Seduction & seclusion is Scarlett's take on dinner etiquette satisfaction.
Minor factors ruled over any alarm bells warning. Australian, The Rocks, Hotel all were "take a chance" elements I try, once in a while. With a name like Scarlett and a quick glimpse at the website I was going to be pleased.
Walked many times past this what seems like a little place is in fact an extensive intricate labyrinth pattern underground building from the 19th century. The stone walls but contemporary doer reflect this strongly back. There is history here. The staff seem to be quite verist in this to add to any culinary experience you wish to have.
A signature Scarlett cocktail is what I like to start with especially since I came early before the essential online booking. The attached Eric's Bar was somewhat pleasant and the had cocktail was its equal. Sipping on a beetroot cocktail clearly had a impressionable Scarlett colour about it, I found my way to the private terrence after the group arrived and quickly ordered our meal. It was quite windy but the small on look veranda to everyone passing was again another pleasant addition to sipping cocktails hidden amongst the added green foliage against the stone walls. An order of a european pinot noir was by no means a hard choice to keep us warm. A recommendation from our lovely staff by the table was the first of many. But we were called as our entree was ready.
What looked like a fancy beef wellington, was the standing winning flavours of a Lamb croustillant, smoked eggplant & sheep's milk yoghurt. Everything was right with this plate but nothing spectacular. It worked and thats all. The main followed suit for a Pan fried barramundi, smoked mash, confit of fennel & crushed dates. What seemed like a winning eye popping main was only reflected by the perfectly cooked barramundi. The rest just fell underneath the taste to it. Too little, too weak the added sides were. That's all again. Another bottle of wine from the west of Europe.
Compelled to try the dessert, again I ordered a favourite, pavlov Mango and Passionfruit Mess. What seemed beautiful on the plate again fell. It was chewy... undercooked. The missing melt in your mouth experience. Oh well.
What really shone about to this place is again the staff were attentive. Seeing clearly the four of us enjoyed our wines more, a recommended cheese platter was extended to us. I like this! An accidental test on my behave lead to more attentiveness. I really like this!
With the first to arrive and last to leave, I wasn't too happy with the meal. This place is beautifully elegant. A perfect first date experience which I'd recommend always. read more
