He came out of the mediation room walk right pass me only to come back twenty minutes later to say, He said he don't have no money. My husband deserted me but rouse pitch to the judge like it was a amicable separation. My husband left me almost in foreclosure, had the phone turned off abandoned everything possible as a husband. He (Rouse) knew I was upset he continued to say you don't know it but you won. I continued to tell him I didn't and that I wasn't satisfied because you didn't use any of the evidence. Three weeks went by I talked to another lawyer and when I stated my lawyer met with my ex-husband privately. She said what??? She then stated you know you can appeal. All the other firms said they would be able to win our case, but after listening to them we understood that they really didn't understand my husbands industry and what he was being charged with. A couple of firms would not even meet with us in person unless we agreed to retain them and pay a fee or they wanted to meet us at a bar. We were able to meet with Mr. Smith in person before retaining him and Mr. Jacobs and he spent over an hour listening to our concerns, explained the processes, and hurdles we would possibly face. At the end of the meeting Mr. Smith explained that they would take care of our case so we can go back and live our normal lives again. Overall we felt very well taken cared of, all of our questions were answered no matter how small, and even though it did take a long processes due to COVID closing the courts in the end Mr. Jacobs was able to have our case dismissed. All I heard for two years from this group of lawyers was "not yet, still waiting", etc. After the date that the statue of limitations for the case had passed, I called Scott to verify that the state had failed to prosecute within the time frame allotted. It's a good thing I called, because apparently the case has been brought before the court and prosecution had been set in motion months prior to this and Scott and his team had no idea. After that surprise, this team of lawyers fumbled around and finally presented me with plea deal that they said was the best they could do if I wanted them to handle the case while I was in absentia. The only other option would be to fly back to Georgia from California to await trial. I reluctantly accepted the plea bargain which included Community Service, attending a class, and paying a fine. I submitted all proof of completion of my part of the bargain. Scott and his team took it to court and had it signed and sealed, and told me that the case was resolved. Fast forward to a few months after that. I get a call from Scott's office telling me they "made a mistake" when they told me the case was resolved. They messed up the paperwork and failed to include in the plea deal they presented me with that the court had requested I take another class. There was a probation officer waiting on paperwork as proof for completion of a class I was never informed I had to take, months after I was told the case was resolved and over with. I tried my best to find a class and complete it in what time remained before the probation officer put a bench warrant out for my arrest, but there simply was not enough time. If you want someone competent enough to handle your criminal case, do NOT choose Scott W Smith, "Peach State Lawyer". Not only is he kind of a dick to his clients, he is wildly irresponsible and forgetful and is just (barely, if at all) going through the motions for your money.

I had the misfortune of Rachel representing me for a child abandonment case in Fulton Co. She is so…read morerude and unprofessional on every level. She requested I call her and when I did she talked over and refused to allow me to answer the question she'd asked me. I asked that she stop interrupting me several times before she HUNG UP ON ME. She then told the judge, I was difficult to talk to and that I wanted to represent myself. My case was dismissed due to lack and poor legal representation. And to add insult to injury accordingly to the Dekalb Lawyers Association, she has a niche in Father's Rights which in my opinion is a complete conflict of interest and explains why she was so hostile to me for no apparent reason. This wasn't my first encounter with her, I took the same action back In 2018. She was rude then and told the Non custodial parents they could pay $1, the bare minimum and that would suffice. I was shocked and outraged that she'd state this in open court when she was representing Custodial parents fighting for financial support for their children. I'm not sure if she took her meds during both of my unpleasant experiences with her but she definitely has some mental health issues that she should definitely seek help for. Read her responses to other people's reviews. Not the response of a professional. Perhaps since she doesn't have children of her own, it makes her insensitive and Unempathetic to these kinds of matters. If you have a complaint against her or witnessed her unethical behavior, I'd implore you to make a formal complaint with State Bar of GA, The Consumer Assistance Program, GA DEPARTMENT OF LAW'S CONSUMER PROTECTION, and OFFICE OF THE NSW LEGAL SERVICES COMMISSIONER OF GA to avoid anyone else from having this kind of encounter with her. Her behavior and demeanor is rude, arrogant, and egregious.
