I hesitate to give this any star. My father passed away with rrsp is this credit union. After…read morethey made a mistake and failed to release theses funds when it was time to do so, when the mistake was brought to their attention, ( almost a full year after the time they should have released the funds), they did nothing to alleviate the situation. They have passed bucks, not returned phone calls, told us, "they have no idea why the funds don't get released". It has been months of unanswered phone calls, emails, and finally a letter from our lawyer, and yet? Still no funds or call to explained why. Do not invest with this bank, no one knows what's going on, and God forbid they owe you money, they will make it impossible for you to get it. This bank hopes behind the fact they are a bank and act untouchable. Complaints will be filed but people should be aware of their tactics and non compliance, and I don't wish the nightmare that has been this bank on anyone!! Still waiting.....

I have been banking with Valley First Credit Union for around 10 years and I recently went into…read morethis penticton branch to deposit a damage deposit return cheque from a credible, multi million dollar corporation called West Corp. I waited in line as there was 1 lady in front of me, and only one teller open (on a Saturday), and one teller just sitting at a desk. I stood there for about 10 minutes before the one teller at the desk finally came and asked me if I needed help (DUH!) she then proceeded to tell me she would have to deposit it and hold it until WEDNESDAY because if it were to bounce back, i didn't have enough funds to cover it and the bank would have to cover it. There was no way it would bounce back, and she was rude and belittling. I was extremely angry and proceeded to tell her so, as I walked out. I went to the TD Canada branch (where i also bank) and they deposited it in my account there, NO QUESTIONS ASKED AND NO PROBLEMS! I am thinking of banking full time with TD instead of that ridiculous credit union.

Since moving to Penticton, I wanted to move my accounts from Westminster Credit Union but alas, no…read morebranches here. Meanwhile, Valley First credit union sent a card to "new resident" offering $200 in bonuses to set up an account and deposit pension. Research says TD and Scotiabank are ranked the highest in our country, so I thought I would take my offer card to them and see if they would match it. Scotia bank at 2210 Main St. got cut first as I was told that the branch nearest us (only 2 in town) was closing as of Sept 1st. It didn't help that while I politely waited for my turn, a person came in the front door and walked directly to the one employee working at her desk and asked, "Are you busy?" The employee invited her in while I was madly gesturing to her that I wanted to see her and had been waiting. She saw me but brought the person in and closed the door. I guess I was too polite. . On to TD, where I waited politely by the "Welcome/Help" desk for assistance. After 10 minutes, an overworked teller indicated she would be with me soon. Meanwhile, I watched two male employees studiously ignoring me from their open-doored offices. Another 5 minutes pass, the same teller arrives at the help desk and I explain that I am new to town and want to talk with someone about moving my accounts, asking some questions and finding out what they might do for me. Help person goes to office of one man, spends about 4 minutes explaining, apparently, what it is I want, then comes back and asks if it is just moving accounts over that I want, because if so, I can do that on line. No, says I, I want to talk with someone, which I repeat twice before she asks if I can come back at one. No, can't. I will be going to get my bonuses from Valley First.
