A gorgeous lake in Bavaria. You can catch a train from Munich to this town and, the walk around the lake is gorgeous, as is the walk from here to Tegernsee.
We walked from here to the half way point to Tegernsee and, as we had already done the other half before, we know what the whole walk is like. A spectacular walk with wonderful places to stop along the way for a meal or a drink, up in the mountains. The whole walk takes about 4-6 hours depending on your fitness levels and you climb about 600-800m during the walk. Expect about 2 hours of uphill at a minimum, some easy grade and some pretty steep.
The town of Schliersee has some interesting architecture and loads of cafes and restaurants. The scenery is beautiful and on a sunny day you can spend a day on the lake boating or, just hanging out at one of the many waterfront places.
This was my first time here and I will definitely come back again. Less touristy than Tegernsee and quite a lot of walks in the area. read more
