I paid OOP so I'm not sure how the process works with insurance but there were no issues with payments. All the questions I had, the surgeon answered with transparency and records. I would say, if you expect top tier customer service and sugar-coated words, this office isn't exactly like that. Everyone was blunt and straight to the point which I really appreciate and as long as they get the job done really well, I don't have any complaints.

My surgery was conducted with local anesthesia, so i can't speak for IV sedation or oral sedation. I've had experiences with local anesthesia prior. So I knew what to expect. The numbing....while painful was the least scary part of the procedure. The surgery was EXCRUCIATING.... even with the sedation. but i don't regret having it done, as my teeth were starting to decay because of the lack of space. My advice to anyone considering it. is PLEASE only do it if it's ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. Because i refused IV sedation... the local anesthesia, was painful enough that i started to tear up. I am currently writing this while my head and mouth are throbbing. My mouth is pooling with blood and saliva. i may have even swallowed a little lol. Please remember not to wait until you're 30s or 40s to have it done. The doctor was kind and understanding. Dr Brian Fong: "You were brave, most people fall asleep for the procedure." 10 hour update: I'm still in pain. but a little less than this afternoon. and the bleeding has lessened.

My 18 year old was in pain from one of his wisdom tooth, and the Sacramento Valley Dental Specialists were able to get him in first thing on Saturday morning at 7:00am. The front staff were amazing. The office was so immaculate, and the beverage bar they had was also really nice. The techs and assistants who took us back to take pictures, and go over billing details were great too. My son bravely opted to have all 4 wisdom teeth extracted the same day. Dr. Amir went over my son's xray thoroughly, and explained what the procedure was going to be like. He was kind, patient, and had a great personality. Dr. Amir definitely made the experience for my son more calming and comfortable. After the surgery, they provided my son with a "wrap around head/chin" ice pack for the swelling, which had 2 ice packs one on each side of his cheeks, making icing hands-free. So nice. The healing process went very well. Overall, Dr. Amir and the staff really know what they are doing, and they truly care. I highly recommend them!

While on vacation I started experiencing extreme sensitivity and a throbbing sensation on my bottom…read moreright wisdom tooth (32). Upon returning from my trip, I scheduled an emergency appointment with Luc Dental Care. An x-ray confirmed a large cavity in my wisdom tooth. I was immediately referred to Sacramento Valley Dental Specialists for a tooth extraction. I spoke with a friendly representative at Sacramento Valley Dental Specialists who was able to schedule a next day consultation and oral surgery. The following day I arrived to a group of friendly employees at the front desk that greeted me. Since I filled out the intake form prior to the appointment, I was only seated for two minutes before being ushered to the back. An employee took my blood pressure, administered an x-ray, and informed me that the surgeon would be with me shortly. Shortly after Dr. Fries entered the room and introduced himself. He gave me an overview of the procedure that would be conducted, asked if I had any questions, and then started a short video that informed me about post-extraction care. After the video concluded, I was ushered to another room where Dr. Fries and an employee began administering the local anesthesia. Roughly 10 minutes later, after confirming that the anesthesia had kicked in, Dr Fries began the procedure. Throughout the procedure Dr. Fries and the employee did a great job of communicating what was happening (the wisdom tooth was very stubborn in coming out) and verifying that I was not in pain (although there was slight discomfort). Three days later, strictly following the post-extraction rules, I have no pain (thankfully)...thank you Dr. Fries and the rest of the Sacramento Valley Dental Specialists team!

I'm a big baby and for some reason, dental was my least favorite place to go. ;) I have found Dr. Leo Townsend, DDS to be very professional and gentle! All of his staff are knowledgeable and friendly as well. The entire staff works as a team and are like family. I have my teeth cleaning and exams done regularly. From time to time, I am embarrassed to say they find those pesky little cavities!! My insurance covers most of it and I am out of pocket for a few dollars. Now, when they find something forming with their high tech gadgets, I do not wait. When you wait, and after time it becomes an emergency, that's when more work is needed. This office offers much more services than I've used. There's implant restorations, Invisalign invisible braces, pediatric dentistry, and more. The office is very serene and sterile. All of the staff are friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend Dr. Leo Townsend!

Hands down the best dental office I have ever been to! I have been looking for a new Elk Grove…read moredentist for the past couple months as I was not satisfied with my last one. My boyfriend recommended Villa Vista as he has been coming here for years. Finally made an appointment and they were able to fit me in within a week! Super quick and super easy process. My first appointment was about 2 hours long as it was a new patient appointment and cleaning. The hygienist, Christine, was so nice and super transparent with every step of the way. She explained to me all of the new procedures and technologies they have implemented into their office and so I was made aware what she was doing at all times. When Dr. Tin came in he was super nice as well! Very energetic and I could tell he really cares for his patients. He explained my treatment in a way that made me feel like he wanted to help rather than sell me things that would give me temporary fixes. Overall, all of the staff here are amazing! From the receptionist, hygienist, and doctor! The office is also super clean and one of the prettiest dental offices I have ever seen. If I could rate this office 10 out of 5 stars I would. I will be recommending this dentist to everyone I know!

Then fast forward to friday where i had to rush to the ER at 5am because i started gushing blood nonstop and it took them three different ways to stop the bleeding and what did the job was their last resort which was a medication they use for women in labor... ya. my other issue is not only was i unable to eat or drink water this entire week (i've now lost a lot of weight and a lot of blood) the dentist didn't care or offer any sympathy nor an apology, he was more concerned about the ER people saying he messed up and spent the first 5 minutes with me complaining about them even though he sent me there. he kept trying to find a way to put the blame on me and didn't like that it was a him issue. theres even more that happened but safe to say i don't trust it here anymore and will hopefully not be coming back.

***Updated review: I feel compelled to update my review…read more Based upon my feedback below I received a call from the office acknowledging my concerns. The person said they take the feedback seriously and are working to improve their efficiency in order to respect the patients time. Also, the quality of the care that Dr Castaldo provided was excellent. Minimal pain and quick recovery. For those two reasons, primarily the quality of Dr Castaldo, I'm increasing my rating to 4 stars. If the staff were more patient centric, this practice would have 5 star potential ***. I'm torn to give 2 stars because I can't speak to the quality of care just yet as surgery isn't done. However for the consultation, we were scheduled for 130 and didn't get called back until 230. The receptionist never told us they were behind until I asked after waiting 45 minutes. Then they didn't enter my insurance in correctly so that created further delay. The doctors still document on paper so they're not very efficient, could explain why they're so behind. The staff make excuses about why they're behind and it feels very disrespectful of my time. The practice would benefit from reviewing their processes and look for opportunities to be more efficient. Then they should consider that we're customers that are financially supporting their practice and jobs and treat patients with respect and appreciation, if you know you're behind, tell us when we first arrive and then keep us updated and maybe offer a genuine apology and avoid the excuses. I saw another patient leave due to the wait being too long... Based upon personal recommendations of Dr Castaldo, I'm confident the procedure itself will go smoothly. The doctors just need to realize how much their staff are affecting the reputation of their practice.

The office told me my insurance would be accepted but they didn't submit a pre-treatment authorization so when I arrived for my surgery, I was required to pay the entire bill up front and then get reimbursed by my insurance. I was not told I would be paying the full balance (roughly $5000) up front. The office said they would submit my claim and I would be reimbursed in 2-4 weeks. So, I paid the full balance because I had no other option. After a month, still no reimbursement. The office said my claim was lost when they submitted it the first time so they resubmitted it. Another month goes by and still no reimbursement. The office submitted my claim a 3rd time. Then the office told me to contact my insurance about the claim, which I did, and my insurance stated they sent a check to the office 2 weeks ago. When I informed the office about this, they said they didn't receive a check. I called them the next day after verifying the date and amount of the check and the office said the check was with underwriting. I then contacted my insurance company again and their records show that the check they sent the office was cashed 3 weeks ago. Then, when the office told me they had my check, the amount of the check was less than the amount my insurance sent the office. Also, the office needed me to email my correspondence with my insurance company to verify what I was saying. I continued following up with the office and stated I would come down to the office to clear this up. Finally, after nearly 9 months, I received my reimbursement in two separate checks even though my insurance sent one check to the office. Interestingly, the amount of the two checks combined was more than the one check my insurance sent them so I ended up getting a few hundred dollars more than expected. No, I did not inform the office of this because I think they were trying to not pay me what my insurance reimbursed me and ended making an accounting error in my favor. This office has suspicious billing practices and I will never go to them or refer them to anyone even though the procedure was fine. They have offices throughout Sacramento and I went to the office in South Sacramento. There are plenty of other oral surgeons to choose from
