La Palue is not the typical pizza joint you'd expect (especially if you are like me and from NY)…read morebut that is likely because of the cultural differences that exist between NY and Plouguerneau. While they promote themselves with their pizzas, I did not eat pizza here and opted for the price fix special instead at 21.90 euros/person. My husband and our 2 friends also had the price fix option. You get an appetizer, main and dessert. OH, THE FOOD IN FRANCE IS SO GOOD I was thinking as I ate my dinner, except for just ONE thing, hence the 4 stars.
I had:
"Assiette de saumon fumé et crevettes, crème aux algues Nori". Smoked salmon and steamed prawns with salad and a mustard sauce. Good stuff.
"Mijoté de filet de lieu jaune et pétoncles, sauce crémée aux algues des Abers" a type of fish which is popular in the region. It was prepared in a cream sauce with a choice of side dish. I opted for the vegetables as my side, and this is the reason for loss of a star. You know when you nuke frozen veggies in the microwave, and they become all mushy, dull, and there is a pool of water? Yeah, that's basically what I got! UGHHH....
Dessert was a chocolate cake filled with molten chocolate with a side of creme fraiche. Nom nom!
The ambiance was quiet and server was kind and patient enough to handle my Franglais! There is a small fireplace which provides warmth and comfort, especially on a gray, rainy and windy day in Bretagne (I was there on one of those days!)
