This is the dentist office here in Auburn that I called to make a new patient appt. They were happy to do this for me, taking my name, phone number, until I mentioned I have the Obama care insurance. I was put on hold and they NEVER came back. After almost 5 minutes I called back and different person answered the phone. I explained why I was calling and when I mentioned my Obama care dental insurance (it's NOT free dental insurance btw) she said I would have to speak to the office manager and put me on hold. The office manager came on the line and told me they did not take Obama care. I assured her I would just pay cash at my visits since I'm needing a long term dentist and it was worth it to have healthy teeth. She would not allow me to be seen by their office she said because by law they have to submit it anyway to the Obama care insurance even though I was paying cash. (I'm working on confirmation of this today) I asked what if I hadn't told you I had Obama care dental insurance. She said..."Well we are not taking new patients this month." Of course had I been told this at the onset of this conversation with the first person who answered the phone that would have been the end of it. But since they waited until I told them what insurance I had to tell me this it was suspect. No invitation was offered to be called when they had an opening or asked to call back and check next month for an opening. To feel ostracized from a dental practice because of the apparent stigma that is attached to people who get Obama care, without them ever knowing who I am, my net worth, stocks I own...nothing. I was deeply offended by what felt like not being wanted because I seemed to have low financial worth. read more

I have been coming here for years and have been very satisfied. I previously was a patient with a dentist in Fort Wayne who at my last visit said I needed 4 cavities filled and at the time would cost me a minimum of $300. I felt that I needed a second opinion and at my first visit with Dr. Pickard at Scheumann Dental she said that this information was incorrect and there was nothing at that time that needed done. I have since had routine cleanings and even Invisalign through this office. It's nice to have found an honest dentist with pleasant people. It's very hard to find. read more

They let you decide with their input when and how to proceed. Their prices are fair and they provide options whenever possible. read more
