Acoya Shea has been a wonderful transition spot for my mom over the last couple of months…read more.. We were impressed with it from our initial tour. The staff have always been friendly and helpful and the residents genuinely love living here. There is a variety of daily activities for those that want to participate, quality food onsite (all meals included), and plenty of additional amenities that help make living here super convenient. It's also a great location just east of Scottsdale on Shea. The apartments themselves are a great size and the entire facility is clean and vibrant. I'm not sure if this will be "home" for the long term for my mom, but it has been perfect for the time being.

I didn't even realize that this…read moreretirement/assisted living facility was even at this location (across from Butterfield's restaurant, near Shea and Scottsdale) because it's such a new property. Yesterday, I went to visit them and have lunch with them at their facility's restaurant. From the moment I walked in, I marveled at how new and beautiful everything looked. There was even a slight smell of fresh paint to add to the newness. The decor in the lobby was gorgeous and upscale, with high ceilings, inventive light fixtures, and lots of seating. The restaurant offers sit-down service. They have daily specials and a soup of the day. They had a good variety of sandwiches, salads, soups, and desserts for lunch. The brownie was my favorite part of the meal. It was decadent! This facility allows for small pets. There is a dog run area outside. There's also a heated pool and a gorgeous seating area outside with a large television mounted on the wall. My friend showed me the activity schedule. They offer many fitness and enrichment classes, such as art classes in the art studio. There are also bridge, rummikub, and mahjong groups that meet on a regular basis. This facility is not yet at 100% capacity. I would definitely recommend booking a tour if you are in the market for retirement living, assisted living, or memory care.

When I…read morefirst spoke with Misty, the Sales Director, I could just feel her warmth come through the phone. When Covid hit, Misty even started stopping by my mom's house or giving her a call just to check on her every couple of weeks to see if she needed anything. I live 5 hours away and my mom was living alone, I can't tell you how much comfort this act of kindness brought to us both. After a few months, my mom was finally able to move into her own apartment on the 3rd floor overlooking the pool. It was like she was on vacation every day! The staff is amazing, they always made sure mom had everything she wanted. They even made special accommodations for my family and I to have a private little birthday party for her complete with her favorite food and margaritas! I always felt like my mother's best interests and making sure she was safe and happy was their top priority.

There are many activities and excursions, an excellent movie theater room, a workout room with exercise equipment, and regular performances by live musicians. She really enjoys the near-weekly "happy hour" with live music and snacks. The restaurant-style dining is also a plus (and the food is GOOD!--the whole family really enjoyed the special Christmas Eve dinner ) Almost every room has a balcony or some sort of outdoor access. My Mom loves to have her morning coffee on her private balcony. The management and staff has also been great about communication with me about any concerns that have about my Mom. The Management has done a great job is creating a real community where the residents and staff truly care about each other.

First of all, the Auberge at Scottsdale's online marketing materials, social media outlets and on…read moresite presentation materials describe the Auberge as an assisted living and memory care community. We moved my mother into her (apartment) room on September 30th. It became clear immediately that she was the only assisted living resident in the entire place and all other residents were memory care. When touring other communites that offer both memory care and assisted living they are seperate. Memory Care is typically a locked down unit as the residents can become combative. We felt that the marketing material and the presentation was a misrepresentation of their current operating model. We had an in home medical evaluation mom prior to signing a lease. We were asked if she had a dementia or Alzhiemer's diagnosis. I stated no, her diagnosis is malnutriton. We were told that was not a problem as they were both memory care and assisted living. Our mom is bed bound. We were told and it is printed in the handbook that each room is equipped with a bedside emergency call button and a land line phone hook up. NOT TRUE!! the call button is a the entrance and bathroom. There is no phone hook up available!! Mom had many unwanted visitors who wandered in to her room. She had no way to call for help. They touched her belongings, used her bathroom and touched her. She couldn't call for help or reach emergency contacts! DO NOT PLACE A LOVED ONE AT THE AUBERGE. THEY ARE LIARS AND ONLY IN IT FOR THE MONEY. THEY PREY ON THE VULNERABLE.
