The room was very nice with great views of the Rhine and the bed was quite comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and well stocked. The room was very quiet and warm. All in all I really enjoyed staying here even though I did not spend a lot of time here. Breakfast was included and it was ok nothing special. The food here is average in my opinion. The service is friendly and staff are nice. All in all a nice hotel I would come back to. The town of Unkel is a romantic old town on the Rhine with lots of interesting building and old Fachwerk architecture.

For our small weekend near the "Drei Maare" we had choosen for Landgasthaus Krebs in Mehren. If you…read morelike it small and not too fancy, it's the perfect place to be. It has a small sauna and if you want to use it, you're likely to be alone, which is just perfect! It's a restaurant too that offers a variety of local specialties. The breakfast buffet that is included in the room is very well taken care of too. The only thing that could be done better are the rooms. They were clean, but they didn't smell very fresh when we were there. The bathroom didn't have windows neither, which made it difficult for the towels to dry, having its impact on the airing too. I would any way recommend this nice hotel with friendly staff for the good price/quality balance and the good location near several places where it's nice for hiking. In the morning on the breakfast table guests receive the weather forecast and a recommended trip printed on paper too.
