The one thing you have to try is the ostrich burger with cheese and onion - yummy!!! This is sold on the stall which is situated right outside the centre by the entrance. The stall also sells fresh ostrich burgers+frozen to put in your freezer, ostrich eggs, dusters, meat, sausages. Indoor stalls include a great mushroom bonanza (loads of different mushroom on sale), breads, cakes, meat, sausages, a variety of vegetables, honeys, wax products, leather products such as belts, purses , chocolates, soaps Outside there is normally a van that sells a variety of fish, pancake stall - yummy pancakes freshly made in front of you, bird tables, plants, meat As you can see - there is a variety of products on sale - plenty to choose from. Great atmosphere and even better location - Bakewell is a beautiful and busy place with loads to offer.

Moseley farmers market is an award winning market held in the central square of Moseley. I had been…read moremeaning to get down for months before I finally managed it this Saturday... And I wasn't disappointed. The market is exactly what you would want a medium to large sized market to be. Offering a huge range of locally sourced goods sold to you by the actual producers of the items, you can get most things you would need to stock up the fridge, freezer and cupboards (with a good amount of locally made crafty things too). It's in a pretty setting and has a lovely community feel to it. We managed to find parking in the small shopping area just up from St Mary's Row at around 9:15am, but parking could be a bit of a nightmare if you were getting here later. The square area offered braces of pheasants for £6, cheese, wine, condiments and artisan food products and the High Street area (which we hadn't realised was there until we were leaving - D'oh) offers more of a crafty element. We had a nice little poke around the stalls and chatted to many of the business owners about their products and they were more than happy to talk to us and advise where the items are made and the ingrediants that go into them. We got some lovely locally made fizzy red wine (Did you know there are vineyards in the Midlands?) for £10 a bottle, some hot sauce from Pip's and was very tempted by cakes and unusual scotch eggs... We are definitely planning to go back. If you haven't been, you must go. Get there early if you're planning to drive but the buses down to Moseley drop you off right in the thick of the action, do that might be the best idea.

I've been attending the market for over three years now, and I rarely miss a month. The stalls always draw me back when I'm needing a healthy variation to my diet, and the price range is perfect value for money. Specifically regarding the Beans & Leaves stall, which sells a wide range of both coffee beans and loose teas. Most of these infusions rarely reach the £4 mark for 100g, which results in more than enough tea for two for several months! The tea stall holder himself is a bubbly yam yam who'll immediately strike up a conversation. It's just a shame that his stall is on the windiest part of Moseley, meaning that a lot of his tea ends up at the other side of the market! But of course, on first visit, you'll want to sample everything. Whether this be jam, ostrich burgers, bakery, alcohol or cheese (in fact, I highly recommend the Warwickshire Truckle), there's literally something for everyone. I've also tried a range of unlikely produces which sometimes appear at the market, such as a piece of fruit called a quince, and a green tea cake, both equally as delicious as the other. As a worthy winner of "best farmers market in the UK 2012", Moseley Farmers Market is a treasury to Birmingham and brings a tasteful locality to the streets of Moseley.

Bettys Farm is situated between the main centre of Willington and the A38. The access road is a…read morelittle on the bumpy side, but takes you past the free-range chickens pecking away in harmony with the sheep they have at the farm. The wind turbine and solar panels that presumably power the farm, can be seen from the A38. The Farm Shop is stacked with a whole range of products from flour, jams and preserves to cakes, bread and rolls, all locally sourced. There is also sizeable range of fruit and vegetables, and dairy products like milk and cheese, the local Derbyshire cheese - Peakland White, that tastes similar to Stilton is lovely. Bettys Farm also has a tiny cafe area and its own butchers counter, thus far though we have not tried either, as we always go after work, just as it is about to close. We have tried their chicken and pork sausages though, which again are sourced locally, full of flavour, worth paying that little bit extra. In comparison to most farm shops though Bettys is very reasonable, with the eggs being particularly good value. A dozen eggs being a fraction of the price of those in the supermarkets and much tastier, because of the life the chickens have led.

Look out for wild mushrooms, cured meats, honey, jams, sausages and sausage butties, cakes, hand-made toiletries, craft beer and more. The prices are generally fair for the quality and the hard-working stall holders deserve the constant stream of customers, from the local area and a little further afield. Tasting is usually an option before you buy which is always a good sign. Overall, a great use of the space, and a great way to get consumers in touch with farmers and cottage industry products.

There's a good selection of organic produce, and free range meat and you can pick up honey, yummy cakes, and smelly soaps too. Strangely for a farmers market there's not a lot of veg. Around Christmas time they do a nice craft fair. Take your own bags, because you get some funny looks if you ask for a carrier bag.

Apley Farm Shop opened its doors to the public on Thursday 31st March 2011 and features, as well as…read morethe farm shop itself, a café and a kids' playbarn. We decided to visit today to check out all three. We had been fortunate enough to be invited to a special pre-opening event at the playbarn a couple of weeks earlier, so we already had an idea what kind of thing to expect. We were not disappointed! As farm shops go, Apley raises the bar and sets a new standard. Housed in beautifully converted original farm buildings it's airy, spacious and very well laid out. I was responsible for trying to keep a sixteen month old in check, so wasn't able to take a close look at much of the produce on sale, but it's generally what you would expect from a high class delicatessen/farm shop, including some more unusual fare, like venison chorizo. Produce is generally locally sourced, including beef and game directly from Apley estate itself. I don't do cafés, as I much prefer pubs, but this café is going to be an exception to that rule. Simple offerings, such as sandwiches, quiches, ploughmans' and so on, but the quality is exceptional. There's a kids' section on the menu, which steers clear of the deep fried stodge you find in far too many places. As you would expect, there's a tempting array of cakes and other sweet treats that all looked good. There's a range of red and white wines as well as the usual teas, coffees and some very nice soft drinks. I would like to see bottled ales available and noticed that they sell a range of local ones from Hobsons and Woods in the shop. A bottle of Town Crier would have slipped down nicely today. The playbarn is currently the final piece in the jigsaw, although I believe that they plan to open a business centre here too. My wife is the expert on playbarns, having been to most of the local ones, but I gather this one is a little different to the rest. Kids' birthday parties are confined to separate, private rooms, which I think is a great idea. The seating area is therefore made up of comfy leather sofas with coffee tables and café style chairs and tables, all for grown ups, with complimentary newspapers and magazines provided. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, soft drinks, ice cream and cakes are sold from the counter. Oh yes, the play section itself... well I enjoyed it, so it must be good! I'm pleased to see there's no ball pit, as I think these are just germ magnets. In summary, I hope nobody reads this review as we would like to keep the place a secret, thank you very much!

All of the stalls are from the local area, and the people are all so friendly and happy to chat. The goods may be more expensive than you could get in a supermarket, but you know that you are helping the local economy and for the quality it is well worth the extra few pennies you will spend. I do recommend that you get there quite early in the day though, as otherwise you may find that many of the stalls have sold the majority of their products.
