Went to a jazz event there and the food was great. The place was made up real nice from the Chef to the servers.

Scott's Grand is top notch and I wouldn't go any place else. It's convenient and the price is right.

According to the signed agreement We had the space from 3 pm- 12 Midnight. Right before 9:30 the owner came in and started cleaning up around us while my guests were still at their tables. When questioned about it, she simply stated she was "just trying to help". She was rude!!! This made my guests and myself uncomfortable as it felt like we were being pushed out the door prematurely. SHE NEVER STOPPED!!!! She said that we had until 11 pm which was really MIDNIGHT!! Most of my guests ended up leaving by 10:30. The rest of us left by 11pm. She never stopped breathing down our necks. VERY UNCOMFORTABLE!!! Please, do better with the next people that rent from you!!!

The servers kept the pizza buffet full and plenty of deserts. I would not say a fancy place but it really was very functional for what we needed. A small bar when we walked in for drinks and a table for our check in. Then you walk into a pretty large room. We had around 50 people which the room held perfectly. So groups up to around 75 would probably be able to use this for a meeting or dinner. I thought the pizza was pretty darn good as well.

Once within you see it's not just local vendors but a healing space featuring wellness studios, esthetician services, and meeting places where folks gather for events from yoga to presentations. There's a water refill station inside and a great restroom with sinks available indoor and out of the actual restroom. I noticed some meeting places as well with transparent walls good for community gatherings. Some notable places I've seen are The Sanctuary, DandiLion wax studio, and the Charleston Wellness Studio. Upon reading another Yelp review I loved they offer a venue space as well which would be great for showers or weddings perhaps! Something to look into. Another wonderful addition to the Schoolhouse is the picturesque garden next door. Enjoyed the flowers and greenery before embarking on my next task. Very peaceful space.

The Schoolhouse is a fairly new event center, I believe it has been about a year? More or less,…read morecould be wrong. At any rate, we were looking for a spot to hold our mom's 70th birthday surprise party. We were struggling with finding availability on a Saturday afternoon - church reception halls were booked, other venues were booked, and then other venues just wanted to charge too much for a birthday party (charging us Charleston wedding prices!!). The Schoolhouse actually did not come up in our search, but was recommended to my sister. My sister immediately contacted the Schoolhouse to check availability. They have a couple different rooms that are rentable, depending on size. We didn't need anything too big, so we were able to rent out the Music Room. Small room good for 30-40 people. They supply the chairs/tables with the rental. On the day of, Heather was there to meet us, and gave me her number in case we had any questions. I will say, the only issue was that there was another group that had a function going on in the next room and they had come in and taken one of our tables. So we had to take it back! Not a big issue, since Heather took charge, but it just seems like people don't understand that multiple events can go on. That is the biggest issue that I see with this space, is that people don't understand that multiple events can go on. Obviously, if you are the one renting it, then you know it, but your guests do not. So as we were setting up, we had the doors open so that we could bring stuff in from the cars. Well there were some random people that just walked into and through our room. Do you not see us setting up? Then eventually two people came in and were on the floor giving massages (what in the world??) - not sure if they were tenants or from the other party. Again, do you not see us setting up? We told them we had this space reserved, and they were willing to leave. Then I guess the party next door did not bring enough supplies, coming in and asking us for cups. No, we bought these for our party. I wouldn't say this is a fault to the event center, but a fault to guests/other people renting, to give other people common courtesy. We did end up closing all doors once we got everything inside from all of the cars, and had no other issues. My only suggestion would be to maybe have signs in place by the rental facility showing that "this room is privately reserved today, please do not enter". During the actual party with the room filled, it did get very warm. It was at least a cool night so that we opened the door to the outside to let cool air in. I'm not sure if we knew how to adjust the temperature or if we could adjust it, but that was our means of just letting the building be and letting cool air in. Also, there is ample parking in front and in back of the building. So your guests do not have to worry about having to park and walk or to pay for parking. Overall, I would definitely recommend this space for a party - reasonably priced, with a great setup on how much space you actually need.

The entrance fee is $32 dollars. It is $18 for ages 7-15, and ages 7 and under are free. You save $3 if you pay online. The extensive driveway and parking lot is not paved and was pretty bad for potholes last February. We arrived about 5 minutes after the 4:00 o'clock tour, and the staff were kind enough to take us to our tour group via a golf cart. If you want to see the inside of the plantation, you HAVE to take a guided tour. The guided tour lasts about 1-1.5 hours and is extremely detailed with many points of interest and knowledgeable tour guides. Parking may be an issue if busy, but there is an auxiliary lot so you should be alright. After your tour is complete, there are some small cottages to explore on your own, a gift shop, and a small museum. Out of all the things to do in Charleston, Drayton Hall should be towards the top of your list. We had a good time!

About 20 miles SE of Summerville and on the right bank of the Ashley River and the pretty Hwy 61 is located this Palladian style mansion that survived both the Revolutionary war and the Civil War and that means a lot when you consider that the Revolutionary War was won in South Carolina regardless of what some will say, you win some and you lose some. The tendency to conserve rather than to restore makes you use your imagination to see how this house must've been back in the early days. Some of the materials were imported from the old world like the heavy columns, quite an achievement considering today would require the use of heavy cranes so the use of labor and imagination directing a large number of people must've been a delicate task. Can't deny the fact that they acknowledge that enslaved people took an important roll in building and running this place, delicate subject but well recognized by the tour guide and the museum in site. The house is the focus of the 600 acre property that was in the hands of seven generations of the Drayton family, amazing structure considering there were no Palladian architects in the area back in 1738 when John Drayton bought the land and it took him 15 years to build. A lot a lot more can be said about this place but I am not a historian just simply recommend everyone to come and experience this place that will transport you in time and will make you appreciate history and legacy. Just wish money was no object to the conservation effort.
