This is the best charter in the Islamorada and the Florida Keys, Rick the captain is an outstanding captain and fisherman, professional, fun and extremely skilled. He's dedicated to giving you the best experience. Be prepared to catch loads of Wahoo! A beautiful sunset cruise with him is a must! We had an unforgettable day. The boat is modern, clean and well equipped. I highly recommend this charter above all the others in the Keys! read more

One of the worst charters I've been in 15 years of fishing experience, I came from LA wanted to fish in the Florida keys me and my 2 sons decided to go out with this guy He treated us horrible made us feel very uncomfortable, me and my kids we reel with our right hand we politely asked him can you please change the handle to the right side so we can fish comfortably and enjoy our fishing day but he responded LEARN TO FISH WITH YOUR LEFT HAND ) In a very aggressive voice There was too many horrible experiences with guy that he calls himself a CAPTAIN! Long story short. !! PLEASE DONT BOOK WILL BE A NIGHTMARE I DONT WANT ANYONE TO EXPERIENCE WHAT WE FELT!! The service of the maid was an excellent 10/10 one of the best service I've experienced in the fishing industry read more

Absolutely the strongest recommendation possible. Captain Rick and Tommy were remarkable in ensuring everyone had a good time and we caught an amazing variety of fish. Balihoo, Red Snapper, Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Vermilion, Blue Parrot, Almaco Jack and Bahnita. They worked their tales off while being personable. Boat was crystal clean and comfortable even in a rough sea. Make sure you ensure a successful and good time and book your charter with them - pic does not show all we caught read more

I can't express how happy we are with Seahorse Chatters. Patti and I have been fishing in many places, Hawaii, Boca Grand, Montauk, SoCal etc. and Capt. Rick Rodriguez and his Mate Cole work hard to make your trip fun, exciting and most of all, make sure you catch fish. There are bigger, prettier boats then Seahorse (no offense Capt.), in fact we saw a lot of them at Whale Harbor sitting in their slips, but Seahorse is the real deal. She gets the job done. We brought home beautiful dolphin on a half day charter, that's a lot of fish in a short period of time. read more

We had a great time with Capt Rick and Lee! 20 dolphin fish, 2 tuna and 2 barracuda. We'd definitely book a charter with him again! Thanks, Rick!! read more

We had a great time and caught a lot of fish. Be sure to wear a real boat shoe, things get wet and slippery and it's no fun to slide around especially when it's time to reel in the big one! The crew was pretty good about explaining what was happening before or at each step, so we learned a lot about fishing. Overall a great day, we are excited to go again. read more

Had the best time fishing with Captain Rick and first mate Cole we caught our limit of mahi, a tuna and had a wahoo hooked 3 times!! These guys are awesome they work as a team and make sure you get good fish. We had a great time it felt good going back to the harbor and hanging up the catch while all the jealous eyes watching. Someone said we caught more than the whole harbor combine that day! It was a day of learning and improving our fishing skills. Rick guides and directs you to the biggest fish. After our experience I wouldn't go out with another Captain in the Keys! read more

Even in less than perfect weather, Sea Horse Charters made The Perfect Storm swells into the perfect Bachelor party fishing trip. As we ventured into rain and choppy waters, Captain Rick put us on more Tuna than we had hands to reel in. With the help of our expert crew, Cole, we did in fact catch our limit in Tuna. After expertly navigating the high seas, Captain Rick lead us to our first break in the clouds, the bright blue water, sun on our face, dream worthy type of conditions we'd all hit snooze to enjoy more of. With an almost supernatural talent, Captain Rick immediately spotted a monster lurking below us, and at the drop of a hat, Cole had a line in the water. At that point, my head went into cinematic mode as everything around me fell into slow motion. Almost instantaneously, Captain Rick called it out, Cole tossed the line, and I was at battle with an aquatic enemy who stood no chance. Through the expert guidance from Cole, like Mr Miyagi showing Daniel to wax on and wax off, and my boys cheering me on, we had that dastardly barracuda on board and in the ice chest. We continued to troll the waters for as long as we wanted, catching several other fish, but what was most memorable, were the incredible people taking care of us all day. Captain Rick and Cole of Sea Horse Charters made an epic day out of weather that most people would have dodged entirely. Our group felt safe, incredibly well tended to, and I'm still not sure if I was more sore from trying to gain my sea legs or the constant laughter while out at sea. Sea Horse Charters provided an incredible experience for my bachelor party that I will never forget, and you can guarantee I'll make the trip from Texas to fish with these guys again. read more

We went on the seahorse with Captain Rick and first mate Cole. There was 3 of us girls going out for my birthday to have a good time fishing in the keys. I've never caught a fish before so I think I was good luck because we pulled in 27 mahi all at one spot. My heart was racing it was such a rush, we were going over and under each to make sure our lines were not crossed, pulling in fish left and right, fish flopping on the deck wow the most fun I've had in a long time. The guys were so nice to us girls and I can say we learned a lot from Captain Rick, him and Cole are both sweethearts. I had the time of my life out there catching all those fish I can't wait to go out again next time I'm down. read more

The trip was absolutely awesome!!! The sea was a bit rough and we were in a bit of a transitional period so there wasn't much to expect but the crew got it done. Took us to some great spots and we tore them up. Ended up with about 45 fish. Tommy and the crew provided top quality service and laughs. We have used sea horse charters in the past and will for sure be returning again. read more

This is our second time chartering with Captain Rick on Seahorse Charters. The first time we met him unfortunately I was not able to join them as I was very far along in my pregnancy. It was amazing to see a familiar face when we came back to Islamorada 7 years later with our family of 6. This was an amazing experience for all of us. Our little girls were able to participate in everything, our oldest daughter was even co-captain for our way back from sea. He is extremely kid friendly! His first mate Cole was so kind and patient that he let them help catch all the baitfish and even helped catch some of our mahi mahi. Both times we had a great haul. He just has that magic that puts fish in the boat. Our drive from Chicago was well worth it! read more

We went out for a full day charter with Cpt Rick and his salty first mate Phil and had the best time. It was my first deep sea charter and we lucked out finding these guys. Islamorada has the best fishing in FL and Cpt Rick is the best captain around these waters. We caught Mahi, Giant Amberjacks, 4 ft Barracuda and even lucked out with a Tuna. Make sure you bring a big cooler or plan to ship all the fish home. I'd highly recommend them and plan to using them again with another group of friends soon. read more

My family has booked many fishing charters in Islamorada over the last 20 years and this experience with Captain Rick and Phil last Monday stands out above the rest. Rick understands the many factors that contribute to a successful fishing experience and acts accordingly. He and Phil work comfortably (mostly) together in a professional manner that demonstrate their expertise and enhances results. Their extensive equipment and great knowledge of the waters allowed them to quickly adapt to fish for the Sails, Wahoo, Tuna and Snapper which were our preference. Their explanations about currents, shelves, floating pallets and diving birds were fascinating and enlightening. We caught a variety of Snapper to supply two great dinners at Chef Michaels. We enjoyed the experience, learned a lot and will definitely re-book around Mahi season. Thanks guys! read more

Captain Rick and Jeremy are one of the most experienced team of fishermen I've ever met. The knowledge of the local area and their techniques on maximizing your chance of getting the fish are second to none! Live bait, great equipment and most obvious the true love of what they do for a living and to make your experience a really memorable time. They took us out on Thanksgiving weekend and my friend never went fishing let alone caught a fish. Jeremy talked her through catching a 35 pound sailfish and half hour later we hooked up on a 70 pound sailfish using blue runner and kite fishing, which I've never done and always wanted to. I highly recommend letting them take you out! I also like to support our military vets, as Captain Rick is retired from the Air Force and my uncle was a major in the Air Force which made it even better! Definitely will be back in January to go out again. read more

For about $800 you can go out on the open waters and fish for 1/2 a day with a captain and a mate. They supply bait and rods and all necessary equipment to get you reeling that dinner onto the boat. The guys are knowledgeable in finding the right spot. Very little skill is required just got to pay attention to what they're telling you and watch as you catch one after another. Be sure to bring lunch cause it's not like you can call for Dominos in the open waters also make sure you pick a boat that's going to make you trip all the more worthwhile. Although the trip was awesome our boat was of an older model and kinda took a beating getting to the spot. Even more so heading back and if you're prone to sea sickness (like a buddy of mine) definitely look into to most comfortable boat cause there won't be any seasick pill available to save you. read more

Let's face it, you don't want a boat ride, you want to catch fish, and lots of them...2nd time with Captain Rick, and Jeremy, and don't forget Tommy ! Over 50 dolphin caught on a slow day for the rest of the boats...they won't stop until you are "fished out". Whether your an expert or a novice, the right captain, boat and crew will make this experience something you talk about for a lifetime...all aboard The Seahorse with Captain Rick is what we say read more

We had once in a lifetime experience! A close friend of mine was visiting from across the globe and I wanted to make sure he had a memorable experience. Captain Rick and Phillip (Mate) delivered. We ended up with 18 Mahi from the three shoals of Mahi we encountered !! We almost landed a trophy that got away at the very last moment. I have fished in Costa Rica, Hawaii, Maryland, etc. etc. and always appreciate a crew who go the extra mile to make sure you catch fish and have a great time. Capt. Rick and Phillip are a team I appreciate. I will definitely fish with Capt. Rick again. This is an incredible experience - Calm until the Captain and Mate find the fish, then complete frenzy with 5 or 6 rods buzzing at the same time with fish on them. It is fascinating to watch Captain Rick calling out plays from the top tower while maneuvering the boat and Phillip casting the rods with precision to hook the fish. Since all of us were fishing for Mahi for the first time, Phillip had to work extra hard - quickly put bait on the hook that he pulled off a fish, cast and hook the next fish, make sure we didn't cross lines as we were reeling in the catch, gaff the catch and toss it in the cooler, etc. etc. all while 5 or 6 rods are buzzing with fish !!! It is simply amazing to watch these guys work. read more

Be wary folks. Last year 5 of us booked the Sea Horse for a full day "food fish " trip. We enjoy taking our own fresh fish to local restaurants for dinner, and we all wanted action. Instead, the captain decided on his own to chase around for sail fish much of the day. This fishing was poor and mostly we all just sat around doing nothing. Last trip on the Sea Horse. read more

Capt Rick and his mate Phil are the ultimate professionals. They both worked very hard to make sure that my son and I had the experience we wanted. Phil never stopped working and is a wonderful young man. The boat is not as flashy as some that are out there but I cannot think of anything we were missing. The trip is absolutely worth every penny. read more

Capt. Rick and his crew were awesome! We caught amberjack, blackfin tuna, and even a bull shark. It was a blast, the weather was perfect, and I highly recommend this charter to anyone interested in a day at sea! Also, do not bring bananas on board. They're bad luck... if you throw them overboard you'll start reeling in the slobs. read more

If you are lucky enough to go fishing while you are in the Florida Keys... I recommend you go with Captain Rick of Seahorse Charters! We had a fabulous day of fishing! He is awesome- he knows where to take you to catch fish, he is friendly and knowledgeable. His first mate Joe was wonderful and worked really hard to make sure our fishing adventure was a wonderful experience! Both went out of their way to make the day fun and we caught a bunch of fish! We had both experienced and inexperienced fishermen in our group (ranging in age from 13 to 55) and everyone had a blast! We will definitely fish with Captain Rick again! And we highly recommend him as a fishing charter in Islamorada, FL and surrounding areas! read more

This boat flies more sailfish flags than any boat in Islamorada, either is the biggest liar or the best fisherman in the world. I have fished next to him and never seen a sailfish jump behind his boat and yet he flies sailfish flags. I have fished for 40 years and only one sailfish in all those years did not jump. Lots of review rave about his guy but people who have been on his boat tell me he yelled at them and get upset. Its time someone question the greatness of this operation. He should be the winner of every sailfish tournament in the world if he is as good as his flag flying. read more
