The front desk staff suggested that Nicki (a relatively new-to-the-team hygienist) could fit me in before my trip. It's always unsettling to try someone new, especially as Chantal has been my hygienist for 10 years, (and what's not to love about Chantal?!) but I was so pleased with my cleaning (and Nicki's personality) that I scheduled my next cleaning with Nicki! My first visit to Dr. Scott Loiselle's office was remarkably stress-free. Mike and all of Dr. Loiselle's staff are courteous and a pleasure to work with. Their invaluable assistance with all the necessary administrative tasks is greatly appreciated and allows a seamless transition to taking care of my dental concern. Dr. Loiselle administered one of the most thorough, comprehensive, and informative exams I've ever had. I've been dealing with a painful, recurring neurological problem for about 10 years. Throughout that time, treatment has mainly concentrated on dealing with the symptoms. Dr. Loiselle reevaluated my condition and, instead of treating these symptoms, attempted to verify what was going on and explore some options in eliminating the cause of the problem. His experience and knowledge of the latest scientific advancements in dentistry provided some incredible clarification and insight, suggesting that rather than a neurological issue, the problem might be caused by complications from an old bone graft. He immediately took steps to verify his findings and prescribed a course of treatment to alleviate the pain and provide more information on his diagnosis. So far, I continue to be optimistic about his evaluation and look forward to possibly eliminating this problem completely. Dr. Loiselle's dedication to his profession is exemplary. Second Visit, Acts 1 and 2: A perfect tuning and polishing of the keyboard started right on time. Tuned to perfection, sounding a bit more like a glockenspiel than a piano, but then the keys are rather small in comparison. After a full session, one key was removed for further study. The teamwork was perfect, the job well done, and the next session is planned for the future, and now the keyboard must have its' fun. If you are in need of a good tuning this is the place to go. I had an appointment with Dr. Loiselle to check on an old implant that had some minor infection. He cleaned the site thoroughly and wrote prescription for some antibiotics. Discussed the bone loss around the implant. Will be doing a follow-up to check on it again in about 3 months and do another set of x-rays to check on the bone loss. Amanda, the Dental Assistance was great helping with the procedure. I used to hate going to the dentist, but not with Dr. Loiselle - he is always so gentle and explains everything so thoroughly. I've been beyond pleased with Dr Scott and staff. I had a dental issue that I thought might be urgent to address quickly. While they were fully booked for the next several days, the receptionist I spoke to conferred with Scott, and he pressed me to come in right away, so he could have a look. He assessed it to need immediate attention. While he sent his staff home to their families, he stayed an hour and a half after their closing time to get my problem stabilized. I have spent years at the dentist, and it is a very stressful event. Dr. Loislle had me try the alpha stim which is a new device approved by the FDA to help with anxiety and other issues. I felt more relaxed, and what was most amazing is when I came home I took my blood pressure and it was the lowest I've had in a long time even after going through a lengthy dental procedure. He did a great job of reattaching it - probably better than its first installation - and I knew that this was the dentist for me. I got a brochure in the mail with a promotional offer for new patients. I just happened to be new to the area and looking for a dentist so I made an appointment. I ended up having to reschedule it and also got on a list for an earlier appointment should one come up. All of my phone calls and interaction with the gals at this office were top-notch. They're friendly, helpful and clear. When I finally did make it in, I found the facility to be clean and comfortable and especially liked that I could fill out my paperwork online. It only took a few minutes and once I was there, I didn't have to wait or deal with stupid clipboards and forms. Nice! My hygienist was Stevie and she is amazing! First of all, she's really good at her job. She was incredibly clear about each step, what was going to happen and what it meant. I liked that. But she's also funny and made spending time in a chair with my mouth open as entertaining as it can be. Plus, my teeth were so clean when she got done! Just gorgeous. I didn't have any issues so I didn't spend very long with the dentist but he was friendly and professional and made me feel welcome. The whole office was welcoming. I really liked this place. We moved to the Coast last year. A friend recommended another dentist who my husband and I did not care for at all. I found Dr. Scott on Yelp and went to his office to make an appointment. They were closed that day but Stevie was there doing paperwork. She is one of the hygentists. We had the best introduction with her. I figured if the rest of the staff is like her, we scored! A couple months later, I went for my first cleaning. It was with Stevie. She is such a delight, friendly, energetic and knowledgable. I'm 52 years old and I've never had a cleaning as good as the one she did. She used several techniques to get my teeth perfectly clean. I also met Dr. Loiselle that day because I had a bad tooth. Two years before this, I bought new cars for both my dentist and Endodontist from all the dental work I've had done. It looks like I'm in for another bad dental year. One of my root canals went bad and the tooth had to come out. I'm now looking at an implant. I went in for an extraction and scared. I HATE dental pain and with my Fibromyalgia, it makes everything worse. Dr. Loiselle has such a fantastic bedside manner. He was comforting, soothing and reassuring. He offered me Nitrous Oxide. That's new to me. I will never be afraid of major dental work again!! I had an extraction and bone graft for a future implant. It went smoothly and I was able to drive myself home. Dr. Loiselle even played music I like which really calmed me down too. Later that night he phoned me at home to see how I was feeling. He told me to call him over the weekend if I have any problems. It is such a huge relief to have such an outstanding dentist and his staff here on the coast. Half our doctors we have to drive to the valley or Portland. I went for a cleaning and they completely allayed my fears. They were unbelievably patient and kept their sense of humor the whole time. Spirit delivered me to this excellent dentist whom I feel has literally saved my life! I live far north in WA state, but have been in Newport for 62 days now caring for my son who contracted a very strange syndrome and very nearly lost his life. So my own needs went untended. But Friday it was apparent that swelling and a foul taste in my mouth had to be addressed so I went to the ER room for antibiotics. Saturday I searched online the list of dentists and chose Scott Loiselle's office because he had the most reviews and they were all glowing. I called his office and to my surprise he answered as he was in the office moving furniture around. I told him my situation and that Monday I had to take my son to the VA hospital in Portand. So he made an appointment for me to come in on Tuesday at 9:30. He knew exactly what had to be done and since it was a large back molar I would need to get an implant six months down the road. So he did a quick removal of the crown, cut the gum, drilled a bit on one root, slit sideways to expose the other two longer roots and pushed them out sideways to avoid them cracking. He had to scape bone a little to be sure all the infection was out. He put in a bone graft, sealed it quite well and took some stitches that will dissolve in a few more days. I didn't need pain medication. He sent me home with some gel to put on the incision site. Tuesday evening he called me to check and make sure I was doing OK. I was fine, resting reading and so ecstatic that I could begin healing from this whole stressful event. Dr Loiselle even gave me his cell number in case I had an issue or question. I have never been through such a painless dental experience. Dr Loiselle is a professional whose demeanor made me confident that I was in good hands. I am so enthused that I may make the journey down here to Newport to visit my son and become a patient from now on. If you want a great dentist, friendly compassionate office staff and prompt attention, choose this one! read more
