This last Friday we decided to go back to get two more bleeding hearts and two azaleas. Our issue is with the azaleas. The bigger azalea had the price tag. And I didn't realize that the smaller one didn't have one. The person that rang us up said they were in the same size pot, and scanned the one tag twice instead of going to check the price. We couldn't tell at the time, but after planting them today, you can clearly see by the pictures that one pot is definitely smaller. After talking about it, and remembering what plants we looked at that did have price tags, we think we were over charged by about $20.00. The price should have been either $16.99 or $19.99. We really love Tsugawa's plant quality, and will continue to buy our plants there. We just wanted to let folks know, make sure the plant you're going to buy has a price tag.

"Do not let the high rating or social media videos fool you. I paid $750 for a sloppy, rushed job…read morethat I had to supervise myself. Despite claiming years of experience, Daniel showed a complete lack of basic horticultural knowledge. I had to stay outside for 6 hours (9 AM - 3 PM) because he didn't seem to understand simple plant logic--like the proper '4 and 4' spacing (4 inches of soil and 4 inches of mulch) to prevent plant rot. Major Failures: * Logistical Oversight: The crew arrived without a wheelbarrow. After an initial disagreement, Daniel acknowledged it had been requested, but they were forced to improvise using a trash can and my personal buckets. This lack of proper equipment led to an inefficient process and unbalanced soil use. * The 'Extra Time' Dispute: I paid a premium for a 4-hour job, but it took 6 hours because I had to constantly correct the work. Daniel claimed the extra time was my fault for insisting on correct measurements, and he suggested I should be 'happy' he didn't charge me for those extra hours or a trip fee to get more soil. In reality, the soil shortage and the delays were caused by his own lack of preparation and proper tools. * Poor Execution: The results are unprofessional. As my photos show, the 4-inch edging is wavy and buckled with gaps, the plant spacing is lopsided, and the dirt circles are inconsistent. * Final Impression: Daniel left before a final walkthrough was finished. It is unacceptable to blame a customer for the time it takes to supervise a 'professional' who arrives under-equipped. I was prepared to give this business a glowing referral, but the lack of skill and preparation makes that impossible. Save your money and find a service that takes pride in their work." Thank you for your response. I'd like to clarify a few points so future customers have an accurate understanding of my experience. I selected your business based on the quality of work shown in your reviews and project examples, and I paid a premium rate expecting a similar level of professionalism. The scope of my project--planting small shrubs and grasses, applying mulch, and minor leveling--was straightforward compared to the larger installations you advertise. The job was discussed and priced as a 4-hour service, but it ultimately took approximately 6 hours with a three-person crew. My concern is not the additional time, but that even with the extended time, several agreed-upon elements were still not completed to a consistent or satisfactory standard. Throughout the process, I made an effort to be flexible. When additional items came up, I framed them as "if time allows," and I remained available because I was asked to be present for clarification. However, I found myself needing to repeatedly restate basic instructions--such as consistent plant spacing and proper soil and mulch depth--because those details were not being followed consistently. For that reason, I do not agree that the additional time was caused by my involvement. My presence was a direct result of needing to ensure the work met the agreed-upon expectations, not the cause of the delays. Prior to the job, I also communicated a change regarding the rubber mulch, as it could not be prepared for adhesive. I asked that it simply be leveled, similar to the river rock, which you agreed to. However, neither the mulch nor the rock leveling was completed, and I was ultimately told there was no time due to the job running over. There were also preventable inefficiencies. Arriving without requested equipment required improvising with my personal items, and the need for additional soil could likely have been avoided with better preparation and handling. Toward the end of the job, the work appeared rushed, and a proper final walkthrough was not completed before departure, despite my attempt to address remaining concerns. After the job, I reached out directly to express that while I appreciated the effort, I was disappointed in the overall finish and the rushed elements that were not completed as expected. The response I received focused primarily on the time spent exceeding four hours, rather than addressing the quality concerns raised. My review reflects these specific concerns: lack of preparation, inconsistent execution, and the need for ongoing supervision to meet basic expectations. I would have preferred a more professional response focused on addressing the concerns raised rather than assigning blame, as that is ultimately what future customers rely on when evaluating a business.
