I've been here multiple times for parties. They have two pavilions, one with a kitchen and its own…read morebathrooms. They've got a building that's used by the community for events. I really never walked the trails when I've come because I was there for events. With working from home during COVID I've been searching out places for my pup and I to go walk. The park has two trails, one at the north end and one south. The trails run along the Moordenerkill creek. The southern trail has shorter trails leading off of it. There's also a dirt road that seems to be a mile or so long that leads to the Miracle Field (baseball field for disabled people). They've got a new playground and even a dog park for town residents.

A bunch of flat fields people meet at for events and flag football etc. Not tons of shade but enough to keep it enjoyable. Bring water and you will be sure to enjoy!!! :) There has been some concern with suspicious people lurking by parks that's worth mentioning. One lady said she was with the paper and was taking pictures of kids and evaded once questioned. Another man was recently banned for lurking and aggression at the park.

The playground is a bit sparse but it's spacious and has slides and swings. Once part the boardwalk/bridge with streams running underneath, there are several trails although they basically loop or otherwise all connect. There's a path that connects directly to what looks like the baseball field at Lisha Kill Middle School, so we could hear kids play while walking on some part of the trails. I hope this natural space is preserve for a long time for all to enjoy.

The other percentage involved hyperactive children and moms or nannies sitting in the shade with minimum social distance rules. It wasn't a big deal due to the large open space. Yet, it would be nice and polite that if you are not wearing a mask to keep it to your own space socially distant. The stars are primarily aimed at the quality of venue. Great park! Awesome spot for siblings as well.

A nice children's play area was also available, plus lots of grass for kicking a ball around. There were great views of the Hudson River as well as the highway and railroad bridge. Sadly, no trains went by while we were there. They have nice campgrounds which we drove by on the way in, which seemed isolated from each other and well designed. At least a couple of hiking trails were also observed. Well worth the $6 cover charge to get in.

So I started walking down…read morethe trail from an amazing old red barn and got confused when I couldn't even tell where the trail went. I circled back and started again, this time cutting through what looked to be no more than a deer trail through waist high weeds. I wasn't even sure this was the official trail at this point. However. There was a man on a tractor mowing when I started and on my way back, I noticed the trails had been cut clearly in big swaths through the grasses. So I think my timing was just bad as far as that goes. I did find my way to the access road and more traditional gravel/rock trails through the forest to the river's edge. Lovely views. Aside from one moderate hill, I would say it's a fairly gentle hike. I must say other than the trailhead marker and one sign about birds, I never saw any flares/markers or signs showing me the various named trails shown on the map and showing me I was still on the trails. That would be a great addition.

Suggest loading GPS or navigation app before losing signal in the mountains. Of note, and quite a surprise after a score of years closed, the bridge on Umpachene Falls Road has been rebuilt and is open. Yesterday, the falls were rushing abs bracingly cold! While I didn't fully submerge or hide behind the water curtain, I sat in the flow and was transfixed and refreshed for an hour. Remains a Berkshire treasure!

Our group stopped into Saratoga National Historic Park on a Tuesday morning. Many of the parks have…read morelimited hours/opening days due to President Trump's cuts so we were happy to found a park open on a Tuesday. We spent our time at the Visitor Center as we couldn't commit to the road around the park due to other obligations. As we arrived we were invited to a Ranger Talk ne Game Show starting in a few minutes. We joined about 15 other folks outside for the talk/game show. It was awesome. The park's historian presented all of the parties that were blamed for the British army's loss and we chose the quotes from the General's book best attributed to each group. It was lots of fun and I definitely learned a lot in a short 30-40 minutes. When then watched the video inside about the battle's history and explored the visitor center. I'm sure the exhibits and stops around the drive are fantastic. We took a lot away from just our experience with the ranger and the visitor center. I highly recommend this stop to others. It's the first time the British army surrendered in their HISTORY! That's major. Have a great visit!

Having lived in a Boston suburb back in the 80's where the height of the American Revolutionary War…read moretook place all around that area (obviously many years before I was there, lol), I was surprised to learn upon a very recent visit to Saratoga Springs, NY that there is a park that preserves the site of the Battles of Saratoga, the first significant American military defeat of the British army in this period of history. Because we were in town on the opening weekend of the summer horse racing, and because this park is a few miles removed from the center of town, it was virtually empty the day we appeared at the park. Further, the park tour is all done by car, about 10 miles of a paved one-way only road with (10) marked stops. There is also a visitor center at the beginning. To fully engage with the driving tour, one must access their audio narration, which can be easily found and set up. The audio tour discusses each of the 10 marked stops and offers an indepth description of what we were looking at. One could easily get out of the car and walk around or just stay in the car listening to the narration. It is very well set up and so easy to follow along, both in terms of the car route and narration. Also, if one is ambitious enough, one could even bicycle their way through the park's 9 or 10 miles of road. For me, it would've been too hilly, but we saw a number of bikers along the path. Kudos to them for sure ! As with ALL battle sites, when one views the land in times of freedom, and it is quiet, pristine and beautiful (typically), it is (at least for me) difficult to envision that many people lost their lives on the very grounds we would walk (or drive) in order to pave the way for freedom and democracy. If you only knew how much I am having to force myself to remain quiet about THAT in the year 2025 with what is going on in this world and more specifically, this nation of ours, but I will just refrain from going THERE. What I will say is this... especially if you are a history buff... or if you just like viewing beautiful terrain, this park will NOT disappoint. A very nice little detour from the horse racing and whatever else you might be doing in Saratoga Springs !!
