My 6 year old almost died from having a dental procedure done there and ended up getting horrible aspiration pneumonia and when I picked him up, he didn't recognize me and had green stuff coming out of his nose. When I dropped him off in the morning, he was totally fine and when I picked him up, he was extremely sick. The doctor had the nerve to ask me if my dog was like this before he came in for surgery, and I couldn't believe that after everything that I do for my dogs ( which they were well aware of how I take care of my boys), that the doctor thought I would put my dog thru surgery if he was sick! Within 24 hours of his surgery, he was almost dead and septic and spent 2 weeks fighting for his life at WVRC. We ended up spending over $40,000 to save my dogs life because they screwed up somewhere when he was in their care. And to make things even better, my parents dog was misdiagnosed by them and was dead 2 days later because they didn't know what was wrong with her. I will NEVER step foot in this clinic again or will I ever refer them to anyone. I'm so glad I found a wonderful new vet clinic to take care of my boys who doesn't care about the money!

Until our 12-year-old canine love Zoey needed urgent medication for cancer surgery pain -- pain in the wake of tumor surgery performed by that vet. That vet and his telephone staff closed their door -- and that day's appointment schedule -- to a simple, albeit immediate, requested consult. But Dr. Butler immediately opened his door and his heart to our plight. Zoey got the prescription pain meds she needed as soon as we arrived at Parkland. Dr. Butler will very soon be facilitating our last good-bye to Zoey as our friend has days to live for the now rapidly advancing mast cell tumor. It's been just 5 weeks since her surgery at the hands of the other vet. As well, Dr. Butler will be our vet of record for the pointer puppy we have acquired. I feel his vet practice could be described as old style traditional. No whistles and bells here. But rather what I would call traditional veterinary care. And I like that. This veterinarian's focus seems away from the maxing of his bottom line -- in the realization that, with a compassionate approach to animal care and interaction with families, the bottom line will often take care of itself. I mean, seriously? Coupons for vet care along with Pizza Hut and Cousins Subs? Weird. Plus, one of the coupons they always send is a few bucks off a declaw surgery. And they use the word "gentle." ("Gentle, quality, experienced surgical care.") Now, I know Yelp isn't necessarily the place to discuss animal cruelty, but a vet clinic A). should NOT flat-out lie: there's no such thing as a a "gentle" amputation, and B) SHOULD encourage pet owners to treat their pets with dignity and kindness, not try to drum up business for unneeded surgeries by putting coupons in the mail.

I thought I was bringing her in for a uti & he tells me that she actually has a Pyometra. He said he's never seen one in a cat before & never did surgery on one either but he has on dogs before. He gave me 2 options to leave it & it might go away on its own but if it doesn't she could die in a matter of minutes and I couldn't do anything to save her. He assured me that he would do multiple tests & an ultrasound first to be 100% sure that it was definitely a pyometra. He confirmed with physical exam, blood test, urine test, & ultrasound that it was. He said HE could do the emergency surgery that afternoon. This was the day before Christmas so I was glad it could be done right away. They informed me it was going to cost ballpark $4000 give or take depending on what happens. I didn't even care at that point because that whole day was one big shock after another. A few hours later A LADY called me to tell me she was beginning the surgery on my cat. The Vet that said he was doing the surgery did not perform the surgery he wasn't even involved in the surgery. She called me to tell me "great news!!" Turns out my cat didn't actually have a pyometra & she never even needed surgery AT ALL. They said since she was already put to sleep they just went ahead & spayed her right away. They said shes in recovery so I can pick her up and take her home in a few hours. Remember the Vet that 100% CONFIRMED without a doubt that she had a pyometra with all those extra tests they charged me for?! They charged me the FULL PRICE for a surgery she never needed!! Then acted like they were doing me a favor by discounting it $100 because the surgery didn't take as long as they had thought. OBVIOUSLY; because she never needed the surgery in the first place! When I asked the lady at the front to explain this bill to me, explain how this could happen when it was confirmed, explain what even happened she had no explanation and no idea what anything meant because she's not a vet. She went back 3 separate times to get explanations from the so called idiot vet that confirmed everything. I asked to talk to him personally instead of talking through the women at the front desk & he said he was too busy finishing up the closing duties for the night. I'm not the person who runs to the internet to leave a bad review for someone which is why I didn't post this sooner. The more people I told this story too I just kept getting angrier. Im leaving this review now so hopefully other people can read this before they bring their pet here!! I wonder how many people they have scammed!! I was so thankful that my fur baby was alive I didn't push back enough. Being told by someone with no empathy whatsoever that your pet has a 50/50 chance of dying if you don't have this emergency surgery today is insane. These people are not knowledgeable, they have no empathy or bed side manner, they don't care about anything but money. They care about having as many appointments as possible & charging people to the max for things they don't need. Anything & everything! The extremely long list of charges they gave me didn't even make sense. I asked for an itemized copy which they wouldn't give me. I asked for an explanation of multiple of the charges that didn't make sense which I never got. More people need to speak up about this place because I can guarantee they've done this to other people too. Since this was my boyfriend's dog, I hadn't been to the clinic before but he'd been taking his boys there since he moved to the area. It quickly became clear why! Everyone was SO very compassionate, patient, and respectful. Special thanks to Iris and Dr. H for their incredible kindness and compassion. They gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye and made sure his sweet boy was comfortable and respected. They've clearly given thought to how to make this heartbreaking experience less stressful and clinical, which is a huge testament to the incredible people there and the fact they lead with their hearts and love of fur family. The room we went to was not an exam room; it had a couch,soothing lighting and music, and even special treats for your fur baby. There was a candle at the front desk letting others know that someone was saying goodbye and asking to keep voices low so the outside sounds of the clinic didn't trickle in. I was SO deeply moved by their respect and compassion, and I was so impressed with the whole team. If you're looking for a warm, supportive vet clinic, definitely check them out. And if you do ever have to make the difficult decision to say goodbye, this team and their extraordinary environment will make that heartbreaking process a little bit easier.
