There are a handful of cafes in the village and a small tourist office. We went out on the lake in a row boat and its a gorgeous big lake surrounded by spectacular mountains. I wish I had a fishing license as this is a place I could spend an entire weekend casting the line and catching nothing :-)) Will definitely return here as its a really nice area and not as busy as some of the other lakes nearby. There are also lots of walks in this area and in other towns close by.

Starnberger See is absolutely beautiful! It's the first place I've seen swans in real life (other…read morethan at Disney Land - sad, I know). I visited in August so it was still quite hot out and there were a lot of people here. My friend and I couldn't find parking so we had to park on the street outside. The experience will differ depending on what side you're on I suppose but there was a lot of little benches around the grassy area and you can sit on the ledge by the water or on the dock. I somehow stepped on a bee so I stood on the dock stairs with my feet in the water for a while. It was really refreshing. There's also a restaurant with a LOT of beach chairs and even tables on their own little dock. It's nice and relaxing. Perfect for hanging out with your friends, family, or going on a date. Definitely recommend coming here if you're in the greater Munich area.

I went for a walk, took it easy and I also grabbed something to eat at a restaurant located near the lake. The day was super chill, there weren't that many people around and I'm looking forward to going back again

A gorgeous small lake about an hour from Munich. It's a relatively popular ski area during the…read morewinter and of course a walking and wandering area during the rest of the year. It was my first time here and I loved it. It takes about an hour to walk around the lake "rundweg" and there are loads of trails that come off the lake area going up into the mountains. The lake is located about 1100m about sea level so it's a little cooler up there. Best to go prepared. There are ski lifts you can take from the lakefront to a couple of the peaks and walk around or just walk up the mountain. There are a few places up the hills to stop and get lunch etc. Will definitely be back here again. We have explored much of the area nearby and this is just another addition to our repertoire.
