I was about to place an order for several 6lb bags and at the last minute the chat box opened so I decided confirm with their rep it was indeed Filet Mignon. IT ISN'T. Their description and product tag is deceptive. Here is the definition of Beef Tenderloin from the website; "Beef. It's what for dinner. " A long, narrow, and lean muscle located within the Loin, this is the most tender cut of beef available. The Tenderloin is the source of Tenderloin Steak or Filet Mignon, and is a component of T-Bone and Porterhouse Steaks." Their rep claimed Tenderloin is a different cut than filet mignon. I guess you can find an alternate definition on the web- but that doesn't make it true. How do I know her definition is false? I have not one but 3 culinary degrees- and two are from Le Cordon Bleu, Paris. Be careful before you spend your money. ASK questions PRIOR to buying so you don't have regrets afterwards.

They definitely know who's a local and who's not. And they offer essentials like sunblock, fishing gear, and kitschy sweatshirts (for your perfect beach day in case you forgot anything on the mainland/are a tourist and don't realize that the ocean breeze in Maine can actually be quite cold even in August); along with pretty typical mom and pop store staple food items like cold sandwiches (think Italians, tuna/chicken/egg salad, etc.), hot sandwiches (meatball, steak and cheese, hamburgers), fried foods (clam cakes, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, french fries), Gifford's ice cream (there are very minimal options), whoopie pies, and soda, six-packs of beer, and bottles of wine. Folks can enjoy their spoils on Long Island Store's deck while looking out onto Casco Bay. Interestingly enough, the back of the store also houses some beautiful, coastal-inspired artwork. And why wouldn't it when outside their window are pine trees, the rocky shoreline, and the deep blue Atlantic? For a half-day trip, it's not necessarily a "must stop"; the first time we came we almost immediately left when we realized there was really nothing we wanted or needed (though I imagine if we were vacationing here/lived here/weren't vegetarians we would end up LOVING this place). We were initially drawn in for the ice cream, but the flavors weren't singing to us and the people working seemed deeply immersed in conversations with other islanders making it difficult to get their attention. However, there is something quite satisfying about a) feeling a sort of anonymity here, and b) being able to buy a bottle of wine only to then walk down to Fowlers or up to Cleaves Landing to enjoy it!

It is cornered right next to Super Scoops and there is one main reason why I continue to come back to this little place .. the people. There really is nothing that much different about this little place where it is similar to any other convenience store but the folks here are super friendly and super nice. Every single time I come in they always spark up some conversation with you and brighten your day but not in a creepy and annoying way that most might find early in the morning grabbing a quick bite in the morning. They offer breakfast sandwiches, pizza slices and burgers to go along with all of the typical fares from a gas station/convenienece store. The only part that I dislike about this place is the price of gas compared to other parts of the state. I know it being in Falmouth makes it tougher because most everything in that sity is super expensive but, you could drive about 5 miles away toward Portland or South Portland and save about 10-15 cents sometimes.
