If I were you, grab some breakfast or brunch when you get your taxes done here because there are 3 breakfast places within minutes of Internal Income or grab some pasta! Ok, so parking was pretty easy for me, but there is street parking all around for $2/Hr and can get tricky because if you are not paying for parking, you will need a parking permit to park anywhere else. I was blessed to find a spot right in front. I had called a couple days in advance to make an appointment, Mr. Tod answered and he was very helpful and friendly over the phone. I came to his office on a Friday morning and was in and out of there in about an hour. Both Mr. Tod and his son, who works with him, were so nice. when it came down to the process, Mr. Tod was extremely informative throughout it all and I really appreciated that he had turned the computer monitor to let me see everything he was typing. And while I was waiting for him to finish it all up, he brought out a "book of flowers" and asked me to look up the flower that corresponds to my birth-date and to read what it says about it. Such a unique book. LOVE! I had a great time in there; good service, good conversations, and with good people. Taxes were done, they were done well and he did not charge me an arm and a leg like most CPAs. I will definitely be seeing him next year. Thank you Mr. Tod!!!! :)

IRS wasn't helpful at all and I threw my hands up. The state just accepted the false returns and out of the blue started seizing my pay checks. The guys at Heartland Tax were so kind and helpful. They took care of the ID theft paperwork with the IRS and got the state to stop taking my checks. They acted quickly, getting this done in just a couple of days. They also prepared the tax returns I owed and got them accepted by the IRS and state. It turns out that I was owed tax refunds for most of the years. Heartland kept after the state and I just got all of the money back which was taken from my checks. Now I'm waiting on the IRS to issue my refunds for the last couple of years. These guys are real professionals. They prepared my complicated tax returns, asked a ton of questions I hadn't thought of, and saved me more money then I imagined. Their fees are reasonable, especially given how much work they did. Bob and Tim were very knowledgeable and always responsive to my calls and emails.

Volunteers gather every Saturday morning to offer 2 hours of English tutoring to anyone who wants to attend(for free!). I have met many dedicated volunteers and students from 20-80 years old trying to better their English. The bonus of volunteering at CASL is how close in proximity it is to so many great restaurants! CASL serves a big range of ages by offering pre-school, after school programs, senior day service, home care services. It also helps new immigrants and citizens by providing assistance in navigating the legal system, filling out government forms, preparing for the job market, getting a mortgage to buy a house, studying for citizenship classes, etc. On any given Saturday, I also see many kids and families coming in for dance classes, Mandarin classes, and other Chinese culture related classes. It's a wonderful cultural hub for Chinese American families. If you know someone who would like to volunteer or needs services, tell them to go to CASL. A simple orientation tour will show you what they have to offer and how much the community needs CASL.

I was charged something and the merchant was supposed to credit my account. After contacting the merchant several times, I gave up on them and called to dispute the charge. Citibank said they couldn't dispute the charge and that I needed to contact the merchant. I explained this loop to their customer care and what did they say... you need to contact the merchant! It is a joke, they are a joke. I have found better banks and I know you can too.
