Movie was pretty bad. . Haha the staff and food and service areas were in great shape for a Friday night. Good and clean. Washroom were good. Food prices were high. . But that's to be expected now a days wheb going to a movie I suppose read more

Just sen The Odyssey in IMAX 70mm. the biggest deception of my live... :( They should NOT be allowed to sell seats in A or B or C raws which are the first seats in front of the screen: it gives a very bad experience, it is too near the screen your neck is painful after 10mn looking on top to see the picture. Plus you see all blurry your eyes do not adapt to fast action scenes... it even gives headaches. After the movie ended I tried all seats, and only the last seats are good. So to me this IMAX 70mm theatre is poorly designed, it is like watching you 70inches TV at home having your noise at 1inch from the screen. My wife and my parents have been so disappointed too. I was thinking to complain to Cineplex for a refund as I really think we got screwed.... Only the popcorn and drinks were good lol... But I have not done it, I am gentleman. I think I got fooled by this Cineplex IMAX 70mm marketing... So get sure to get the Last seats if you want to go for IMAX 70mm!!! All the first raws front seats are not good at all!!! I will go again to see it but not in IMAX 70mm for sure. :) read more

The movie was not great the snacks were over priced but it's the same in any theater, but what made this theater stand out was the comfortable rocking chairs exceptional sound and stunning visuals. The bathrooms were small though but a great experience notheless. Would 100% recommend but chose a good movie read more

For context: My movie was starting at 6:50 so I came 30 minutes early to order food and buy my ticket. After I bought my ticket and poutine I had to wait over 25 minutes for my poutine as the worker in the food area was conversing with and making food solely for his coworkers. read more

IMAX makes everything just a little bit better. The 3D glasses are bigger, making it much easier for people in glasses to enjoy the movie.(I recommend contacts, if you have them). I would rather see a movie later on in the week than opening night. (Unless its a must see movie) You get to enjoy a nearly empty theatre room and silence. Most of the time, you can find spilled popcorn on the carpets. The employees are well mannered. Asking for extra popcorn bags, to split popcorn orders is easy( Some times you get a small brown paper bag, but if you're lucky they will hand you the actual small popcorn bag). read more

It's a nice theatre, but a lot of the time it's really dirty, especially in the afternoon. You'll typically find a lot of popcorn and candy on the floor, and if you're unlucky, incredibly sticky floors thanks to spilled drinks. I'm talking your shoes literally sticking to the floor with each step-sticky. It's disgusting. Aside from that, it's a pretty good theatre with plenty of parking and lots of auditoriums. The TimePlay app is also pretty cool too. If you forget your SceneCard, there is a kiosk that can print you out a temporary one, which is very handy. If you're coming on a busy day (like the release of a popular movie), please be courteous and shower before you get there x) -2 sticky/dirty floors read more

I'm a fan, but no points for progress. Cineplex in Bayers Lake, the former Empire Theatres in Bayers Lake, is doing...okay. I haven't been blown away by the take-over to be honest. Cineplex has a reputation for taking away my favorite popcorn toppings (BBQ and Sour Cream and Chive). So slightly disappointed at their lack of options. When "Timeplay" comes to Halifax, it'll be fun. But for now, it's pretty much the same theatre, just under different management. Customer Service - Great as always. Everyone there works hard. There are the occasional, "I'm bored" expressions on slow days. But in that environment, I let it slip. They are ready to answer your questions and help out. Cleanliness - As far as movie theatres go, it's going good. This one has been around for a long time, so I'm not expecting it to be as shiny as newer ones. It could use a big overhaul on the carpets. But not bad. Screens - Some of the 3D screens are very, very small in comparison to AVX and IMAX. I'm guessing the point is to sell you on AVX or IMAX. But sometimes the movie just isn't playing in either theatre. All I can say is watching "Edge of Tomorrow" in 3D but on a small screen isn't as much fun. So in conclusion, the takeover meant we've lost some stuff. But the theatre is still a good place to go to. Neither awesome, nor bad. Kind of a boring review eh? Just couldn't find the jokes this time.lol Oh and to all my American friends, Theater is spelled Theatre in Canada and England. In case you thought that was a spelling mistake. Just like Center is Centre. Not sure why. read more

This weekend i went to see a movie and ran into issue when trying to buy the tickets. I wont say exactly what it is so people cant exploit it, but they basically gave me $30 in value on my word. Everything else was A-OK, but the good customer service bumped it up for me. read more

The largest theatre in the area. Often very crowded and likely to sell out opening weekend. Still very well run just be aware that I'm not the only person who likes this location read more

I like movies and especially when the theatre isn't too crowded. And when the chairs are really comfy. Which is why I like Bayers Lake. The seats are thick and they even recline a little bit. I go on Tuesdays usually because it's cheap night and sometimes it even isn't that busy. I saw the new Hunger Games movie which is good except the ending is really sudden like the movie was cut off in the middle. read more

I went to see Gravity the movie in Imax 3D. The movie was fine but the whole new branding experience with cinaplex running the show was off to a rocky start. I visited the website to try to find Showtime and ticket prices and was unable to navigate to that info so I called to get the info. I noticed on the webpage and the staff told me when I called that I would get an extra 10% off Tuesdays cheap night price if I joined Scene which is a rewards program. Build points etc etc for stuff etc.. But the extra 10% off sounded good. I got my temporary card right away after filling out the standard info like name address etc etc simple application form. So the issue was when I got to the movie theater the person serving us first tried to scan my printed piece of paper which gave me a chuckle on the inside. I mean come on that looks like it will work???? So she entered the bar code the old school way by typing it then my price rang up without the discount? I was there with a date so I am not going to haggle over 2.40 that was suppose to come off my ticket price as a 10% discount. So I left it at that. Back home I checked my scene log in screen just because I was wondering if my card was even rung in at all??? I got 100 points but bought 2 tickets so it was suppose to be 200 points? So she gave me half the points and no discount. What a mess up. Besides that the Imax 3D is a cool experience but go on Tue to get the cheap rate because I do not think it is worth the Friday night price of about 18 or 19 bucks per ticket. As for the seats they are perfect if you do not have a big guy sitting behind you. The seats recline so the dude behind me was playing football with my seat after I laid back in it to try to get my attention or start a fight but I did not give it to him and just sat the way I wanted. I suggest to avoid stuff like this take the wheelchair seating area in the middle. If 25 people roll in wheelchairs into the place then get up to change seats but if not sit there because you do not have people behind you to put up with. We did sit in wheelchair area first but then moved as we thought it would be a high traffic area over the course of the movie people walking in front of you to get to the bathroom but this is not the case. read more

The comfortable seats are sooooo much better than other movie theatres! More leg room, larger seats. Staff is very helpful and friendly :) Parking might be a challenge on weekend evenings so go early to catch your show on time. read more

I'm not a huge movie goer, but I do from time to time indulge in a film that has piqued my interest or that my friends have recommended to me. I really don't have a problem with the theatres here. Even though somewhat smaller than I'm used to, they are generally semi-clean and the fellow movie goers have better manners than I've experienced elsewhere. My major gripe would be to do with the pricing.. It's simply inexcusable to charge what they charge for.. well... charge for anything! Even if you're a scene card member, the discount doesn't even fully cover the HST!! Movie tix, concessions..the prices are just way out of touch with peoples budgets in current times, and you most definitely don't get your money's worth. I know this is a rehashed topic, since Canadian cinema prices have been embarassingly high for a long time now, especially when compared to in the USA, but now on my last visit I could just not justify such an expense. Not out of budgetary considerations, since I can afford it, but because I find it ethically unacceptable to fleece people like that. Otherwise, kudos to them for hiring disabled people to work there.. It's nice to see a corporation do something for the community and provide jobs to people who may not find employent anywhere else.. read more

Enjoyed the opening night of Deadpool, unlike most people I like the hustle and bustle of opening nights at shows. Unfortunately there was many fowl mouthed people and when they were reported the staff said they could nothing about it. I suggest they change their policy. read more

Dirty Dirty Dirty why do we pay so much to walk through filth? I can stay home in my popcorn free house and save money. I was hoping the new owner would clean it but not so much. Sad to say this location is cleaner than Sackville. That place is gross. read more

Now normally I wouldn't write a scathing review on any local business or pull anyone through the mud, but having been unsuccessful at finding an appropriate resource online to mention this experience, I've resorted to a Yelp review. This past Tuesday evening myself and my partner came in to see a movie and he was coming from work and decided to order the jalapeño burger from the concessions stand -- Even after my comment "they serve meat here?!". Later in the evening he became violently ill with food poisoning and was up for the better part of the night. He had to take the following morning out of the office to be close to the proper facilities. I'm not sure of the meat handling processes practiced on location at the Scotiabank Theatre, but I imagine said processes deserve better monitoring. This very well could have been an odd occurrence, but the fact remains, it ruined our night and my partners productivity the following day. read more

I have been trying to call the enterprise for days. They never answer their phones and I'm very disappointed. The food is extremely overpriced and the popcorn is soggy. For me to go to a movie by myself and get popcorn and a drink it's about 20$!!! If I could give this movie theatre negative stars I would. My friends and I were supposed to go to a new movie that has just been released but now when we go on the website the movie does no longer show up ( it came out a week ago). My friends and I are now going to the mall, we are no longer interested in going to a rundown theatre. I don't recommend!!!!!!! read more

Good food and tea but the service wasnt great. I recently went to see the movie passengers and after I had to use the bathroom I walked into the tiny, cramped and dark bathroom to smell an awful stench witch is normal for a bathroom but this one was 10xs worse I walked into see it packed. Im not sure if they're more than one in the movies but there was only 3 stalls and to walk out there was only enough room for one person at a time. after that I went to the arcade and it's a total rip off, one machine broke so I had to get my tokens back because it was one that toke 4 and I wasn't about to lose 2$ and not even play the game. The man rudly gave me back two tokens after a eye roll and then walked away swaying his hips. Then the machine you get your prices in both so I went back and after waiting about 20 Minuites an employee came and kicked the machine and crused at it the theater is great but staff and washrooms could do some improvement. However the sound and seats where good so I recommend going just don't bother with the arcade and avoid staff as much as possible. Thankyou read more

Messy and dirty food condiment area for an afternoon movie with only like 30 people seeing movies.

They are deffinetley not like the old empire theatres chain. Smaller sizes, higher prices. Not to mention no structure at all for waiting in line for concessions. Had so many kids just jump the line. Sadly where else can one go to watch a movie. Wish ciniplex would pack up their garbage of a buisness and bring back what we had. read more

I like cineplex. It is a nice theatre. But once I got a small popcorn. Every time I get one I count all the pieces (320) but the last time I got a small popcorn, it only had 319 pieces. This makes me very sad because I only eat small popcorn with 320 pieces. read more
