I love Scéal Eile books. This truly is a bookstore with a difference. A cosy fire, friendly banter, and a amazing selection of books at excellent value make this a fantastic place to while away an afternoon. It is a favourite of both tourists and locals alike. The staff are well-informed and friendly. A unique little nook in the heart of Ennis, it is well worth a visit. 5 stars! read more

What a great bookshop - new, second-hand & antiquarian books of all sorts. Allow yourself plenty of time to check out the range of books and sit by the turf-fired stove while you choose your purchases. Irish & local history are strong points and the stock of Irish-language books is second to none. The staff are knowlegeable & good-humoured & the books are very good value ! Book launches & readings are a high point, especially during the annual Book-Club Festival. read more

Specialties

We are a quirky, independently-run, bookshop based in the Market area of Ennis, Co Clare, Ireland. Our stock is an eclectic mix of new books, books of local interest (including locally published books, local history books, etc), rare & collectible books as well as a great variety of second-hand books. Our shop features a spiral staircase and is heated by a blazing fire. We often hold evening events, sometimes by candle and fire-light. Browsers welcome! Scéal Eile Books is also home to Scéal Eile Productions, a theatre company interested in performing new, innovative Irish writing and in reviving classic Irish work.

History

Established in 2006.

Scéal Eile Books was established by Éibhleann & Gerry (daughter&father) in Sept 2006. Since then, we have continued to enrich our stock & grow our business, and now sell some books online as well as instore.
