My mom booked her appointment weeks in advance and even adjusted her schedule to make sure she could attend. The clinic is about 40 minutes away from us, so it already takes effort just to get there. When she arrived, they told her the appointment was cancelled. Apparently, they only made a missed call, no email, no text, no proper notice asking for a referral note. My mom was at work at the time and didn't recognize the number, so she couldn't answer. Canceling an appointment like that, without clear communication, is extremely unprofessional and inconsiderate. This was a very frustrating and disappointing experience, especially after planning ahead and making the trip. Patients deserve better communication and respect for their time. read more

I'll start off by saying the actual orthodontist and the assistant are amazing to talk to. This place is too corporate. 6 receptionists and people everywhere. I live 30 minutes away (an insurance thing). I have to pull my son out of HS which is always a problem. Got here at the 15 minutes before the appointment. After receiving multiple messages reminding me of the time of my appointment. They let me know if I'm late I can be charged. If I don't confirm the appointment on text they can cancel it. I waited over an hour in the waiting room for the appointment. I'm missing work-self employed so if I'm not working I'm losing money. My son is missing school. And they don't have any responsibility to their appointments. Update: I'm still upset by the length of wait but after chatting with customer service in the website. They reached out to me. read more

I had two children who received the same service from the same doctor on the same day and they managed to incorrectly bill one child as in network and one as out of network and made us pay for what the insurance company didn't pay. They will make you pay for their mistake. Run away as fast as you can! Worst customer service here. They try and make you pay for things that are covered under insurance. I once had my cleaning rebooked THREE times! Poor communication. X-rays had to be redone because they were missing the teeth for the referral. Wendy saying she will call back and she doesn't. Dentist doesn't explain things and has the dental assistant explain after he's done. Clearly this is like the McDonalds of dentist. I've had so many problems here. The waiting room is like a zoo, there's never a seat. The front office calls 10 minutes before your appointment asking where you're at as if you're not already driving. Appointments cancelled before the 48 hour time frame to confirm appt. It doesnt seem like anyone knows what they are doing. Illegal business ... Be aware that they do not tell you or charge you the fee up front if there is a copay. After the service you go home without knowing that there is a copay. Then a few days later, you will get an email stating that you owe them the fee, and that email continue to come every week or so until you they collected the fee. It has been an ongoing problem, happened 3 times with our kid, and I'm going to file a complaint to the state after writing this. if your kids under 9, they offered Four wings Xray (I think that what it called) and this is not covered by insurance. First time, when I signed the consent, I signed everything and like any service I would expect if there is a copay they will let me know and charge me ahead. I went home without knowing that there was a charge for the service. Next time, my husband took my son and they did it again, he went home without any copay then a few days later we got an email about the balance again. I called trying to talk to the staff, manager... and still waiting for them to get back to me... then... the craziest thing happened when my other son (who is 16 also received dental care here) went there for his braces appointment and was told that he had to pay for the balance under his brother account otherwise they would refuse to see him. So my 16 years old paid for it. Third time, I told the front desk that I do not want any fours wings copay... however...the Xray tech tried to take Xay and I came to the Xray tech and told her that I don't want any four wings Xray when I saw her taking fours wings Xray on him. She stopped the Xray and came to the doctor to tell her. then they stopped... I'm again currently receiving that repeated email about the $10 copay. I'm looking for a new dentist for my children and recommend people to stay away from this scamming business. read more

The fact I called to make an appointment they said its a 7 to 8 month wait, how you run a business and have a wait list this far out. Reading the reviews and what passed patients said is sad. What it is these dentists get as many as they can in with no care behind it. It all profit to them. Another sad part is if they actually tell people how to properly care for your teeth. I been thru my run of dentists due to having celiac and my teeth falling apart from not absorbing proper nutrients. None ever gave decent or good advice. Being stuck in this medical loop hole sucks and these dentists need to start doing better and actually caring about what they do daily. So if you like waiting this is the dentists for you I guess!! I would like to point out Doctor William Hawkins. I was scheduled for wisdom removal all four, I was already in nitrous oxide and my mouth had already been numb. He came in saying that top two don't have to be removed due to the fact that I'm 25 and most likely at that age they don't come out. There was too much urgency to make a decision when I was already laying down and had my mouth numb, I had already paid, and I was on laughing gas. I just had a bad feeling about this doctor. He didn't even introduce himself when he came in. I had to read his name badge. He wanted to take a break after he removed one tooth, the assistant had to tell him to keep going. Why would you let your patient with an open wound in their mouth wait to complete the procedure?? Anyone would question that. It's been three days since I had my wisdom removed and he never pushed out the medication for antibiotics or pain medication my face has been extremely swollen. I have to wait to receive a call back to make sure my medication has been pushed through. Everyone else was helpful, I just didn't have a good comfortable experience with William Hawkins, he is very questionable. Now I'm worried about a higher chance of infection. read more

My children have gone here since their last location. Staff is always nice and kind. Since they moved, they are always crowded. It feels like an assembly line. The lobby is often so packed, there are no seats. For orthodontic, he is only there on Tuedays, which makes it difficult. Appointments are always far apart. He is very nice but spread between several locations. Once you have left school or work to be at the appointment, we are often checked in and wait another hour or so to be seen. This is frustrating when you could have had your child at school or you have been at work. I called on a Monday morning to cancel a Wednesday afternoon appointment for dental because my child had testing at school. I left a message with all the appropriate information. I called again Tuesday to be sure they got the message off their voicemail. The lady said no and proceeded to lecture me that they need 48 hours (which 8 am on Monday was) or I would be charged $50. Very frustrating when my child misses tests and school, or I have to take several hours off work on Tuesdays waiting for my child to be seen. read more

I brought my brother here to pick up his retainer. He had a 9:30AM appointment on a Tuesday and we showed up 15 min early, like asked, to check him in. Waited 25 min before he was actually taken back and then took another 45 min before he came back out. 45 MINUTES? To get a retainer which his mouth had already been laser scanned. If you guys can't keep your appointment times, stop scheduling so many clients back to back. I am a service provider and I would NEVER make a client wait the way we waited today. I 100% recommend visiting Make A Smile Dental- Elk Grove. I just left my first visit and I have nothing but good things to say. I have had insurance issues the last 3 months, Brenda (front staff) was extremely helpful In guiding me in the right direction and scheduling me out for my future appointment(oral surgery). This place is lucky to have Tiffany (front staff), she is absolutely amazing and made me feel welcomed and I received nothing but respect from her . After months of searching for a location that does CT Scans, I've now found a place. I did a pay a portion for the scan because my insurance does not cover it all but the price was not terrible. In addition to the CT , I got X-rays as well, the back staff that assisted were kind and respectful. I was seen for two reasons , possible root canal needed on my upper left, and a nasty infection in my gum on my upper right side. I met with Dr. Park today. Be very careful going to this establishment I went in to have two teeth pulled. I've had a tooth pulled in the past and I know what to experience afterwards. Dr. William Hawkins was the one who pulled my teeth. He walked in the room introduced himself, pulled my teeth and just walked out. I asked why wasn't I given any prescriptions and he told the nurse just tell her to use something over the counter. Since that day the only way I can sleep is on ice. I have to have an ice pack against my mouth. I am going to report this dentist to the dental association, oh and one more thing when I called "make a smile" to let them know what happened and how much pain I was in you wanna know what they said to me? Call your dentist. So basically the oral surgeon totally effed up my mouth, but they told me I have to go to my regular dentist, can you say pass the buck? A V O I D M A K E A SMILE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you're looking for a dental office that won't keep referring you to some other clinic for work they can't preform smile time is the place for you and the family! at Smile time and make a smile They have everything you could possibly need in one location orthodontist care for braces (Karen is the best in this field for the amount of patients she handles in a day SHE IS THE BOSS!) Endodontists for root canals, periodontist for any gum care, oral surgery for extractions and Pedodontics for children, what more could you want! The front office is very friendly and professional and the back office is great as well. Tiffany was my treatment coordinator and she made it so quick and easy all my appointments were scheduled on the spot! I would highly recommend this place, sometime they do get booked out but they always have cancellations and will always offer something sooner all you have to do is ask, I've had many of my appointments moved up 10/10 for me. read more

I've had my wisdom teeth surgery scheduled for over a year, I call a week before my appointment and they informed me they canceled it in October. I never received an email, call, no notification of this cancellation whatsoever. I was going to drive two hours to this appointment, thank god I had the due diligence to call them to confirm my appointment. And guess what there reason for canceling was? I needed 3 wisdom teeth out, not all 4, and that is against their policy. I would not recommend anyone to go here if you value professionalism. I would give 0 stars if I could. read more

I can't say enough about how amazing the entire staff and experience was. They were attentive and kind. My son had a consult with the endodontist for a root canal. They explained all of their findings to my son. They spoke to him directly and not around him as if he was not there. Overall a wonderful experience. Be careful. They'll asking you to confirm if you want to give your kid the nitrous oxide laughing gas as if its no big deal, and as if its standard procedure, so you just say "sure, yes".
