It was also a surprisingly manageable portion, which makes a nice change from a lot of the fast food around. The sign outside says "Best Chicken in Hamburg since 1966" and they might not be too far wrong. I really want to try the half-chicken and chips, as it's supposed to be one of the best in Hamburg, however when I went the other week they'd already sold out! Anyway I had schnitzel with hausgemacht pfeffer sauce and it was damn nice. I'll be back to try the chicken one of these days!

Sausages and Schaschlik (Shish-Kebab) bathe in a lot of frying oil. The curry sauce they use is really a glorified tomato sauce with very little curry flavour or anything else in it. Some people seem to be happy that they can taste of the tomatoes so clearly, but that's not the point of a ketchup or curry sauce. So ... be aware they don't really serve Currywurst here, but sausage in tomato sauce. If that's your thing, perfect, it isn't expensive either. I didn't find it tasteful or interesting.

Given, you have to like these things and they are not a dieter's delight. At the same time, they taste awesome. I never get anything else here. Just the currywurst and a roll with it. The place is tiny and this is what makes it such a cult place. It's been around forever and has that historic touch. I swear this makes the currywurst taste better. I never get anything else and this is my local Kebab place, always worth stopping in. Don't be surprised by the Neueröffnung (newly opened) sign on the door. The place has been here for a while.
