As you can see in the two photos of the Scheuerman Building. Little has changed over the last 128 years. It was important for the owners to maintain the originality of the building so after many renovations, the Scheuerman Building has come back to its original glory !
The building was commissioned right after the fire of 1889 by Mr. Chris Sherman and designed by architect Elmer Fisher. "Queen Anne Richardsonian Romanesque" detailing is quite evident throughout the three story building located in the Historic Pioneer District.
Tax records reviled that in 1890's the two lower storefront were occupied by Hersberg & Company" selling clothes and druggist "Hasbrook". The two upper floors were designed as office space. Today you can find "Cherry Street Coffee House" in one of the lower level storefront business. The upper floors remain up-scaled offices.
I would like to give thanks to the City of Seattle for their efforts in preservation of Historic Pioneer District for future generations!
