Had a major outside water main break. Schuler came and explained everything they were going to do to fix it with as much cost savings as possible. They were very knowledgeable and kept me updated throughout the process. They worked well with the city to fix all issues. Would highly recommend! Karen H. read more

I was charged $600 (after a $40 "coupon") for a technician to come snake a utility sink drain that was easily accessible, "not too bad" and only took 30 min to do. Customer service representative, Dawn, talked over me, clearly read from a script on the services provided and having an "experienced technician come with all of their equipment" despite the refusal-of-service fee only being $89 to bring said experienced technician with their equipment on site. I would NEVER recommend such a criminal company to anyone. For such a proud, family business to rob their clients is such a disgrace to this community and profession. I will never use Schuler ever again. read more

Several years ago I hired Schuler to plumb a laundry room drain pan for me. The salesmen did not bother to measure the area, nor did he give much thought to the shape and dimensions of the pan. The result? A pan that was plumbed so close to the wall that a mere 1.75" exists between the back of my washing machine and the wall to allow for the hoses, and this is with the washing machine as far forward as it can go in the pan. This places a lot of pressure against those hoses. There should be at minimum 6" to 8" of space for the hoses to hang, and there was plenty of room for that. Also, the bottom of my dryer was unable to clear the lip of the pan, so it sits up on wooden blocks, and they even needed to remove trim to fit it all in there. This was their solution in a laundry room that had enough space to accommodate virtually any residential washing machine and clothes dryer out there. I now need a new washing machine, and the only one that will fit depth-wise (and just as poorly) is the identical Speed Queen, which I would never buy again for reasons which are irrelevant. So because of Schuler I will now be washing my clothes by hand because I can't fit any other brand washing machine in that pan. The cost to hire someone else to replumb the pan, remove the bolts which hold the wooden blocks in place, and replace the vinyl flooring they ruined would be astronomical, not to mention, this is a job you should only have to dump money into once. I filed a BBB complaint years ago with no results, though there was plenty of back and forth between us. When I would call the office, I would be hung up on as soon as they heard my name. I left a review on their Facebook. Someone there messaged me that that were sorry and asked what they could do to help. The person who sent that message must not have realized who I was and that 'the orders' were to 'hang up' on me. Once they realized this, my review got zapped, and they blocked me from their page. Google, too. If you're a disatisfied customer, and it will cost too much time and money to fix or redo a job, Schuler will just zap you away. The FTC has now heard from me, and I encourage anyone else out there who has been treated unfairly by this business or any business to do the same, and this includes price gouging. I paid almost 6k for them shrink my laundry room to where it will only ever fit a teeny tiny Speed Queen. That's not fair business practice. I've given them so many opportunities to right their wrong, but when I'm sitting here thinking...what if Speed Queen ever increases the depth of their washing machines to where even theirs won't fit? Or...what if I sell my home? A second-floor laundry with a plumbed-in pan should be a selling point, not a deterrent. Not a good feeling... read more

Schuler Service - 1.75" of space for the hoses. And the purpose of this pan was to protect my home from leaks and water damage, not induce it. - Plumbing Near Me - Allentown, Pennsylvania

after dealing with Shannon and deciding what was going to be installed and where things were going and when it would get started, we just waited and watched the progress. Tom, Kevin and Kayden started the demo and was finished in good time. then the install got started less Kayden for a day or so. then the floor company had 1 day then Tom and Kevin were back for a day or two, then Kayden came back for a day or two with Tom. Tom and Jason finished the work less minor items waiting for arrival and Tom came back to finish the remaining work. all done except the custom shower doors but will be installed when ready. overall, a good job done well in good time. would recommend Schuler anytime read more

Pilot went out on my water heater. My regular plumber was closed for the weekend. Called Schuler who arrived within an hour, and determined pretty quickly that the pilot was out. It took a few minutes to relight it, but it got done successfully. Paid $189 for emergency service, and have no complaints about that, but the fee for relighting and testing the water heater was $426. It seems quite high and people I've talked to claim to have paid a lot less for more complicated jobs, so I would not use them again despite their good service. read more

Outstanding Service from Chuck Bell and Joe Spangler-Riepensell! I recently had a leaking basement and assumed my old sump pump was to blame. Chuck and Joe from Schuler Service arrived and, instead of jumping to conclusions, took the time to assess the entire situation thoroughly. They quickly identified that the water heater was leaking badly and also traced a major source of water back to a downstairs toilet. Only after addressing those possibilities did they inspect the sump pump--which turned out to be over 30 years old and no longer effective. They explained everything clearly, gave me options, and never pressured me. Within three hours, they had installed a new, efficient water heater and a modern sump pump that's been doing an excellent job keeping my basement dry--even through five days of continuous rain. They also referred me to a restoration service to help with the toilet issue. Chuck and Joe were courteous, professional, clean, and even managed to keep things light with their great sense of humor. While no one enjoys unexpected home repairs, these two made a stressful situation so much easier to handle. I'm extremely grateful for their help and highly recommend Schuler Services--especially Chuck and Joe! read more

Really glad we called Schuler Service in Allentown, PA for our plumbing problem! We had family visiting our new home over Labor Day weekend and one of our toilets wasn't flushing properly and the dirty water started coming up out of our shower drain...we weren't sure which plumbing services would be available over the weekend, let alone the holiday weekend, so we started researching online and saw Schuler Service offers plumbing services 24/7. They came out to Topton in just a couple hours to help us out and were thorough in their analysis of what needed to be done. Jason S was very kind and professional - he made sure we understood what the problem was and what needed to be done to fix it - he showed us our new toilet options and costs on his iPad and let us know when he would be back to install the new toilet and hook-up with his colleague Joe S (also super nice and professional!). Really appreciate the responsiveness - will definitely keep Schuler in mind if we need plumbing assistance/bathroom updates in the future! read more

will never call Thai company again it cost me a mortgage ($1440) payment to have a kitchen sink faucet and a bath and shower faucet replaced. It also took the technician 6 plus hours to do this work. Price gouging because they know threat customers need the work done so they charge whatever they want. disgusted by what I had to pay for not hard tasks. I can just imaging if I had a real hard job what they would have tried to charge me. not happy at all feel taken advantage of. do not recommend!!! read more

Admittedly, my issue was fairly simple. My house has old pipes and one of the shut off valves started leaking pretty good out of the blue. I watched a few YouTube videos from some weekend warrior plumbers and people that supposedly know plumbing "hacks" and what it taught me was that I could get lucky and do it myself correctly or I could jack it up and make things exponentially worse. I assumed B which is why I called in a professional. The entire process was beyond easy and everything was as advertised. They sent someone out the next day and gave me a window of when he would arrive. 30 minutes prior the office called and confirmed that Brian was on the way along with sending a text with his picture as promised up front. Brian showed up, saw the issue, explained what he thought was the best course of action and took care of it in a little less than an hour. No runs, no hits and no errors. On a brief sidebar, oh lordy, some of these "reviews" for Schuler crack me up. I truly don't know what people expect. Look, is the pricing a bit expensive? Yes, it is but it's understandable because you need to pay for their time to do something that you can't. If you want cheaper, do it yourself and if you can't, it is what it is. No issues at all with any part of the process and in the future I would definitely call Schuler again. A+ read more

After calling to have service done in our shower with a new faucet, the employee told us it would take 4 hours to complete - it took him 8 hours and I found out after he completed the work and left, we not only had scratches in the tub and shower walls where the employee wasn't working in those areas, the work order was to "open" the wall - the employee sure did - he understood it as "cut into" the wall and left a huge hole in my utility closet, put the shelves back on the wall and used my trash bags to fluff them up to cover the hole! I called days later and invited the owner, Greg Joyce to come to my home, anytime, to see the damage done. He never made it a priority to see the damage his employee left behind. I waited a week. Their overall business operandi is about intentionally creating additional damage so they can add additional money for the business to remodel (because that's another service they provide) what damage was done at the customer's expense. Mine cost me over $2600. Don't trust this company with your hard - earned money in your home if you value it. read more

I was really nervous having them out after reading all the horrible reviews. .. I took a shower and went to turn off the water and it wouldn't shut off so I had to shut off the main water line to the house. I called a bunch of plumbers and Schulers was the only one who said they could make it out the same night for an emergency fee of $189. (Side note, the woman on the phone was lovely.) The technician, Chuck showed up on time and was polite and professional. He was able to shut the water off at the shower so I could turn on the main valve to the house. Unfortunately we have a very specific brand (Grohe) and he didn't have the part to fix the shower. He gave me the price to get the part and labor and said he could do it if that's what we decided to do. read more

I am writing this review for my 78 year old mother. She called for an estimate of a leaky pipe behind the wall. A man showed up and charged her $179 for a verbal agreement of a 1200 charge. No paperwork nothing. I don't know if 179 for an estimate is normal in Allentown but no paperwork? Really? Someone is scheduled to do work this week. And will apparently knock out part of the wall. Who pays for that repair? She is convinced you guys are the best because of all the ad buys and billboards. And she has blind faith. If she is correct and didn't get any paperwork, I pray that she doesn't get ripped off... To be continued.... They came today and charged my 78 year old mother $1,021 for a leaky bathtub faucet. My god. Way to screw over the elderly. No wonder you have to buy ads. She told me she paid $1,021 but her credit card was charged $1895.69. She doesn't know why she was charge the extra $800.00 Still no paperwork or itemized receipts. What are they hiding? If you don't respond That means you're ok with this scam. read more

I would absolutely recommend Schuler Service for remodeling and plumbing services. i have used them multiple times for both services. Most recently a major bathroom remodel. my bathroom was terrible a giant hole in the floor that was coming down to the ceiling in the dining room. it was a pretty significant task. The whole process was fantastic. Sarah helped me immensely with recommendations on what products to get within my budget and also what would look good together. she was available during the whole process even on vacation I had an emergency (toilet broke) and she coordinated staff coming out early to replace it within 2 days they were out!). Project Manager Mike was very helpful I had many questions, emails coordination. it all went smoothly. last but not least, the two individuals who completed the remodel, Jason and Brian. hard workers, worked from the start time to end time everyday. I was so impressed with the amount of work that was done every day. to see my bathroom transform to something that was not only finally functional but beautiful is something I didnt think was in reach. it has taken a huge stress off me as well because I lived many years with this being non functional and literally deteriorating before my eyes. I hope everyone at schulers is aware of how much I appreciate their hard work and efforts. I love my bathroom and I will certainly continue to use your services when needed in the future read more

If you need plumbing work, stay far away from Schuler Service. We needed a flush valve replaced on our upstairs toilet. We paid an $89 service fee for the technician to tell us that it would cost $412 to replace it. Mind, you he said it would take an hour's worth of labor and you can find the part on Amazon for $20. That means they are charging nearly $400/hr for labor. INSANE!!! We just put a brand new, much nicer toilet in our basement for less than that!! If I could rate this company zero stars I would. If you need a plumber, look elsewhere! EDITED TO RESPOND TO OWNER: Regardless of whether or not you charge an hourly rate, an hourly rate can be calculated by taking the total charge, subtracting the amount the materials cost, and dividing the total by the time it takes to complete the job. Your own technician mentioned it wouldn't take more than an hour and I have since talked to people who say they regularly change this part out in under 30 minutes. Answering a phone with a kind voice doesn't justify overcharging clients. According to the other negative reviews, I am not the only one to have an issue with being overcharged. And yes, when you try to charge a customer more money than it costs to replace the toilet to replace a $20 part, that is definitely considered overcharging in my book. read more

Pricing is outrageous, even for plumbing. I've used them in the past, and it wasn't nearly that bad, but they changed to fixed pricing per project a few years ago. I would never trust them again. Sadly, I was even warned they were scam artists. For example, $220 for a 30-second minor drain clog fix. $110 for a toilet plug (5 min). I should have bought the $10 drain snake myself, but they'd charge me $90 just for coming out, even though I was specific about what all I needed before they came out, and then when the plumber got here, he immediately said no he couldn't do what I asked. He suggested I replace the whole utility sink for $1,000 (the sink is $99 at Home Depot). They are ridiculous scam artists that I hope goes out of business. read more

If you look at the Schuler Service website, you would be missing a HUGE part of how this company operates. I PURCHASED four faucets and a shower head. The Schuler tech came to my home and in TWO HOURS he installed everything. The bill was over $1400.00! In talking with Greg Joyce, the owner, he said that the "cost of doing business" was factored into that charge. He would not remit any of the exorbitant charge unless I spoke with him directly. I'm not certain what he thought talking with him would do. It was fairly black and white. Having been a co-owner of a successful business, I can't imagine what would warrant a $700/hour charge. I made a decision to use Schuler. I HIGHLY REGRET my decision. Please beware that all of Schuler's reviews are not glowing...as their website would lead you to believe. P.S. The one star is for the tech who did his job well. read more

I had a leaky valve on our well holding tank. I checked google reviews on local plumbers and was impressed enough to call Schuler Services. They came out to my home later that day. Their diagnosis of the problem was to replace tank and valves since our system was 23 years old. The technician, Ken Williams, got right to work and had a new tank and plumbing installed in a few hours. He had all the necessary parts with him to complete the job. The tank is in a water closet in a finished basement, so if the leak got worse, I would have had water damage. I would highly recommend Schuler Services, as they were prompt, courteous and efficient. read more

Schuler's Service is a major rip off. They lied to me on multiple occasions and overestimated work to an extreme degree. Below I will go into the long explanation of their predatory practices. I bought my house in 2018. When we ordered a Washer and Dryer, someone from Schuler's said that the pipe the washing machine would need to pump water to was too high and we would need a utility sink to ensure we could properly expel the water. I know nearly nothing about plumbing and my parents have a utility sink set up with the laundry so I didn't think much of it. I asked what that would cost me and they quoted me at 3k. I decided this was too much for our means at the time and had them hook it up in the garage where the owner before us had her laundry. Over the next couple years we had several pipe issues in the winter even when shutting the water off (though from the shut off in the garage not in the basement where the pipes ran from). This led to us calling Schuler's out a number of times to fix these pipes. This winter (2022) I decided it was time to suck up the 3k to get our laundry in the basement. I called up Schuler's and they sent Rick out to estimate. He informed me we didn't need a utility sink but instead just an external pump to make sure it could reach the pipe. I waited 3 weeks to get an estimate, in which I had to contact them twice and every time they told me I would have the estimate by x date, that date came and went. Finally I got a call from Rick informing me it would cost $6,431.00, he asked if I wanted it listed out and I said yes. I immediately thought this was an outrageous number for hooking up my washing machine but figured I would wait to see the details of what went into the cost before fighting with the man. What I received next was not an itemized estimate but a brief bullet-pointed list of things that would need to be done as well as the total price as he listed on the phone. I did my best to research the parts and materials listed and when specific part numbers were not included I selected the most expensive versions of the material I could find. With all that I was looking at $750 of materials I gave Schuler's a call and eventually was able to talk to Rick. I asked for an itemized estimate which I was informed they don't provide as to do so would inflate the time it took to get estimates to people. I then grilled him on the cost and where it was coming from. He quickly rattled off materials and their prices which he did so quickly I could only confirm the prices he gave me added to about $1500 and some change I was not able to confirm price or function myself. I asked where the rest of the estimate was coming from and was told two plumbers were needed, one an apprentice which the two are charged at $200/hour and $105/hour(seemed reasonable hourly rate for skilled labor), he claimed 16 hours of work. I confirmed his math but thought 16 hours to hook up the laundry and an external pump seemed extreme. I contacted other plumbers in the area, I also called a buddy over and we moved the machines to the basement ourselves as I didn't want anyone to tell me two plumbers were needed for the job. Young's was the first to come out. The guy from Young's came down to my basement, took a quick look at everything and told me "You don't need me." Stunned, I asked for an explanation. He proceeded to inform me that the pipe wasn't too low for the washing machine to pump to and all I should need to do is buy a longer hose and fit it onto the washing machine. Curious, I did the research this time and found washing machines can pump up to 8 feet after measuring my pipe sitting at about 7'6" from the ground. I bought a new hose and hooked everything up. It worked perfectly. The faucets ended up being a bit leaky and I had Young's come out to fix them. The whole thing cost me $275 between the hose and new faucets. I will never use Schuler's again and will most certainly tell anyone looking for a plumber about this awful and predatory experience with them read more

had a stuck cartridge with college graduation next day had to call Schuler. Came out quoted a price off his ipad ,$337.28, a predetermined price, to remove the cartridge. I was between a rock and a hard spot. Tech says could take 5 mins. or a few hours well then, what if it takes 5 min.? The price is the same $337.28. Sound fair? He pulls the broken unit out in less than one mminute. Receipt does not show breakdown between labor and material. I objected to the bill and requested to be charged a fair price but tough luck. So be carefull. $337.28, the tech arrived, did the job, packed his gear and was gone in 20 min. It took longer to write up the bill than to do the work. Reasonable amount for a $15 part and no more than 5 mins. total labor? You decide. Same situation as Eugene G So, it may be a common practice. read more

NEVER USE THIS COMPANY! They will take advantage of your situation and rip you off!! First of all they charge 2-4x what is industry standard. They suggested work that was not the problem we called for and was not related to the problem. They gave no price breakdown itemizing how much extra we were charged for this other service until we got an email of the bill days after the service. The repair man spent 20 minutes replacing two parts on a pipe, parts costing $15. We were charged $600+. He then spent 40 mins more here complaining unsolicited about work done by a chimney service we had. Turned out he was wrong about those complaints. We recently bought a house a month ago (to date) and didn't think we would have plumbing issues. Well, when you are making dinner and you hear the sewage backing up into your bathtub you don't have a choice. We called around to a few companies around 10pm last night, and were able to get some assistance. When we spoke to the Rep for Schuler Service they advised us they could fit us in first thing in the morning between 8am-10am. To my surprise, we got a call at 8am that service man Jason was just a few minutes away. We had received a text message regarding a background of our service man, and how long he has been with the company. Jason helped us drastically with cleaning our pipes and trying to find our issue. The issue ended up being with the Septic tank, but Jason made us aware of what he could and assisted with the aspects he could. I would give zero stars if I could. This company is a big rip off! They charged my 85-year-old in-laws (who didn't know any better) over $450 to install a faucet that my in-laws had purchased on their own. The job would taken a handyman, mind-you not even a plumber about one hour to complete. However Schuler Services had the nerve to charge them the amount stated above. After we found this out we called to complain and they're explanation was that they were upfront with the installation price and that they could have refused the job. The technician took his good-natured time to complete the work and was there for approximately three hours basically killing time going back-and-forth to his truck to make it look like he was doing a lot of work which he did not. Stay far away from this company as their pricing policy is outrageous !!!! Basically they charge $450 an hour! Who makes that kind of money? Rip off's that's who!!! read more

Very unhappy! I had an emergency sewer back up for a tenant family of mine. I was quoted on the phone $179 for afrer hours emergency service, which I accepted. However they proceeded to tell me that they could not tell me the cost to clear a main sewer drain until the tech was at the home and saw what was happening. When the tech got there, he called me and said the drain needed clearing and would cost and addtional $411 for any clearing between 0-30 feet. They kinda had me my the "you know what"! WHY COULDNT THIS HAVE BEEN DISCLOSED OVER THE PHONE PRIOR TO SERVICE? If this is a minimum charge I could have been told this and explained that if it was a collapsed line or other hard plumbing repair then additonal costs would be callcluated. A minimum fee is just that, known ahead and should have been discussed prior to dispatching someone. People would undersand that a collapsed line is not a clogged clearing issue and would cost way more. But to charge a minimum fee and not be upfront when asked is unfair business practice. The choice is yours to make, you can decline the work and there is NOT any pressure. Jason is very professional and a genuinely friendly person. SS hires people that are back ground verified. As a new homeowner, when we woke up to not hot water, I was stressed out! Less than 10 hours later, no worries... And certainly found it. I could not be happier with everything from the first phone call with the VP a few minutes after emailing them from the website (http://www.schulerservice.com/) to Brian coming out less than 2 hours later to assess the situation and complete the job in less than another hour for a reasonable rate as well as options for alternative projects. Our 10-year old hot water heater is an 80 gallon Bradford White which they do not make anymore.
