I was happy with Scarsdale Medical while I had Dr. Bradley Adler as my GP, who always seemed to see me as a person and asked all the right questions knowing my history. Since he left the practice it all feels very assembly line with no particular care for individual patients. I suspect Dr. Adler left as he couldn't stomach their new treatment model and he's too conscientious a doctor to brook it. Lately I've felt it's just going through the motions, then NEXT! That's not what I expect of a doctor, so I'm moving elsewhere. I am sorry about that though, as I've been going there for decades. But there's been a big change, much for the worse. You might get a reasonable check up but I want a DOCTOR myself. Don't you? read more

I was just reading the other reviews and felt I had to share a few of my experiences. I have been incredibly impressed with the doctors at the Scarsdale Medical Group and have been very fortunate to have Dr. Paul Pechman as my primary internist for the last twenty years! Dr. Pechman really cares about his patients and I'm certain it isn't just the way he focuses in on me. I've heard people say that the Scarsdale Medical Group is too big but if you need a Doctor on a weekend, they have hours on Saturday and Sunday's! I was a little concerned about going in for my yearly checkup as a result of the Coronavirus but I found the experience to be very reassuring. When I arrived in the lobby a nurse took my temperature and checked to make sure I had the proper mask. Upstairs, many of the seats in the reception area are taped off so you can't sit near another person. The staff we're very considerate and I was in the examination room witching five minutes of my arrival. Dr. Pechman was caring and treated me like an old friend. Over the years I've had my share of unexpected emergencies and I've been examined by many of the doctors in their practice and I felt each person had wonderful qualities that made me feel that regardless of the doctor, I was getting great medical attention. read more

I write this with a heavy heart. After trying to conceive and then taking a break to deal with some family problems that arose, my husband and I were finally blessed with a baby girl. One of hubby's coworkers told us that SMG had a great pediatrician office, and suggested that we take our little girl to see her daughters' doctor. Unfortunately, that doctor was not taking on new patients but we were assured that all the other physicians were really good and they often saw each other's patients if needed. I made an appointment for the first Monday to see Dr. Geronemus, after being discharged from the hospital with my new baby. It was unusually chilly the day we went for the appointment and I probably could have dressed her a bit warmer for the trip. The office was cold as well, since for whatever reason they had the air conditioning on full blast, likely because the days before were very hot and humid. Hubby and I were freezing in the exam room because of the cold air flowing in from the vent; even Dr. Geronemus commented on how cold it was in the office. On top of the cold air, they kept our baby undressed for a long period of time while taking her measurements, temperature and weight. When they finally checked her temperature, they mentioned it was low by a tenth of a degree and although there was no real concern, they insisted on checking it again to make sure it was just an anomaly. When they checked it again, we were told it dropped almost a full degree. I found that kind of odd. The nurse was having issues with the thermometer malfunctioning and they didn't have a spare, the doctor was questioning the nurse's ability to take the temperature correctly and we were reminding them that it was cold outside, cold inside the office and the baby had been undressed for almost an hour. They decided to bundle the baby up and check again in ten minutes but the problem with that was that they came back after only a few minutes to check her temp so of course, there was not significant difference in the temperatures taken. We asked them to check it once more because they really didn't give it enough to improve at all and when they re-checked, the temperature remained the same. The doctor then insisted we take our baby to the nearest hospital's ER as a precautionary measure to make sure she was OK and did not have an infection. Long story short, when we get to the ER at Westchester Medical Center, they checked the baby's temperature which read the SAME as in the doctor's office so, of course, we were nervous but then the nurse tells us that the temperature was withing range. We asked why the doctor would have told us to come to the ER if the temperature was fine and they had no clue. In addition to sending us to the ER, the doctor also reported that the baby was hypothermic which prompted them to follow an infection protocol, including an unnecessary spinal tap, unnecessary antibiotics that have grave side affects as well as numerous testing that was also ultimately deemed unnecessary because as we tried to tell everyone from the pediatrician office to the hospital, our baby was completely fine. We should have known not to listen to the pediatrician because she also seemed very unsure of herself. She really could not give us definitive answers on anything and in hindsight, we should have just run the other way. After four days in the NICU and multiple IVs placed, we've received many bills due for treatment that should never have been given in the first place. Even the doctors at the hospital told us that while they did not feel our baby was sick, they had no choice but to follow through with their protocol based on what Dr. Geronemus wrote in her report. A nurse from the hospital at which I had my daughter, happened to call and follow up with me that week and after I told her what transpired even she said that the doctor was out of line to have jumped the gun without taking in all the other factors. I'm unsure how the other pediatricians in that office operate but we made sure to find other means of medical treatment for our daughter. I will never go back to Scarsdale Pediatrics, nor will I ever refer them to another family. If you feel like giving them a shot, that's fine, just make sure that you get a second opinion if the physician seems unsure of her staff's knowledge, the accuracy of the equipment and even her own knowledge. read more

I had an appointment for a neurologist Dr. Sadler today because I'm having very bad memory problems, I can't remember who I am sometimes. This place did not call to confirm or remind me, if you have memory patients YOU NEED TO CALL AND REMIND. They say they are supposed to day before and same day, I have zero calls to me. It takes 3 months to get these appointments, now I have to wait 2 months to get looked at. read more

Dr. Geronemus is awesome, hands down. I would trust her with any child. She is friendly, highly competent, very well-informed and trustworthy. Whenever I ask a question she has a comprehensive and detailed response. She asks thoughtful questions as well and we engage in discussions related to various aspects of childcare. I have learned a great deal from her. To shed light on Amanda G's misleading review, according to Emily Oster: "If your otherwise well-seeming six-month-old gets a fever -- even a pretty high one -- and you go to the doctor, they'll probably look them over, tell you they have a cold or a virus, and send you home with instructions to give them Tylenol and fluids. In fact, many doctors' offices will tell you not to bring the child in at all unless you are very concerned. In contrast, if your two-week-old has even a low fever, you'll need to take them to the hospital, where they'll be subjected to lab tests -- likely including a lumbar puncture (spinal tap) -- given antibiotics, and admitted as an inpatient. With very young babies, doctors have a harder time distinguishing between high- and low-risk fevers. Babies in this group are somewhat more susceptible to bacterial infections, including meningitis, which is extremely serious. Somewhere between 3% and 20% of infants under a month old who come to the doctor with a fever have a bacterial infection. These are mostly urinary tract infections, but they must be treated, and reasonably quickly." read more

Their automated phone system does not work and has not worked for the most part for the 7 years I have had a doctor at the group. There is no way to inform them of this. Doctors don't handle these automated system problems. read more

This group is an excellent microcosm of the current state of medical care. The medical professionals are largely very good. Unfortunately they are hidden behind a massive group of incompetent administrative staff. What used to be an excellent group (been going here since the 1970's) has turned into just another office run by people who don't know anything about medicine. read more

They didn't tell me my blood test would go through Montefiore rather than Quest and was stuck with a $600 bill rather than $40. Used the call back service and when I got called back, was hung up on. Put on hold for five minutes. read more

I was charged $511.81 for an OBG follow-up visit. Since this was a five minutes doctor visit, I called their financial office to ask why it was so expensive. They told me to contact the doctor. But the doctor never replied to my phone call, so I left a voice message and expected a call back. I also called their manager and left a message. So far no one called me back to explain how they ended up with the amount of $511.81. I have made no less than 30 calls regarding this issue. I just want to know their normal rate for a follow-up doctor visit. I hope someone in the hospital will read my message and communicate with them regarding their normal marked price so I can pay the bill right away. read more

My 1st time at this facility. The receptionists are beyond rude. The first thing she says instead of greeting me is "we don't take your insurance" which caused me anxiety and was NOT true. I did like my doctor but his nurse also just rude. Your support staff needs to be trained on customer relations at bare minimum. Terrible!!!! read more

absolutely terrible they want you to go to their place on heathcote to take blood tests for covid and the flu even though you have proof of negative tests from a different lab just to see your primary doctor.ITS ALL ABOUT $$$$ and nothing about the patients anymore .I am changing groups for me and my family immediately!!! read more

long time patient, since they were actually in Scarsdale offering excellent service. now the practice is large and impersonal, especially non-medical staff who often border on rude -- special shout out to receptionists at front desk on 2nd and 3rd floor in particular, often difficult. there's no accountability, no one to call for issues or help. couple of days ago got a call asking me about payment for a bill i had NOT even received! the excuse they're changing systems -- well that's the excuse they've been using for years. billing dept is problematic (if you can get the number, or someone to answer). i've had a couple of drs who flat out didn't care -- patel nephrology leiser internal medicine (worst experience ever) and some excellent -- finkelstein internal medicine yuen (hard to see though) geronemus pediatrics. read more

Let me start off with the good points. Dr. Claudia Felberg is a fine physician, she is smart and attentive (as much as is possibly allowed by her overwhelming number of patients) Her previous assistant Ebette was friendly and competent (again as permitted by the number of patients), Sydney the new assistant is lacking experience and may be overwhelmed as she missed making an appointment for an important test I required. My care needs are complex and I think with the "Mill" style of care at Scarsdale it may not be suitable to providing my medical care. In the past I've been missed diagnosed by doctors Freda Chu (Infectious Disease), Catherine Issac (Internal Medicine) and Jennifer Goldwasser (Dermatology.) Kudos to Dr. Elizabeth Reinitz who fixed what Dr. Chu missed and Dr. Felberg diagnosed properly what Issac and Goldwasser mis-diagnosed. I called and spoke with the C.O.O. of SMG she listened and seemed interested, she never got back to me. Essentially this group is a business and is run that way, with the emphasis on profit not patients. The doctors see too many patients and don't have time for personalized care. Unfortunately this is a trend in medicine today based on regulations and the insurance industry which is despicable. Some practitioners are forced into groups if they hope to earn a living and then patient care suffers. I'll be looking for a more suitable physician moving forward. read more

Terrible service, call center is inept. I waited 1 1/2 hours for an appointment, got a chest x-ray and now waiting for results 2 hours later. If I have pneumonia, everyone around me is suseptible. Guess those doctors don't care. read more

I am very dissatisfied with Scarsdale Medical Group never able get appointment they sound like machines. especially dr Yuen who was my family doctor who miss diagnosed my husband which I told her keep eye on him she claims be cardiologist but I m the one told her do stress on my husband who has heart condition . Very frustrated with the fact that test result was not given at the same pace or rate as their counterparts. I went in after my husband was diagnosed with the flu. I have similar symptoms so figured it would be best to confirm my diagnosis as I do not want to expose other family members. I was told that I may find out in an hour or more. Its been at least 5 hours and nothing. My husband went to a different location and knew within 15 minutes. What the hell is going on!!! Completely dissatisfied!!! read more

I've been so disappointed in this practice for a few years. There is no personal touch. No one seems to care. They seem to be misplaced in the customer care department. Now they are controlled by Montefiore which had made it worse. No ones records were transferred to your portal so it's like you never existed. They're response is very cold and with no solution. Doctors don't return your phone calls. I'm moving on. This is not my idea of positive heath care. read more

One of the options when calling is to make a flu shot appointment. After holding almost 15 minutes, an operator finally picked up the phone. I was then informed that flu shots are not available at this time. I am totally disgusted with Scarsdale Medical Group. I have already left the practice for a new primary care doctor and endocrinologist. I go there only for Dr Belzer (dermatologist) and Dr. Marks (podiatrist). read more

Had a "medical manicure." Beware. Had perfect toe nails, but they were cut so short with a huge clipper, very rough manicurist, and now I have an ingrown toenail and constant pain even after one of the podiatrists "trimmed down" into the side of the nail bed. STAY AWAY! If you have a "medical manicure" here, you will need medical attention. read more

Very disappointed! I searched for a foot dr for my 89 year old mom, I called the Eastchester office and they did not accept my moms insurance ( which is Medicare / blue cross blue shield) the receptionist had informed me that the Eastchester office did not accept the insurance but Dr Marks at Scarsdale medical group did, and so I called there and made an appointment, they asked what insurance my mom had in advanced and also called her to get her insurance number. Did they not know at that time that the office did not accept this insurance ? My mom and I arrived at the Drs office , my mom has a walker and doesn't get around that easy, we check in with the front desk and filled out numerous papers, after again giving my moms insurance information the receptionist informs me that they do not accept my moms insurance and if we wanted we could pay out of pocket ! Very incompetent staff sorry to say someone doesn't know what they are doing in this office. read more

This is little more than a medical factory with perhaps the worst practice management practices that I as a Doctor find to be not only extraordinarily poor. Inept but perhaps downright dangerous.. Unqualified and uncaring administrative and management personnel . This is all about profits since the resumes of their operational personnel are so thin as to be laughable. Good doctors don't stay...their ID specialist, Dr. Goldberg.... just left for Columbia Healthcare. Any physician who cares about best practices and about patient satisfaction won't likely stay with this "house of horrors" read more
