She tried, she really did. She's there all the time and keeps coming back. Your store's letter sign is crooked too.

Horrible customer service. You will never get your haircut on time, be prepared to sit in the waiting room for an extra 30min every time you go in. They overbook and put their poor time management on you to deal with. you will get a crap haircut for $50+ half the time. Save your money, you'll get same quality haircuts at any quick turn around places for a fraction of the price, without having to pay waste your time sitting there waiting for them to catch up. 100% not worth your time or money. read more

Came in for a haircut with faith. She was really nice the entire time. I told her about this girl I liked and how she liked the haircut I wanted and I showed her the haircut and she's obsessed. Thanks faith Update: We're dating. Mega thanks to faith read more

This place does not always have qualified Barbers on Staff. They also charge you, without telling you, there subscription BS. Charged me $88 for a clipper cut and a Ten Year Subscription! I don't even live here! Make sure you know everything before you get in there office/chair because they will charge you everything they can. read more

First and last time going here. Sent my boyfriend here for a haircut based off of the reviews, and he came back with possibly the worst haircut I have ever seen. It's jagged and patchy and not blended whatsoever. Maybe he got a new stylist or something but he should not have been let out of the store like this. Truly really bad. read more

Wendy was great. Experience is always good here. A bit pricey but the relaxing atmosphere makes it worth it.

Scissors and Scotch is a great place for a hair cut and beverage. Reid has been cutting my hair for the last couple of years and does a great job. The whole staff is great at remembering their customers, what they drink, preferences, etc. it makes the experience personal! The app is helpful because reservations are usually needed if you have a preferred stylist! read more

I had a great experience, a great drink and a great haircut. 1. My hair stylist's name is Reid and she does a great job. I showed her what I wanted and she was able to create the look and recommend what products I needed to get that look. She is great and fun to talk to, and I would recommend her if you need a cut. 2. The actual concept is a great idea too, the atmosphere was great and bar area is super nice too. Great drinks and some good company. Overall, great experience and I will be going back. I'd definitely recommend Reid and in general Scissors and Scotch. read more

I am more than dissatisfied with my service today, I have been coming here for some time and always receive excellent service but today was not that way I was a few minutes late due to traffic they did call but I could not answer as I was on my motorcycle, when I arrived I checked in as normal nothing was said about me being late I stood there for 5 minutes waiting and the receptionist calls me over and tells me that I will have to rebook my appointment because I was late The problem I have is that I have spent my fair share of time waiting after my appointment time as they finished up with another customer and never had a problem waiting but the one time I am late I get bumped and cannot get back in until next week. They should have said something when I was checking in instead of letting me stand there and wait There I am done now read more

More like Scotch Then Scissors. I've gone a few times each hoping it'll be a better experience. All signs point to yet. This is the cool kid place. The aesthetic says "successful men come here". The vibe is that this is a refined place for refined men. But below that appealing veneer is Alcoholic Super Cuts. They should sell hats. read more

So I am from out of town and googled barber shops and say this awesome place so I booked to get a haircut I had Liz cut my hair and she did a great job I got the 25 yr and it was great and relaxing I got my hands dipped and came out super soft witch was a first after everything was done I stopped by the bar area and I had one of the best bloody Mary's I've ever had but what was ever better was the very welcoming personality of the bartender Kylie. Very relaxing atmosphere and the bartender had great conversation ended up staying 2 hours after my haircut was done just having drinks and conversation. I'd come back even if I didn't need a haircut and just for drinks from Kylie and great conversation read more

First time here. Whiskey is great. The bar area is so quiet and peaceful. Love it.

This is my first visit to a Des Moines hairstylist because I am fiercely loyal to my hairstylist in another state. My apprehension toward this visit was unfounded. My stylist, Aubrey, was professional and did a stupendous job. I had an idea of how I wanted to look and it gave her an idea at how to accomplish it. She explained everything she was doing while keeping the conversation going. Aubrey worked with an intensity that showed that she is well versed in her craft. At the end, she gave me tips on how to style my hair effectively. Thus far, Aubrey and Scissors and Scotch exceeded my expectations. I plan to elevate this rating to 5 stars depending on how the cut settles after the appointment. 4 stars strictly on Aubrey's professionalism and Scissors and Scotch's atmosphere and ability to make a decent Old Fashioned. 6/27/17: Aubrey is consistent and the second appointment went exceedingly well. Her stylings tips and product recommendations are a hard worth consideration. read more

Very upbeat place. Love the stylist and the cut that was asked for. Like the concept of the business. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. I will go back many many times read more

I've become a bit of an OG here, been going since shortly after they opened. Tiana has always done great for me and I wouldn't go anywhere else. The bar is great and cozy, think cavelike with leather and wood. It's small, but I think that ads to the atmosphere. Very respectable whiskey (and whisky) selection. read more

Had an appointment at 4. The texted to change it to 4:15, which was fine. Got there at 4:15 and waited another 20 minutes. Then asked for hair the same way I have been asking at other places for two years. Mine is not a difficult cut. Suddenly I have an entirely new haircut so I guess they do not listen. read more

Was in town for work and needed a hair cut! Found this place using google and yelp. Was excited about the concept! The whole experience was great and went smoothly! The old fashioned is quite incredible! And my hair looks great!! read more

Tiana is great! Among the Top barbers in des Moines for sure, great fade, very personable, and very open to doing my hair as I want it. Drinks were great too! read more

What a great idea! If you're looking for a unique experience this is a must try. The concept is simple: A place for men to go where they can get an old fashioned straight razor shave, a haircut and a scotch (or whatever you prefer). They have several levels of services available. My wife gifted me a straight razor shave, shampoo and haircut. You'll notice that the place is not an ordinary barber shop the minute you walk in. There is a bar/lounge area with several signature drinks and (you guessed it) many brands of scotch on one side. On the other side is the scissors side of the business. I've never had a straight razor shave and I was a little apprehensive. My fears were soon quelled when the first hot towel (there were several) was placed on my face. They use shaving oil and several products that make the whole experience quite relaxing. The aftershave was cooling and bracing. The shampoo/haircut was also first class. The staff was friendly and really took pride in their work. I would highly recommend guys give it a try. Also, as in my case, it's a great gift for a guy who wants to upgrade from their regular barber and/or experience an old fashioned shave... read more

Nice departure from your normal salon or barber. I did the 25 Yr Old (named after aging of scotch). It included haircut, shampoo, straight razor neck shave, hand and scalp massage with paraffin hand dip. Hot towels were very relaxing. Waiting now for my straight razor shave. Nice atmosphere and relaxing time. read more

Fantastic at haircuts. Needed my hair dyed light and I walked out with YELLOW hair AND I HAD TO PAY FOR IT. You have got to be kidding me.

I've worked with both Reid and Lexi at Scissors and Scotch. Both are really great people PLUS they are extremely skilled at what they do. It's fun to get your haircut with someone who is genuinely interested in you as a person as well as making sure that how you look when you leave is as much a reflection of who you are as much as it is in pride in what they do. Scissors and Scotch is a great retreat with great people (oh, and they make perfect cocktails too!) read more

I have been going here for two years on and off and have to say it is the best place I have been to in my life. The staff is good, drinks are amazing and the atmosphere is on point. I would suggest anyone check it out! read more

My fiancé loved every second of his Scissors & Scotch experience! Reid did an amazing job, best hair cut he's ever had! Coming back ASAP

I count down the days until my next haircut. I became a member a couple months ago and couldn't be happier with it. Looking strictly at the haircut I'm 100% satisfied but when you factor in the bar and the other services it goes above and well beyond what I ever thought a haircut experience could be. read more

Service was unethical. The manager disrespected the women working there and my friends. Would love to go back because of the atmosphere and the potential but the service is horrible. Find another place that'll give you the service you deserve. read more

I'm from a small town in rural Indiana. This was an absolute AWESOME experience. WORTH EVERY PENNY! seriously though.. Treat yourself!

This is place is fantastic, who would have thunk drinking and haircuts. I used to hate to get a haircut because I abhor small talk... but having a drink totally helps. The stylists now know me and I really look good ( which is hard for me) The staff is great although Sarah is not as good at trivia as she thinks she is. Jayden and Madeline as also so nice.... you need to go to here. read more

I brought a party of almost 20 here on my wedding day and couldn't have made a better decision. The staff were super easy to work with and really helped us plan a special morning. The stylists did awesome work; all the guys were super happy. We took a lot of photos during the morning, and all the stylists were good sports about the interruptions. Bonus: They know how to make an awesome cocktail. I can't recommend S+S highly enough! read more

I took my 3 year old son in tonight for a cut. What an interesting and different place. This is a must try. Our stylist was very nice and listened to what I wanted and made sure I liked what she did to his hair before we left. Each cut comes with a beer or mixed drink of your choice, but I am pregnant and my son is underage so we passed. Only $16 for a kids cut, which is a great price in my mind. We will definitely be back. read more

I went there once before the experience was ok and a good enough hair cut. Went back a second time, three hair stylists standing around talking, no other patrons in the place. I checked in with the bar tender to see if I could get a hair cut. "Sorry sir we are booked". Seriously!? Didn't even try to find another available day. I will take all my future business to another establishment. read more

Call ahead before you buy anything there. Turns out they only have one barber, and that one person takes months off of work. I had hoped I was getting my bf a nice relaxing treatment, but with such a huge part of their personnel clocked out you'd be better off pregaming and going to Sport Clips. Staff seemed apathetic. I'm sure it's a nice place but whoever schedules the staff is a poor planner at best. Unreliable. Unacceptable. read more

The services you provide are amazing I have sent several models and they have came back with great positive things about their stylist and the services however there was several complaints about the trainer the customers felt very uncomfortable with her staring at them while they're getting their service they were more nervous of the trainer staring at them then the new stylist cutting their hair I personally brought my son and and I too felt uncomfortable with the trainer Drea just staring no comments no conversation one customer I sent in particular stated that he enjoyed the services however he feels that the trainees should be allowed space to work without someone watching their every move and commenting on errors or suggestions while they have a client in the chair. If you trust whom you hired give them their time to showcase their skills and if they have comments maybe talk to them AFTER their client leaves. I have been a stylist for years and a trainer before this is just a suggestion to keep clients and get new clients... EXCELLENT business. read more
