*NOT INCLUDED ON THEIR WEBSITE*…read more My hair was getting far too long. When I want styling, I usually go to pricier salons - have tried Guy Christian, Ken Picton, and Hair Bauhaus previously which are all around the same price range. However, on this occasion I didn't want any styling. I just wanted a straight chop shorter. No layering, nothing. I saw on their website that this would set me back £16 for a basic haircut no wash or styling. So I washed it myself that morning and headed off hoping for a quick in-and-out. When I got there, I found out that taking more than an inch off means that I have to pay the additional styling prices along with getting my hair washed (again). This starts at £22.95 on their website. Because my hair was long, even though I only wanted about 4 inches off and a straight cut (as I said numerous times) they charged me £35. I'm not a hairdresser, so maybe there was a good reason why just having long hair (even though the styling is not complex) is an additional £13 so if someone can enlighten me that would be great because I just feel ripped off. Cons: - The hairwashing station was very uncomfortable. Their headrests really dig into the neck. At other salons I could virtually fall asleep when getting my hair washed but I found myself massaging my sore neck afterwards and counting the seconds during the whole thing. - The hidden additional charges that you don't find out about until you get there Pros: - Granted it was a very simple request, but the woman who cut my hair did a fine job and I got exactly as I asked for. It was a straight cut and everything was lined up fine so I got wanted I wanted. --- Overall, I would come to Supercuts again for anything simple. However, if you have long hair like me and wanted anything styled, I would pay the extra £20 to go to a more expensive salon and actually have an enjoyable experience.

Absolute rip off. Luckily the woman that actually cut my hair forgot to charge the etc then ;) Won't be going back there again then.

Supercuts - First time in this salon and I definitely won't be going back. When I straightened my hair the next day it was different lengths!

Fair warning - this salon is NOT cheap so if you are going for a very simple style that other…read morehairdressers can pull off I'm not going to recommend it. It's most definitely a high-end place that I recommend only for special occasions of if you're really looking to treat yourself. With that said, I've been to 3 "high-end" salons so far in Cardiff - Guy Christian, Hair Bauhaus, and Ken Picton and I can definitely say that if I were to pick one that I'd come back to - it'd definitely be this place. I came here for hair and makeup for my wedding and made a booking right at opening time (9 AM). - HAIR - (£55) They sat me down straight away upon arrival after taking my coat and umbrella and Matthew was in charge of my hair. Absolutely LOVED him! To preface, I don't really have great fashion sense so when I'm paying for a stylist, I'm hoping that they took full control. Matthew was happy to do so and styled my hair based off what dress I would be wearing. He also walked me through all of his decisions and why! I told them that the top of the dress is lacy with long sleeves and he decided that he wanted to go for an elegant soft look with hair up to focus attention on the lace detail of the dress. The result was fantastic! The picture I included was near the end of the day (I neglected to take a photo of the initial result) so it looked a bit messier than it initially was, but you can still see the very pretty design! - MAKEUP - (£40) I was with Sarah for my makeup and she was very friendly and fabulous. She was a bit more hesitant to take full control compared to Matthew, but she was still nice as she slowly realised that I don't know much about makeup myself! The end result was lovely though and she even taught me which spots I should contour if I were ever to try it myself in the future. I also mentioned to her that I'm a crier so my only request was that my under-eye makeup is limited because it would bound to be ruined (a prophecy that later came true as I started sobbing at the first line of the vows lol). --- Overall, I'm very pleased with the service I received at Ken Picton's salon and would definitely come back. I don't normally do much to style myself, but Ken Picton's is now going to be my go-to in Cardiff if I wanted to do a bit of pampering again. 5 stars for Matthew and Sarah!

The experience of going to Ken Picton is more like a day out than a hair cut. Being a male is an…read moreadvantage as the pricing is slightly better than for women, having a colouring a cut can set you back £110 approximately but a good hair styling for £40 is typical. The staff are always polite and very accommodating offering drinks (alcoholic and non alcoholic) magazines and generally talkative. There are apple macs you can use while your colour is setting. They make a point of remembering you from previous sessions so as to create a real report. They text reminders to keep you informed. It's a very stylish interior hair salon. Opening late on thursdays. Word of advise book in advance.

Fine, very straight hair is always tricky to deal with a lot of hairdressers just try and make it bigger. Doesn't work. With fine hair, if the fringe goes a bit wrong then there is no going back, thinning or tinkering. It needs to be razor straight. So. I couldn't see anymore. I needed a trim. I rang some of the bigger names and some of them refused to trim it, even if I paid, if I hadn't had my hair cut there. Eventually, I gave up, wandered across the road and walked into the first hairdressers I could find. Hair Lounge was a pleasant surprise. It doesn't look much from outside, but inside it is plush and the staff are friendly. I tentatively asked if someone could do my fringe, even though I didn't have my hair cut there, and they were more than happy. I only waited a few minutes and a lovely chap came and got me. He cut my fringe, to my specifications (I know, a hairdresser that listens!) and did it all with a smile. I asked who to pay, and he tried to say there was no charge - so I left a tip. Don't know what it would be like for a full do, but if you're fringe has gone awry...
