Spending a day on lock down in a classroom learning how to responsibly serve alcohol is never fun…read more Especially when you have you pay over a hundred dollars for it. Unfortunately, there's no way around it. When I came to Australia with previous bar experience, I didn't anticipate having to jump over this hurdle in order to get a serving job. Unfortunately, no (law abiding) employer will hire you without your RSA. It's kinda like being stick between a booze bottle and a hard place. I did some online research and found RSA School Sydney. They have courses on every day of the week (omitting Sundays) from either 9:00-3:30pm or 3:30pm-10pm. If you pay in advance, it costs $120. If you're paying on the day, it's $20 more. Basically you go and sit there and listen about how to know when someone's intoxicated, how to make good judgement calls whilst serving booze, and what the Australian laws are surrounding alcohol. You watch a video from sometime in the 90s that teaches you more about drunkards. All I remember is a section showing how frequent alcohol consumption makes men's nipples grow larger. Strange. At the end of the day, you take a test. However, for this test you are allowed to use your notes and the handbook with all the answers in it. Seemingly, you are allowed to consult your neighbors as well, as that's what everyone around me was doing. I don't want to make anyone feel bad, but if you can't pass this test, then you're surly an idiot. In the end, you walk out of there with a certificate saying you passed your RSA course and, If you're like me, you also leave with a peculiar craving for a cocktail.

Please don't waste your Money at the Perth venue…read more.. Ben Taylor didn't teach us about the grind or why or how to change it. he didn't teach us any drink on the menu even though he was supposed to show us all. we did 1 1/4 hours on coffee shots then frothed 2 jugs of milk. had lunch break for one hour and then back for 1pm frothed more and then added to shot and put some dots of froth on the top and showed us love hearts, had previously said that free hand art was too hard and we ran out of milk, even the frozen and slushy milk. all gone. with no attempt to get more milk class finished 2 hours early. We didn't get the SITHFAB Prepare and serve Espresso Coffee, we didn't get any certificate, Any attempt to contact them failed. I did this course as a refresher and for the nationally recognised certificate to increase job opportunities. that hasn't happened, the information I wanted in the course didn't happen, and now it seems I lost my money. Very disappointed, happened 7th Jan yet to get a response or the Certificate.

Thanks to get qualified I am $1500 out of pocket with no qualification!…read more This has been a 6 month long affair. I enrolled to complete a certificate 4 in commerical cookery in June 2015. 2 months later i discovered that my employer a registered training provider(RTO) would in fact fund the course for me through there internal RPL program. Sooo obviously i would not require Get Qualified to obtain an RPL for me anymore. I contacted GQ requested a refund i was sent a refund request form. Filled out the form and emailed it back. GQ acknowledged receiving my form and said there would be a 4-6 week waiting period to get my refund. 4-6 weeks is excessive considering they had no problem taking the money from me ASAP. I patiently waited until i got to the 8 WEEK mark! During this period of waiting no communications were sent to me regarding the progress of my refund. How odd! I called GQ and spoke to a lady called Renna. Apparently she handles all refunds and makes judgement calls whether you get refunded or not! She completely denied my refund and said that i was not eligible for a refund because the reason i wanted a refund was not good enough. I was as you would imagine infuriated! Not only did GQ give me false hope of receiving a refund by sending my a form that they were never going to accept in the first place they made me wait DOUBLE the time a refund should take. I then had to engage THEM! I was offered the chance to use my so called credit with GQ to do another course so that they didnt have to pay up. I refused obviously. Get this through your head please GQ I payed for a service to be delivered. You did NOT deliver that service Therefore give me my dam money back. I have lauched an investigation with the ACCC regarding my treatment and monies owed to me. Thanks Regards Jordan Neave Adelaide South Australia
