I hate giving reviews like this. But after exhausting every possibility of a resolution, I have no choice but to caution others before doing business with this company. Adrian, the owner, was very responsive (at first), and had agreed to do a $1500 scanning job for me in Aug 2019 that would take 8 weeks or so. I gave him a $500 deposit by credit card.
Time went by, but it became clear that the job was more than Adrian thought it was, and he had underbid it. To his credit, he said he would still finish it for the same price, though it would take longer. So well past the 8 weeks and into the holidays, there was still no end in sight. By January, I was ready to call it quits. In mid February, I had Adrian return by original documents to me without any scanning having been completed (as in, none whatsoever - not sure what he was doing all those months). Two of the 20 boxes were a mess with papers everywhere, so it looked like someone had done something, but certainly not 7 months worth of effort.
Regardless, Adrian said he would have his bookkeeper send me the $500 deposit back in the form of a check the following week. Weeks went by. No check. I texted to ask about it, and Adrian said his bookkeeper was out, but it would for sure go out this time. Same deal. Weeks later, I asked him again, and he said he would write the check personally this time. Two weeks later, it was mid-March and the country was shutting down for COVID-19, so his excuse that time was that he had to close his business. I waited until he said he got a business loan and said he would come by with cash in person. I waited all day at my office, but he was a no-show. I texted to ask what happened and he said he didn't make it. He asked if he could come by the next day instead, but at this point I felt like he was just playing me, politely. I told him I was done waiting and I would be taking legal action next. I should note that I have never been anything but professional and polite in my text messages to this merchant.
As of the writing of this review, I am now preparing the small claims court paperwork. Shame he would rather lose a slam dunk case in court, than to do the right thing.
He seems like an okay guy who meant well, but who keep his word and just strings you along once it becomes clear that he is in over his head. If I had known that my scan job was being neglected for 6+ months, I would have been happy to call it quits a whole lot sooner.
Pity that it had to go this way. Pretty soon, it will be a year since I first reached out to him. Buyer beware, especially when it comes to giving a credit card deposit over the phone before you have seen any actual work done. read more
