an issue arise

When you make a reservation you can add details about your visit - we were here for my fiancé's birthday, so I added that detail at some point. We also brought along our dog as some of the rooms are pet friendly. Check-in process was super easy and the staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable! Shout out to Erica! She let us know about a bunch of dog-friendly establishments in the area and gave our pup lots of pets. When we got to the room, we were delighted to find dog bowls out and on the floor, extra poop bags on the desk, a special cookie and a bandana for our pup, AND a birthday card! Talk about going above and beyond! Everything in our room was comfy and super clean, we had a fantastic stay. Also - you cannot beat the location. Right downtown and walkable distance to so many delicious restaurants. We were able to walk to every meal even in the depths of winter, which was a huge plus because we didn't have to worry about always getting the car out. Would absolutely stay here again!!

My most recent stay was in room 3 3/4, a 2 bedroom area with a living room and fridge. It was perfect for a low key family vacation that ended in games/movies each night. The rooms are well equipped, and there are nice little details like heated bathroom floors. My only suggestion would be to add a microwave to room 3 3/4 as there is room on the counter and it would make the space even more livable (there is a microwave in the hotel lounge). The best part about The Grove is the staff. On our last visit the hotel staff offered to show us the cool motel rooms the next day because we were curious. She also had some great recommendations and answers to our sillier questions like "where can we pet goats?" I'm attaching all the Grove pics I can find, the colorful ones are the most recent.
