Indeed, it was one of the more beautiful wedding spaces I have been too, but it was so secluded cell phone reception for myself and multiple guests was iffy at best. Not that I was dying to talk on my phone, but I think if you are considering this place for your wedding/event - look into it. I used my cell phone non stop on my wedding day - as getting ahold of your wedding party is crucial. So, just something to think about - may be an issue for some. Wedding was outside on a terrace overlooking a gorgeous area of tree lined land (no tent, but I heard they are available) and it was really spacious. Reception was inside and the banquet room was nice and had huge windows overlooking some woods which was really nice and different from the typical boring banquet facilities. Food was delicious - although I wish the portions had been a little bigger. If i'm drinking for more than 3 hours I need a substantial base. :) All in all - really enjoyed it. About two hours from Chicago, and although we didn't stay at a hotel, there are plenty within 15-20 minutes.

The Goshen Theater is a 590-seat theater in Northeast Indiana's Goshen. It's a historic theater…read morehaving been built in 1905 as the Jefferson Theater. Its opening was a big deal and was attended by then Indiana Governor Frank Hanly. Just a little over a year later, the theater was completely destroyed in a fire. By October 1907, it was back. While it started largely as a stage theater, by the 1910s it was moving into movies and events including such things as hosting evangelist Billy Sunday, Roald Amundsen (famous explorer), and John Philip Sousa with his band. In the 50s or so, it became part of Miller Theaters. In the 1980s, it became part of Kosko Theaters. In 1987, it became wrapped up in a bankruptcy proceeding until 1987 when purchased by Word of Life Church. While there were events, it really stayed a church-centered building until 2014 when a new nonprofit, Goshen Theater, Inc. purchased it. In 2020, renovation was complete. It now has its 600-seat auditorium, a ballroom, a historic-themed lobby, and other gathering spaces that can all be rented. In 2022, it became a centerpiece for Goshen's First Fridays. The theater hosts events, bands, a ton of area youth events, and local/regional performances. I've attended three events here and always make a point to go see it when I'm in the area (typically for one of my fundraising events - which, somewhat oddly, I've never pursued here). I tend to always be a bit more merciful about access when it comes to historic buildings. It's not bad here, though certainly not perfect. If you have specific needs, I'd reach out to the staff - very friendly and helpful. Miller Auditorium is sort of the centerpiece - it's the 595 (NOTE: I've seen 590, 595, and 600 cited in different places)-seat theater that can easily host theatrical productions, movies, concerts, lectures, comedy, etc. They give discounts to local businesses and non-profits. Goshen Theater Ballroom has a capacity of 120 with round tables/chairs; 320 without tables/chairs. It's on the third floor (there is an elevator). It can host A/V equipment, stage platforms, etc. Goshen Theater Ballroom The Lobby is just a really cool space for events. They'll do a small stage if needed. There's a full bar in the South Lobby and they have a concession area. I'm a sucker for traditional marquees and historic theaters. I'm a huge fan of Elkhart County anyway (I look for reasons to go). Goshen Theater is just one of the true jewels of Elkhart County. While I took a photo of the marquee with one of the more progressive events, rest assured there are a ton of other events here. For those concerned with accessibility, I love this statement on their website "Goshen Theater strives to be accessible to all patrons. We offer a variety of seating options for all capabilities, as well as assistive listening devices and sensory backpacks (i.e. noise cancelling headphones, weighted lap pads, sunglasses, and fidget tools) available for free checkout at our Box Office. Additional services available upon request." So, seriously, touch base with them if going and you have concerns. The one thing I'm not sure of - and as a performer I do care - is if the actual stage can be accessible. I don't think it is from the front. Overall, however, this is just a lovely, lovely theater.

We sat outside overlooking the vineyard. Molly was our server. She was friendly and engaging. Lunch was a walleye sandwich with chips for hubby and the fig & prosciutto flatbread for me. The walleye had a crispy crust coating the moist and tender fish. I took a bite of hub's sandwich and it was so good. My flatbread, though, was amazing. I'm all about a good crust and this one was perfection. So crispy, yet light with all air pockets in the crust. Of course, I love anything fig and this didn't disappoint. I ate 3 squares and took the rest with me. Of course being at the vineyard, we ordered a glass of wine. My husband had the albariño and I ordered the sauvignon blanc. I didn't care for the sauvignon blanc. When the manager came by, we raved about the food but I was honest about the wine. She gave me a taste of the chardonnay and she was right. It was good. I was happy she switched my wine. The negatives are the wasps are nuisances, and there were no traps to catch them. I was dodging them the entire meal. I guess it's hazard when dining al fresco. The other annoyance was the water glasses are small, and my water was never refilled and my glass sat empty even with Molly and the manager stopping by during the meal. Since the glass is small, they should leave a bottle of water at the table or make it a point to check and recheck the water glasses. This is a nice stop for lunch on the Michigan wine trail.

The landscaping surrounding the venue is well maintained and offers an additional option for hosting your party. We came here to see the venue for my brother and his fiancee's wedding next summer. The place just invites many ideas to form in regards to having a beautiful and unforgettable wedding. 5 stars for the venue itself. And this is without the decorations, food, and entertainment! If you book this place here for your party, they supply the chairs, tables, and decor. They also have suggested caterers to provide the food for your party. From the moment I stepped out of my car and started walking towards the barn, I knew it was going to be special. The landscaping is breathtaking. The wedding was held outside and luckily the weather was perfect. Afterwards, the appetizers were served on the deck. The bar is inside this beautiful barn. Everything was truly authentic from the tables, to the place settings, to the uniquely furnished bathrooms. They opened up the large barn doors to let the fresh air move throughout the space. The food was very good. It was set up out on the deck as a buffet. Outside in the garden area, games were set up for the guests to play and there was dancing on the deck. A beautiful wedding, at a beautiful location, with a beautiful couple!

After visiting the other half dozen venues in Michiana that can accommodate up to 250 people, we…read moreimmediately fell in love with the South Bend Country Club (SBCC) as our wedding reception venue. I'm definitely not a city person, so anything downtown felt too industrial and cold for me. Hotel ballrooms were fine, but they'd take a lot of lights and decor to ensure the event felt like a wedding, not a conference or business meeting. All the other country clubs we checked out were old, worn, stuffy, or much too cramped for a party our size. The SBCC was perfect - the simple and elegant decor felt warm and welcoming and the high ceilings and oversized windows made the venue feel open and inviting. The drive to the club from downtown South Bend is a scenic 25 minute venture through wooded regions and grassy clearings. The roads are plowed & salted in the winter (January wedding), making transport to the venue a smooth, albeit a bit long, journey. Upon arrival, you'll notice the grounds and exterior structure are well looked after, with plenty of ideal areas, both indoor and outdoor, for pictures. There's a curved stairwell and massive fireplace indoors, classy covered porches, and a number of nearby grassy spaces overlooking the scenic lakes in the distance. You wouldn't be able to tell it's a golf course from the pictures! Furthermore, the oversized double door entrance with a wide foyer provides a warm welcome and the long, covered patio gives the ideal location for a hearty send-off! We had about 200 people on 19 tables with a large head table in front of the fireplace. The room felt very full, but not suffocating, and there was enough space for the dance floor, a DJ, and string trio. They said they could accommodate up to 250, but I don't see how that would fit without putting tables on the upper entrance level. (Note: great venue for 100-200 folks!) Ruth's Chris has an exclusive contract with the South Bend Country Club, so we indulged in excellent food and plated service from Chef Ivan, our coordinator Mary Beth, and their team!
