Um. I don't know how to say this, but this station is no longer my favorite. The spacious parking lot has disappeared. (condos ) Damn.

These new cars look much like the same cars as are used on the Blue Line that runs from 485 to UNCC. The streetcars are clean and modern, with wide windows that make the ride feel open and connected to the city around you. It's convenient, especially if you're heading to Uptown or the hospitals along Elizabeth Avenue. The wait times between cars are usually reasonable but there's a small catch: there aren't any digital signs or audible announcements at the stops to tell you when the next streetcar is coming. I've found that Google Maps is helpful since it tracks the vehicles in real time and helps you estimate when to be at the platform. Once on board, it's a smooth, quiet ride that feels more like gliding than commuting. [Review 1436 of 2025 - 4507 in North Carolina - 24987 overall]

The drivers are friendly and the colors are probably the most adventurous and memorable of any of the trams I've seen in North America and there are quite a few. I didn't even know that Charlotte had one until I saw it chugging along one day while I was getting food. I made it a point to ride on the thing, and I have finally made that dream a reality. It's not San Francisco, but then Charlotte doesn't have all those hills (or pills) so just the existence of the tram is a huge reason for happiness.

The platform is elevated so be prepared for stairs. There is an elevator as well. Once you get to the platform its pretty easy to tell which train in inbound toward Uptown since you have a decent view of the skyline in the distance (as well as the normal markings in the station. The station is also a bus stop that has a specific "buses only" section, but it's not guarded by arms or any traffic control, I've seen plenty of cars "looking a bit lost" in the bus area. I'm sure it happens all the time, but the frequency is probably nothing that warrants traffic control barriers. Overall, this is a great option to get to Uptown without having to worry about parking decks or parking fees. I've used the station a lot to to Uptown and also to the Northern NODA areas (Sugar Creek Station). Suggestion: download the CATS app to purchase fare tickets easily. There are ticket kiosks (2) at this location, but they are not always operational and they take forever - especially if the train is coming and you need to get on right away.

Surprisingly easy to understand audible announcement of next northbound and southbound trains. I did not see a message board for hearing impaired folks. Large parking lots are accessible from Old Pineville and from South Boulevards. Not much nearby. Taco Bell 200 yards and shopping plaza with Ross and Petsmart. They seem well lit at night, but they are quite desolate with very few people nearby.

I've been a long time patron of Amtrak going back to the early 90's…read more I was living in Raleigh at the time and would commute to Charlotte regularly. I lived in DC for 15 years and had access to Amtrak on the Washington Metro Rail and Virginia Railway Express was so easy. Sometimes I would take the VRE to Washington Union Station and from there you can go anywhere in the US that has Amtrak service. My preference was the Acela high speed train to NY or to Boston. A next level experience and a hint of what high speed rail might be one day in the US. All this to say, I was back at the CLT Amtrak station to p/u James who took the train from Raleigh. There are now 8 (eight) trains to/from CLT & RDU. It was 'close' to on-time as well. Only about 10 minutes late which is not bad considering multiple stops. The CLT Transport authority is working on the new Uptown Station which remains under construction. It will connect with the Lynx line as well as the Trolley. CLT has waited a long time for this vision to become reality. I took some photos which are posted on the Yelp site and you can see, it's spartan. It's not changed much in 25 years. The biggest changes is the new Starbucks that's across the street.

I understand that they are building a new one, so of course I wouldn't expect them to go out of their way to keep this one up to date. It honestly isn't even that bad! The train was literally right on time for us. We got on right before departure time and the staff have been pretty friendly. Since we are traveling as a family, it's nice that there are areas where we can sit in a four seater spot so I'm together with my brother and mom. Looking forward to getting to Greensboro safely!

Lots of construction here of condos and apartments and townhouses, but very few commercial businesses. There isn't a coffee shop or a restaurant very near to the station. Extending the Blue Line all the way to UNCC might have seemed excessive, but the success of the first segment really warrants the growing city's demand for public transportation. This station has some new neighbors! Most notably Optimist Hall. The way the track curves (you do go past it) but its a smart 1-2 minute walk. With the ongoing construction, it's probably not the most glamorous walk to get there, but the new apartments and other improvements will surely make the area a bustling hub of activity. Just like the other Lynx stations, the themes were designed by local artists. Plenty of bike rack locations (to encourage multi-modal forms of getting around). With everyone moving to Charlotte, it's actually really refreshing to not have to get in a car to get somewhere.
