We have been using Jack from Scarlet Oaks Tree Care for almost 10 years now. We first started we had some down trees at our home and Jack cam out and supplied us with a very competetive bid. They came out when they were scheduled to do the work and wew were very pleased. After that we used him for a commercial property that had some dead aspens up against some power lines. We now use him for annual maintenance and pruning on both properties. I can always count on Jacks competetive pricing, Great service and making sure the property is clean when they are done. Jack was very communicative and made it clear that he wanted to complete the tree removal for us in a safe manner. We got rescheduled for one week later (today) and Jack personally came over with a lift. For that reason, I am updating my review with an additional star for customer service in trying to make things right. After a few attempts at getting the lift in place, the crew did not feel comfortable with the configuration of the lift with the tree and the tight space in the alley. We 100% support their commitment to safety and applaud that their employees do not feel pressured to take unreasonable risks. Their focus on safety is one of the main reasons why we chose them over the rest. Our frustration is simply that the hazard assessment was not adequate at the initial time of quote. Again, we are glad the crew on Day 1 did not go ahead with unsafe work just to get it done. However, there was no additional assessment to ensure that the lift would actually solve the issue the following week. Essentially, we lost 2 weeks during the process when they could have just said the project was not doable for them.  Hindsight is 20/20, so I don't want this to be viewed as an entirely negative review. Bottom line is that they are definitely strong on safety (5 stars) but they should take a look at how they are quoting and selling work. This was likely a rare occurrence as every other part of the process was handled very well by the staff. Would we try using them again? Actually, yes! I'm sure they do excellent work. We just didn't get to experience it due to the circumstances. read more

I needed them to do the trimming while I was at work, and I was a bit nervous that I would come back home and it wouldn't be done, or it would be done poorly, or there would be a huge mess... but our tree looked great and they cleaned up without a trace! The owner, Jack, was responsive and really easy to work with. He scheduled a date to take a look at the tree and had an estimate back to me within hours. We received estimates from 3 different tree services and ended up hiring Scarlett Oaks Tree Care. We were impressed with their knowledge and expertise, as well as advice regarding our options. We ended up having them trim two trees. (A pine tree and locust tree.) Their estimate came in the lowest of the 3 companies. We don't always hire the lowest price, but in this case, they impressed us the most, so that was just a bonus in our decision! After trying two places that never called back to make appointments, and a third tree service that came out and then failed to give us an estimate (even after we followed up twice), this service was AMAZING. Jack came the day we talked to give an estimate and worked us into the schedule that next weekend. His crew arrived on time, worked quickly, and brought down a large tree expertly, guiding it down between house and deck, a bush, and play structure without damaging anything.
