From the moment we contacted them, the team at Crotty was professional, compassionate, and incredibly responsive. They treated us with genuine care and made sure every step was handled thoughtfully. They were attentive to our needs and also provided services specifically designed to support parents with younger children, which meant so much to our family. Every person we interacted with carried themselves with grace and professionalism. They were organized, patient, and kind -- traits that are so important during such a vulnerable time. I truly felt like they cared about us and about honoring my daughter with dignity and respect. I can't express enough how grateful I am to Crotty Funeral Home. They brought some peace to a situation that felt impossible. I only wish we had gone to them from the very beginning.

Well they take forever to call, and often to do not bother to call at the prearranged time. After a week of my friend being stuck at the coroners morgue, this funeral home had not contacted me further at all, despite my messaging them through their contact email form on their website and by leaving numerous messages with the answering service. So I gave up on them and finally read the SO BAD yelp reviews for Affordable Burial and Cremation company, and chose another business to go with which showed a five star rating. Well, I contacted that other business after hours on a Tuesday around 520 pm. Left a message with a real person. Within a half hour I got a call from the owner of that business. By Thursday later afternoon everything was squared away with all needed forms signed, and by the next day my friends body was moved from the morgue to the funeral home. And everything after that went very smoothly. So bottom line DO NOT DEAL WITH AFFORDABLE BURIAL AND CREMATION EVER. They do not respect their customers, so I doubt if they respect the dead.

It just felt creepy and disturbing. The door was locked and we had to wait in the smoke for someone to come to the door. Once we went in, the place was pretty tacky and smelled bad. We sat down and were asked if we could come back later, because their new driver accidentally took my mom's ashes to their other location. About an hour later, I called to see if they were back and she said it would be another 45 minutes. They gave us a free urn for our inconvenience. The job got done and it was affordable. If you need anything more than that, you might want to go somewhere else.

When our…read morebeautiful13-year-old daughter passed from Ewing Sarcoma at MDA in Houston, we were initially transferred to another facility for cremation -- a rushed process that left us uneasy because the facility was so cold and nothing like what we expected for our sweet girl. Late that evening, while searching for a place that would truly honor her, we found Cremation.Green. We called close to 9 p.m., and Laci answered with such compassion and understanding. She immediately helped us make arrangements, and by the next morning, they sent a vehicle and our daughter was lovingly brought to their farm. The experience was beyond what we could have hoped for. We were able to watch the entire cremation and send her off ourselves -- something that brought immense peace and closure. The facility was modern, serene, and absolutely beautiful, with a viewing room designed in the warmest, most comforting way imaginable. When we walked out with her ashes, the wind was softly blowing, and the trees and windmill seemed to wave us on. In that moment, we felt a deep sense of calm and gratitude. We are forever thankful to Cremation.Green for creating such a sacred, dignified, and loving space for our little birdie's farewell.

I made the decision to make this review more about the process than my experience; to help someone doing research like I was at the time, since it can be overwhelming. That being said these prices are from the end of 2022 and if you have a specific question about my experience you can always send me a message. I dealt with multiple people here and overall this is a wonderful service. I called while my father was in hospice to be prepared and get instructions, they were very kind to me and very helpful. While I was calling the Bryan office, it was my experience through this process that the phone systems between the Bryan and Austin locations are combined in some way and their answering service is as well. Their website is very helpful if you need to get information in advance. Since my father was in hospice, all we had to do was provide the phone number for ABCS to hospice and they called once my father was pronounced. They will send someone out to retrieve your loved ones body. They do prioritize removals from the home over the hospital, so if there are multiple calls in a night, they may use a third party to dispatch to your home to handle this in a timely manner (more on that later) but they do have their own staff that they utilize first. They will then email the next of kin several forms to be filled out in the next several days and transport the body to Austin. These forms include a cremation authorization, an authorization to embalm and a death certificate order form. On the cremation authorization you can order urns and engraving as well, but I believe you need to look at their catalog online and specify on the form. I did call several times for help during this process and they were very helpful. There will be a later email about the vital statistics and the accuracy of this form being signed off is necessary before the death certificates can be issued. The death certificates need to be paid for in advance and typically take 10-14 days to arrive in the mail. This is due to the current cost in the state but I believe the first one is $20-25 with additional copies being $4. They had a bundle cost for 10 and 15 and I believe we got 10 for around $55. If the 10-14 days won't work, the form had an option for expediting for an additional $30 and I believe this was an overnight service after processing instead of regular mail. The timeframe for remains depends upon how quickly you provide the cremation packet, the doctors, how long of a wait there is ahead of your loved ones cremation and the type of urn you order. At the end of September I was told it could take up to 4 to 6 weeks total, but it was sooner than that. A few years ago my parents used this process for my grandfather and I think it took 2-3 weeks. You will set up an appointment to go to Austin to pick up the remains and pay at that time. Although I believe arrangements can be made to have the remains shipped to you, I'm not sure of those details as my mother did not trust USPS with tracking for such an important task. The cost of cremation was $775 plus any expediting you choose and the type of urn you choose and if you arrange service through them. I did not look into their packages for arranging a funeral service. They will also post a photo and obituary on their website if you email it to them, at no additional cost. There were three mishaps throughout this process, which was about a month long. The first was the third party who picked up my father was inappropriate with my mother and sister. I spoke to ABCS about this who forwarded me to the owner, Robert, who took it very seriously and handled the situation. As I stated above, they only use a third party when time is a factor and they are already on a call. The second was an unnecessary delay for the death certificates. Anthony handled this situation and accommodated me by sending me a scan to handle my fathers affairs as I had travelled across the state to do so, and the physical copy wouldn't be available until several days later. The delay shouldn't have occurred, but they held themselves accountable and were accommodating, so I wasn't very concerned about this. The third was a much bigger deal, but I do acknowledge they did what they could to make it right and I do appreciate it. Long story short, there was a miscommunication and his ashes had not arrived in time for the appointment to pick up. However, they did agree to meet my mother and sister outside of business hours and offered a partial refund to rectify the situation. Again, I'm leaving out a lot of details because of limited space, but the important thing is that they did resolve it and if the person I had been dealing with on the issue had been available I don't think I would have been given the wrong information in the first place.

My mother's health had been failing for over a year and she went into hospice on Monday and fell into a coma Thursday. She wasn't expected to make it through the weekend. I had flown in from out of state and my Aunt had come up from Houston. We went to see the funeral director Friday to finalize arrangements and set things in motion as much as possible. Getting information from him was exhausting. Perhaps I should've brought in a CIA interrogator? When I asked if we could have the funeral on Monday, he informed me he "doesn't work on Sunday". He also said he would need two days to prepare the body. We said we wanted a closed casket. He did assure us that if she passed on Sunday, someone would pick up her body so it wasn't just sitting at the nursing home. We went to a florist afterwards (recommended by a family friend, not the one he recommended) and they were amazing. My mother passed away Friday night, so we returned to the funeral home by appointment on Saturday. At this meeting David brought out a paper that had been filled out by my mother with much of the information on it we were discussing Friday. Information like; which flowers, what scripture, etc. You know, information that would have been helpful Friday when we were DISCUSSING those things. Particularly, flowers since we had picked them out Friday, which he knew we were doing! We had the visitation on Monday 5-7. He did not stay for the visitation, because he works 8-5. His assistant stayed in the office until we left at 7. She, by the way, is amazing. On Tuesday, with just over 2 hours till the funeral, he texts me that my mom looks very nice and the casket is currently open, however if I want it closed they can do that as well. Since I had told him Friday and Saturday that we wanted a closed casket, we were eating, and he had really pissed me off at this point, I didn't reply to his text. We were going to be arriving a half hour before the funeral which would give plenty of time for them to close the casket. When we arrived and my Aunt asked him to please close the casket, he SCOLDED us for not replying to his text. Changing from an open casket to a closed involved him moving the flowers over, closing the lid, and repositioning the flowers. You don't get to scold the grieving family like that! NOT acceptable. To top everything off, he signed the guestbook at the very top! He didn't ask first. He didn't sign at the bottom after all family and friends. He signed at the top!! He seems to have zero EQ and zero customer service skills. Since he is in a service industry that requires compassion, those are pretty big deficiencies to have. I believe my Aunt was very accurate when she said he is like that person getting ready to retire and has already mentally checked out. As I mentioned earlier, his assistant Rebecca is amazing. She knew that my mother loved butterflies. She took the initiative to add a row of butterflies to the funeral program - they were beautiful! That little added touch meant SO much to everyone at the service. She should be the front person for the funeral home instead of the insensitive jerk that we dealt with. It is unfortunate that the reputation built up over a century is being decimated by the current director.
