the Pompeii exhibition. Before entering the museum I had to wait for a short
amount of time as only groups of people were allowed in at a time. Once you
enter the building it is very astonishing, it is four levels high and set up in
a dim light. The exhibition was quite busy with many visitors, still there was
enough space to look at each artifact. The exhibition described the eruption of
the volcano Vesuv and gave a lot of background of the ancient roman life. The show
focused on the everyday life of the Romans such as the housing, fights and
politics. On display were videos,
paintings, sculptures, pottery and dishes. There were also optional and free
tour guides who were friendly and informative. The permanent exhibitions were
on the Paleolithic period, Mesolithic period, Neolithic period and the early
Bronze Age. Which were all set up beautifully with loads of interesting information
but the highlight was without doubt the Pompeii exhibition. I would encourage
everyone to visit the Landesmusuem in Halle.
