They were here at the exact quoted time and were extremely professional and efficient. Bill did an excellent job cleaning up our overgrown trees and even took off some branches of a forth tree as far up as second story window to ensure it would no longer scrape against the roof and building until we decide to have that one worked on. He and his employee were very friendly, answered questions and completed the entire job quickly. They stayed completely to the price quoted two weeks earlier and it was a very reasonable price compared to other professional tree services. He also let me know that for the next trees we were looking to have done in the future what the quote was per tree and that it would be good through fall. I also felt that this was completely reasonable since the market fluctuates year to year and wouldn't expect a quoted price to be the same a year later. I appreciated his being up front with his pricing and this was also something I was told by all the other companies I received other quotes from earlier. I will definitely be using them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking to have trees trimmed, cut down or for stump removal.

If not, call R&J Tree Service, their Quote was 1/3 of the cost, they were much quicker and so much cleaner than Urban Tree Service. For some background, I had a large tree I needed cut down and Urban Tree Service gave me a quote to break it up into two jobs. He asked I call him the next year to get it done but I held off and didn't call him back until the second year. During this two year period I really helped out his business that just started by getting him a bunch of referrals which he thanked me for. Initially he quoted me $1,500 for the second job but when he came this year he wouldn't honor the initial quote and increased his bid to $3,500! That's well over double what he had quoted me just a few years back. Called R&J and they cut it down today for $1,200. How quickly people forget who helped them out by the referrals when they needed them. Will never use or recommend Urban Tree Service again.

They came to look at the job Friday as promised. This business is licensed, insured, & gave me a very fair-priced quote. Now my siding & window contractor will not be required longer to struggle with the hedge in their way. I will not hesitate to use PK & Son services again & highly recommend them.

However, while grinding the stump, they cut through our buried pet fence wire and didn't mention it until we brought it up. I would have liked them to ask upfront if we had anything buried before starting the job -- especially since we have a pet fence sign in the yard, and I believe the wire was marked. After my review, I received responses from Jason and Chad. I've since spoken with numerous people, all of whom said they should have asked about underground systems before starting. Chad disagreed and pointed to the fine print stating it's the homeowner's responsibility to inform them. Here's how I see it: * Homeowner's part: Yes, it's our responsibility to mention private underground lines, but most homeowners don't think of things like pet fences unless they're asked. * Contractor's part: As professionals doing below-surface work, it's standard due diligence to ask about buried systems that won't be marked by 811. Not asking at all shows a lack of care, and they've likely run into this scenario before. In my opinion, this was a shared responsibility, not solely mine. A reasonable contractor would at least acknowledge the mistake and possibly offer to help with repairs, especially if the fix is minor. Overall: 2 stars -- Some good, some bad, but the post work communication left a sour taste.
